The Guru, one of the best Indian restaurants to visit when in Edinburgh. I travel up to Edinburgh often and the first place I visit is Guru. The food is amazing and flavoursome; will excite your senses and lets not forget the naan bread. You will not find these types of naan breads in London or anywhere else.
Highly recommend restaurant to visit; a family friendly environment with amazing staff and owners who personally oversaw our order.
Every time i go to a restaurant you usually get mid to amazing food. Guru is spectacular that it crashes out of the scale. I’ve never had such a great burger in my whole entire life. In this burger, you will find beautiful caramelised onions and a chapli kebab that melts in your mouth. The service is lovely because they are not rude or grumpy, they are quite the opposite. They smile every time you look at them and when they serve you, they look happy to do that. I certainly enjoyed my experience at Guru. And will DEFINITELY come back as for everyone else, please come here. You will be pleased with the experience
We have traveled for bank holiday from London, and we have had a fantastic meal tonight. The food is super tasty, fresh and the naan breads are the best I have ever eaten. Well worth a visit for outstanding food and service! Thank you for such a lovely meal
We absolutely loved The Guru, wanted to try it for so long and it was so worth it. We were four and we were treated excellent, the staff are wonderful, always willing to give recommendations and checking everything is okay. We went with my parents in law who never had real Indian food and they weren’t sure what to order. After some recommendations from the staff, they ordered and they absolutely loved it. The portions were so big we had to take some home! Trust me, if you want to have the best indian food in Edinburgh, you definitely need to go to The Guru!! We will be back in our next visit to Scotland!
Food was absolutely delicious at this restaurant from the starters to the mains! Portion sizes were very good! A must visit
Decent curry. Their naan is easily shared as they're big.
Only thing to note is that they don't serve alcohol so it's strictly BYOB. There's a co-op nearby but those that love a Beer with their curry, make sure you've packed one.
We were a large booking of 19 people on a Saturday night. The staff couldn't have been more helpful or efficient. Every time I come I'm blown away by the service. Food outstanding as always also. Favourite Indian restaurant in town - will be back soon
Meal was amazing! Highly recommend the chai which is served authentically. Also the homemade coconut ice cream is amazing.
It’s easy to tell that it’s going to be an amazing meal when you see that this is where the locals choose to go.
Great place to eat. The food was super tasty and massive portions and the decor makes the place feel very comfortable and relaxed. Staff service was amazing! Will go again!
Very friendly staff, love the wallpaper and hanging lights, food is on top, freshly made served on time
Delicious & fresh Indian food with the biggest naan bread you’ve ever seen. My new go to ❤️
This is by far the best Indian restaurant in Edinburgh. I visited Edinburgh for a short break with my family and decided to visit this place. The atmosphere, the service and the food was excellent. Staff are very friendly and go the extra mile to provide a brilliant service. If your Edinburgh make you visit this place. Food 10/10, service 10/10 and location is excellent.
Came here on a work outing and they managed to fit in all 14 of us with ease.
The 'family naans' were absolutely massive and fed us well: somehow we managed to eat pretty much all of them! My korma was delicious and the perfect size so that I could feel full without overindulging.
The staff were also very friendly and they have cool taps in the toilets!
One of the best Indian restaurants in Edinburgh, and they've settled into their relatively new Tollcross home well. We had the Butter Chicken which was deliciously tender, and a tasty veggie option in the Bengan Bartha. The garlic naan bread was incredible too. Excellent, attentive service. It's BYOB so you can grab drinks from the Co-op round the corner.
Seems expensive, and service was a bit chaotic. There were so many mistakes made on the food we ordered. Lastly, the quantity of meat in the dishes was extremely small (a few tine cubes in each bowl)
My family, friends and I have been eating at this family run restaurant for 20+ years, since I live round the corner from it in Dundee Terrace and smelled the incredible food as I walked past.
I bring everyone to Guru at its new location in Tollcross. The food is insane - having the same chef since the doors opened means you can have your favourites time and again. Mine are the Lamb Bhuna, North Indian Chilli Garlic and the Green Herb Curry.
I always have lamb. It’s unbelievable how well it’s cooked. Utterly delicious.
The naan breads will have you defeated if you’re not careful 😂
The decor is gorgeous and a testament to the lovely family team now running the place.
Cannot recommend Guru highly enough. You’ll get a warm welcome, mouthwatering food, and leave with a full belly.
Remember it’s BYOB!
