Good authentic food. The quality and the taste of the food is really good. If you are missing food away from home this is the place to be. Service might take some while to serve but it is worth the wait.

Having been on a health and fitness binge since November, Desi Pakwan was one of the unwelcomed sacrifices that I would struggle with the most. Today was treat day and as always, it's worth it.

Now, I have been critical of their delivery times in the past, which on occasion has taken over 1 1/2 hours, but I should say that each time it has been worth the wait. It even taught Sarah and I to order earlier!

What I like most about Desi Pakwan is that every dish is clearly prepared fresh (if you wanted further confirmation, they have an open kitchen if you choose to collect/dine in) and is always consistent. I usually go for the North Indian bhuna because I love how the heat kind of catches up on you have way through eating, with the crunch of green chilli and tender chicken tikka deliciously coated in a rich, garlicky sauce. I also recommend the Acaari Handi.

Sarah normal goes for the garlic masaledar, which again is always a really satisfying eat.  Their naan breads are always light and, again, made in full view of the customers.

I'm surprised by the low score of this place on Zomato; I could put it down to the sometimes unacceptable delivery times, but I've had the food here on many occasions, and it's always been very well received.

Not sure why this place has such a low score because in my opinion it's the best Indian/Punjabi cuisine available in the city.

As mentioned elsewhere, the interior is a little bit sparse, almost canteen-like, so I would recommend takeaway or delivery. Deliveries normally take an hour at least so it's not the fastest food in the world but it is outstanding. I have ordered several times now and I really can't fault the quality. The grill specialities are particularly impressive.

I've removed 0.5 from a perfect 5.0 rating solely due to the time it takes for delivery. Otherwise this place is highly recommended.

I was disappointed that they did not have any steak left for the second time ???? the chap did offer to go all the way to the butchers etc but I knew it wouldn't have been great if it wasn't pre marinaded. We then ordered the mix grill and was not disappointed! It was nice with garlic bread and chips

Very delicious daisy food and the taste is authentic in my opinion. Although the place is small, inside is nice, clean, and cozy. I recommend this restaurant if you’re in the area. They only accept cash, but there is a cash machine beside the restaurant.

I have been a fan of the Tikki Masala you can get in a jar at the store for years. I decided I wanted to finally try a legit go of it when I saw it on their menu. I'm not joking when I say it was so much better it was as though it was something entirely different. We had that with some garlic naan bread and couldn't stop eating until there was no more. Highly recommend checking this place out if you're in the area!

Authentic Pakistani cuisine. The menu offers a great selection.I had the chicken tikka jalfrezi with chana rice. Just the right balance of flavour and spice for me. Unfortunately I was too full to try a dessert. The premises is not licensed, but you can bring your own alcohol. I opted for a delicious mango lassi.

Good food and great ambience. The food to price ratio is acceptable. Chana rice were good but their fried rice was not up-to par. Gets a bit crowded around 7/8, recommended to make a booking. Overall bill for all of this was £53.

Very good Parkinstani food. Lots of choice of kebabs, sophisticated curry bases and meat. And very reasonable price. A hidden gem indeed!

Great Desi food for Indians and Pakistani. We had been to Edinburgh on holidays and were looking for desi Indian food. came across this restaurant and we were happy to find this. We enjoyed the food and the garlic naan was amazing. Parking is not available and difficult to find.

This is my favourite Indian restaurant in Edinburgh. Chef Malik is a culinary genius and the service is always friendly. You can bring your own beer and if ordering to your house, it's worth noting that they still have old-school delivery drivers rather than subcontracting it to one of those awful companies The veggie options are really good. Worth noting, is that you can't pay by card when ordering in but there is an ATM next door. Also, the website for ordering delivery can be a bit difficult to navigate, but you can phone in your order too.

Best restaurant in Edinburgh for Indian food. Make fresh in front of you using the finest ingredients. If you haven't dined here yet, you are missing out. All served by the lovely Bali.
