We were down to go to a restaurant but at last minute had to change plans and so sought out fish and chips. We were doubly fortunate in that our accommodation was on Royal Mile and the chip shop was a minute's walk away. We read reviews, which were positive and they were not wrong. Service was great and the food was really fresh and tasty. If you fancy fish and chips and you are in Edinburgh, then head straight here.

*****Local family run business with amazingly kind and polite service. They never disappointed and always serve beyond the point of an excellence. And yes, fish 🐠 and 🍟 chips portions are huge and great value for the affordable prices. Plenty of yummy choices as well. Highly recommended. Enjoy as we do!*****PS. Princess Diana enjoyed their fish&chips too! ❤️

Bene’s - rated one of the best Fish and chips shops in Edinburgh. I visited during December 2021, the portions are huge and delicious, the fish is freshly fried, it’s set in a box and then wrapped with paper (Bring your own Takeaway bag). I had the fried Mars bar there a while back. That is certainly yummy as well. Easy to find, it’s down the Royal Mile just a little ways before you get to Hollyrood Palace.

Generous serving and the price is reasonable! Friendly staff and the fish&chips are fried on the spot when we order it.

Stumbled across this place whilst walking up the Royal Mile. First time In Edinburgh and had a deep fried Mars bar on my bucket list! The team were really friendly and the shop was spotless. Didn't take longer than a couple of minutes to get a freshly fried Mars bar. Would recommend this place to anyone who's visiting and is looking to try one too!

Had to try true takeaway fish and chips before I left the UK. Bene's was perfect for what I was looking for. It was really hot in the shop I'm not sure how the 3 workers could bare it.

Wanted to try a deep fried Mars bar whilst up in Scotland so decided to go here as they were offering them. Safe to say that the Mars bar was not the highlight of the visit. The onion rings were amazing, the burger was great for a takeaway burger and the mixed kebab had good reviews from my other half The Mars bar was good but it was great that it came with so much other good food. Staff had a good chat with us and we're very friendly. Would recommend to anyone.

I popped into Bene's for a quick take away 'Tea' on my way to a gig at the Voodoo Rooms recently. I was really glad that I visited Bene's as the staff were chatty, friendly and knowledgeable about the 35 years history of the take away and the area. I found out that I was talking to the Italian founder Beneditto's Daughter, lovely lassie. Great tasty food, generous portion for a good price especially during these scary economic times. Bene's has great people friendly staff which is hard to find these days sadly so as Arnie Schwarzenegger would say = 'I'll be back'! 😆

A place that knows how deep frying is done. Seriously, most things are amazing here, the fish is insane. I used to live nearby as a student and I ate almost twice a week. Good job guys, I hope one day to visit again.

Loved it, it was so nice we decided on chips for our second night in Edinburgh over a restaurant. We'll definitely be back if we're up again and would highly recommend. Oh, putting the meat for a kebab ontop of the pitta rather than in it is wierd.

Amazing. Came up with a student production for the fringe and a friend and I picked up food from here at least once. Absolutely amazing. The pizza is gorgeous and freshly made. A lovely range - something for everyone. Will absolutely be visiting again if I come back up.

Unsure where to eat on last day in Edinburgh, so just nipped in here for some chips and to try battered haggis. Friendly service and the portions were huge. While not exactly the best chips I've ever had, they were still more than good enough and I really enjoyed the battered haggis. If you're in Edinburgh and fancy a chippie, I'd recommend Bene's.

Our first night in Edinburgh after a 5 hour drive. We were in need of a chippy that delivered. We were not disappointed after googling nearby places. Absolutely gorgeous food. Quick delivery. Very polite and friendly.

It's been a long time since I enjoyed fish and chips that much. I ordered Cod because I am not such a huge fan of Haddock, but unfortunately it had run out, but a very nice phone call and Haddock it was. The other half had a battered Haggis... Now he's a fussy old stick at the best of times, but he thought it was fab. Back though to the fish. My old dad used to deliver fish to shops back in the 60's, so knows a thing or two about the right way to cook battered fish.. When I described the fack that there was hardly any grease, the fish held its shape, the batter was crisp, the fish was nice and light, his words were the same as mine. Finally someone who actually knows how to fry fish properly. Needless to say, I am now a fan of Haddock. But only from here. We also had cheese cake. My god, amazing. What ever you are doing, keep doing it! Sounds like almost a side note, but still important - a Saturday night in Edinburgh - delivery estimate was 7 30.. It arrived and was up in the hotel room by 7.28. I usually don't give top marks, but when you can't a single thing wrong, especially in the quality, top marks it must be!!!

Family run chip shop. Friendly service, good food. Usual chip shop fare, plus kebabs and pizzas. Freshly made pizzas are really good - better than the chains like Domino's. Also have delivery service. One of Edinburgh's best chippys.

The best and biggest fish and chips I have ever eaten! And the price was fantastic. Visiting from the US this past week we were looking for the best fish and chips in Edinburgh. We found it and it made our night! Cheers!

Best chippy in Edinburgh! Their chips and sauce are excellent. I also highly recommend the meat feast pizza. Important to know that it's take away only as there is no seating.
