Like many people, I am very bad for instantly opting for Costa or Starbucks when meeting friends, but I am so glad my friend and I chose to catch up at Project Coffee instead.
Unfortunately, I don't drink coffee, so can't rate the quality of their brews. However, I am extremely impressed with the selection of herbal teas and fresh juices on offer.
There is a unique sort of joy to be had from enjoying breakfast items all day, and Project Coffee offers just that. There are lots of excellent veggie options too.
Now it is not often that I am so inspired by a meal in a restaurant that I simply must recreate it at home, but I cannot stop thinking about the delicious breakfast fritters I enjoyed. Carrot and coriander fritters are topped with halloumi, poached eggs and tomato chutney. Such a delicious, unusual combination!
For someone on a mainly gluten-free diet, I was impressed with the array of hearty soups on offer. The only way Project Coffee could improve is to offer gluten free bread as an option for sandwiches.
Next time you're in Bruntsfield, abandon Starbucks and Costa and try Project Coffee instead.
Amazing scones! Lovely atmosphere- great place to relax and read the newspaper's (they have lots). Great breakfast menu and delicious baked goods (get a scone! )
Excellent coffee spot, best in Scotland when I was visiting. Oh did I mention they also do breakfast as well. Coming from Australia, I think this was the best breakfast place I'be had in Scotland. I had their carrot & coriander fritters with poached eggs which was fantastic. Also, can't stop mentioning: coffee coffee coffee. They do serve pastries & sandwiches as well. :)

On numerous occasions I come here when in Bruntsfield. Mainly for coffee and more likely to join that coffee is something sweet like the shortbread or scone. Both are very delicious. Their coffees are great. Same deliverance every time and each cup another golden coffee kiss. Been here once for a cooked breakfast and I remember enjoying that also. Service is simple and courteous.
I've always been impressed by the espresso at Project Coffee. I stopped in for breakfast, the other day, and was similarly impressed by what they had to offer on the food front. It's a very smart little place, too. Well worthy of a visit.
We concluded by saying: "I thought Project Coffee was doing very good work. I’d happily return to try something else from their menu and I continue to rate their coffee very highly. I’d recommend you pay it a visit, soon."
Definitely one of the best coffees in town, and while the food's good it's a bit overpriced.
Lovely atmosphere and good seating. Have been here thrice and tried their soup, hot chocolate and veggie breakfast. Must say all of them were quite good and I’d recommend the hot chocolate the most. The prices are pretty competitive.
If you're looking for a great coffee spot in Edinburgh, look no further than Project Coffee in Bruntsfield. This cozy and welcoming café has a trendy, laid-back vibe that's perfect for working, catching up with friends, or just enjoying a good cup of coffee.
The coffee here is top-notch. In addition to coffee, Project Coffee also serves a range of delicious food, including breakfast items, sandwiches, and pastries. The menu is well-curated and offers a good mix of healthy and indulgent options. Everything we tried was fresh, flavourful, and satisfying.
The atmosphere of the café is another highlight. The space is bright and airy, with plenty of natural light. It's a great place to settle in with a book and spend some time working or relaxing. The staff are friendly and helpful, and they seem genuinely passionate about coffee and food.
Stylish decor and good atmosphere; service was pleasant if average; vegan food options limited, though both soups were vegan (and tasty), no vegan spread or olive oil offered for the (very good) bread.
Very much enjoyed my first visit today. With a choice to sit inside their tastefully decorated restaurant or outside on what was a beautiful sunny day this is simply a great venue for just a coffee or something delicious to eat. I opted for brunch and had scrambled eggs and bacon complimented by a latte. The eggs were perfectly done with plenty of high quality toast, butter and even a pot of thick cut marmalade it was perfect. Service was fast and the staff very friendly too. Highly recommended.
The coffee here (Square Mile Red Brick) is excellent, but this place really comes into its own if you're having breakfast or brunch. The Benny and the Brekkie Melt are excellent, and so is the full breakfast. I'd go more often if I could reliably get a table!
The fact that they're also dog friendly is a huge, appreciated bonus.
Excellent service, decent prices, great portions. I ordered the Project Breakfast and Earl Grey tea. It was my first time having haggis and I loved it, nothing like what I would except (it reminded me almost of a salty, meaty bulgar wheat). I loved the grilled tomato and small mushrooms, the bacon was thick cut and crisped and the toast was thick and multi-grain served with a tangy orange marmalade.
Atmosphere good. You can pay with card. They have freshly baked shortbread. I definitely didn’t like the ‘butter’ (instead of clotted cream) and jam I got with my scone :( and also would have loved to have the scone at least slightly warmed up
Lively popular breakfast and light lunch cafe with seating inside (2-4 seater tables and booths and outside under the canopy). Their full cooked "Projevt breakfast" will set you up well for your busy day ahead or have one of their tasty soups for a light lunch. Choose a table and order & pay at the counter for it to be brought and served at your table. Dog friendly inside and outside.
Breakfast was perfect, Avocado toast with poached egg and my other half had housemade Granola with yoghurt & fruits...
I love a mocha and I had the best one ever at Project Coffee! Also had such a delicious veggie breakfast. Really friendly service too, thank you! Highly recommend.
A nice coffee shop. Coffee and food were good. Only disappointing things were they don’t take cash and don’t offer wifi. So if you want to do a little work while you eat, you’ll need to go elsewhere.
Amazing! I am not a local, so I just wandered around and found this gem. Great coffee! The onion chutney is amazing! In combination with the fresh bread and silky egg yolk, one of the best sandwiches I ever had. I'll make sure to visit when I come back!
lovely breakfast and good coffe as well as chai tea latte. the eggs were unseasoned but otherwise a perfect start for the day.
One of my all time favourite coffee shops in Edinburgh. The staff here are lovely, the coffee is amazing and the food is delicious (especially the Avo on Toast and the Brownie). It’s my go to place for a morning coffee before University!
I read on reddit that this place had really good freshly made shortbread, so I made the trip over to try it. It lived up to the hype, very good shortbread!
