Great coffee, delicious cakes, quiet, and friendly baristas. Perfect place to spend an afternoon reading/working. Funky decor, including Lego models. Will return soon!

Truly wonderful.
The pictures make it look bigger than it is!
Moved up a notch when they introduced bacon sanis.
Passionate about their coffee - if you are too then you can explore stuff about beans, milk foam, forcing or filtering (or something) that just gets me lost.
The Milk Oolong (tea) is my fav.
Great for a bite and a few chapters of a book or as most of the clientèle do - three research papers and some facebook (or is that snapchat?) - On that front often pretty busy with students buried in laptops for long periods
Quiet a variety of music in the background too
and last but mostest - Great staff

Relaxed vibe in this large long and thin cafe. Very high quality coffee - espresso and kalita wave - using Roundhill beans and guests. Deeply passionate about their coffee and happy to talk to you about it. Meals also available

Been past this place many times. Finally got to visit last week and fell in love with the place. Not only do they make fab coffee but the baristas, Dean, Drew and Gary are well versed in latte art. Soups by Union of Genius, pastries and cakes from Manna House. Teas from Anteaques, coffee comes from Roundhill near Bath.
Great music, WiFi and plenty of plug sockets.
The coffee grinders are named Bert and Ernie with Florence the espresso machine.
Laid back, good banter and excellent coffee.

Probably my favourite café in Edinburgh. I was lucky enough to be shown the place by a friend and now I go back whenever I feel like starting the day nicely. Great staff, brilliant coffee and I love their salmon toast.

This was good and affordable, definitely worth a second visit! We had the poached eggs and the banana on toast, which were absolutely delicious. For the poached eggs, the poached eggs and sourdough arrived warm, which was nice. The salted butter and hot sauce also added a nice touch which made it feel complete. As for the banana on toast, the peanut butter (and to a lesser extent the cinnamon powder) balanced out the sweetness of the banana, and it's one of the best brunches I've had The milky oolong (a tea, not a milk tea), was also very pleasant as it was smooth and creamy

Cult Espresso is a quaint coffee shop with a no-frills menu. I ordered the smoked salmon on bread as it was highly reviewed, and I really enjoyed the perfect balance of flavours. It was nicely garnished and the bread had a good crunch. Hot chocolate was on point too, not too sweet and chocolatey. I enjoyed the open kitchen concept too.

We stopped by to get something quick to eat and chose the grilled cheese sandwich, which was really good! The homemade fermented hot sauce is super tasty, but it is indeed very hot 🥵👍🏻. After that we ordered to cappuccini, which were also excellent, but unfortunately we were a little pressed for time and it took them over fifteen minutes to prepare them (despite the restaurant not even being half full), so we could not finished them.

Fabulous soup (Spicy Mexican Blackbean). Very relaxed informal vibe and great snack menu. Service was fine and would have been great, but they were very busy due to the number of people - which is a compliment in itself.

For the past two weeks I have been getting coffee here, and every time I have been here both the coffee and the service have been outstanding. I have mainly been drinking flat whites for this past month and cult espresso has the best one I have had since moving to Edinburgh. The milk is perfectly textured and the coffee itself is nice and balanced. Aside from the coffee the service has always been fast and friendly, the team seems great and this leads to good service and customer interaction which is something that is very important. The location itself is close to the university, but it doesn't seem overly busy which is even better. The overall style and decor is good. I have a hard time finding any faults with the place, so I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Delicious food and fantastic service, coffee was a tad average sadly (soy flat white) but they have a ton of pour overs on offer so black may be better ✌🏻

Saw so many amazing reviews about the salmon and it did not disappoint! Had the salmon on toast with a poached egg. Great coffee too!

Probably my favorite coffee and avocado toast in Edinburgh. Awesome atmosphere, delicious coffee and a great selection of food and snacks. Will definitely be back when I visit again.

Delightful. It is rare to find a café that takes care of producers beyond "single source" and Cult certainly does. There is a genuine feel to the place generally, seen in the service, the mugs and of course the coffee. The decaf was a rich yet complex Brazilian blend which I could drink all day. The best avocado toast we've perhaps ever had, and the smoked salmon is literally the best I've had anywhere in the world. Wild caught locally and a must try dish. Enjoyed the orange pistachio rooibos tea also, and the classy presentation. Good people, great coffee and tasty food.

Comfortable place where to work on your laptop - they have good wifi. The coffee is of pretty good quality, you can tell they know what they are doing. I tried a lavender and blueberry cake: great, such an interesting and subtle flavour, I bit too much frosting for my taste but it's actually less heavy than you would normally find in the UK. The aesthetics of the place is quite enjoyable as well. It's very long, rather than wide, and it has star wars stuff around. Basically it's a great place for nerdy hipsters!

Cult espresso was a great find in Edinburgh. The staff were extremely friendly and had a good knowledge of local places to get good coffee (which is always a good sign when a coffee shop names another competitor who does good coffee). I had their Kalita pour over which did not disappoint. It was wonderfully crafted and was made with passion. The baristas on shift today knew their stuff and were very attentive (filling up water regularly). Along with my coffee, I also had the big cheese toastie which was sourdough bread filled with cheese. This was also great. Very tasty and not too much overpowering. All round was a great experience. Would certainly recommend Cult Espresso to others and would certainly be back.

We’ve visited today as part of our “coffee scene tour” whilst visiting Edinburgh for a few days as it was highly recommended by Sprudge and oh boy did they live up to the recommendation. From start to finish, both coffee and service was outstanding. Cult offer a good selection of espresso based coffees, batch brew and Kalita for filter as well as teas and cakes. There’s also a menu for some brunch/breakfast meals. We’ve ordered a couple of Kalita’s and after choosing the beans wanted, we were served one of the most balanced and clean cups we had in Edinburgh. The food was also delightful - we’ve tried the salmon toast and the big cheese which both absolutely lived up to their expectations snd contrary to previous review, were definitely worth the money. The guys behind the bar are super friendly, knowledgeable and down to earth and if you get a chance, definitely strike up a conversation with them. The only disadvantage I’d say was that it was a bit chilly in there.

5! It has to be!! I am not kidding you when I say! This place, well, wow! Could you ever believe that you’re here when you’re experiencing the cosmos in its infinity via the flavours of a batch brew?? Can you even understand and fathom the ideas of those greater and on different dimensional planes to us far exceeding our collective being? No! You can’t so stop saying you can. The coffee is to die for. Not like I wanna. Space is a concept and so is this place. I don’t wanna go home. To him. 10/10 staff was real! Keep AI out of our coffee! Staff do be dancing!
