Reviews Stockbridge Tap

It can be easy to forget that the Stockbridge Tap – like its sister pubs the Bow Bar and Cloisters – hasn’t been around for as long as you think. These places all feel pleasingly, authentically aged and hold a cherished place in the heart of the Edinburgh beer scene. Their roots may be in real ale in the 1990s but they have all embraced the renaissance in British brewing in a dignified fashion, keeping pace with developments without going all craft on us.

Lovely neighbourhood local bar. Great wine, free wifi and a fab range of bar snacks! Kitchen always turns out great food when it's open but sometimes closes last minute. No kids allowed so for a child free outing it's a great choice!

Really enjoyed another visit to the Stockbridge Tap, recently. Their beer selection was as excellent as ever and their burgers are very tasty, too.

We concluded by saying: "I was impressed with the Stockbridge Tap. The welcome is warm and the surroundings traditionally pubby. The food is really very good. I’d recommend an eating and drinking visit at your earliest convenient opportunity."

I'm a big fan of the Stockbridge Tap. It's a great place to try a variety of beers (many local), and their whisky list is user-friendly. I've found the staff to be quite welcoming and happy to help with your decision-making if you're stumped for what to order.

The kitchen seems to be closed frequently and on a schedule that I am unable to predict, so I have not yet tried the food here.

The Stockbridge Tap is a pleasant, traditionally decorated pub with old style bar mirrors. Good selection of cask conditioned beers and good range of spirits. Is very much dog friendly - there were at least 4 when I was there with one having its own reservation! 😅 Service is good but something of note is that large groups are not allowed.

Traditional Od Pub, modern local beers but a loud boisterous bartender made me want to leave as a soon as possible, uncomfortably loud with his buddies.

Got here by chance, while on a walk to discover the surroundings. Lovely selection of beers and good looking pub. Definitely one to remember.

One of the very few spots I really 100% enjoyed in Scotland. Only craft references (beer for sure, I don't know about the spirits), 6 casks, 10ish on draught, old beer mirrors and a place crowded with both locals and visitors. Publicans know their beers. Feels like home. Worth the trip.

Wide selection of beers. Great for a refreshing stop on the Waters of Leith walk.

Low key has the best beer selection on tap of almost any bar in Edinburgh. There are some serious contenders, like Salt Horse, but Stockbridge tap has the atmosphere of a traditional pub with the local craft beer of more modern beer bars. I didn't appreciate it enough when I first moved to Edinburgh, but now it's one of my favorites.

Great bar for looking out into the street. Bigger than expected as there is Plenty of seating round the corner towards the rest rooms. Great selection of real ales and drinks

Excellent pub, and now on my list of must visits when in that part of Edinburgh. Broad and interesting range of drinks, fairly priced, well kept ales, no industrial lagers, etc, etc.

A great place for a pint in the afternoon. The smell of hops on the air, an enthusiastic drinker, and a sample of beer helped me choose a very enjoyable pint.

fab craft beer bar. 6 casks and at least 9 kegs on tap. large (over 40) whisky selection. friendly, knowledgeable bar staff and a great vibe. the wood and old brewery mirrors give a lovely old pub feel, but the large windows make it feel like an open european bar. dogs allowed, no food available.

My first date ended up at this pub. Also my fiancee best friends dad drunk here. Now unfortunately he as past away. And just last week we toasted to where he stood with a lovely whisky. And thinking what he had looked at as he drunk his pint. With many varieties of whisky to choose from. A memorable occasion for us both.

They no longer serve food here (previous reviews mention food service), but this is a great little neighborhood pub with an excellent drink selection. Spent a couple of afternoons here on our trip to Edinburgh
