We have just spent a couple of days in Leith and The Barologist was top of the list to go to, maybe because George Armstrong aka Ulysses G Houston is from our neck of the woods, but it just looked like a cool place.
We weren’t disappointed.
Welcoming staff from the start, nothing was too much trouble, good selection of drinks, the food was spot on.
The themed rooms are amazing and there’s always something to look at or discover.
I wish we were staying for longer as it’s definitely a go to place to eat each day.
We’ll be back when next in the area.
Lovely location for lunch, dinner, or a drink. The menu isn't very wide, but they have a varied selection of dishes. They have a nice selection of wine, and many drinks. The decour is interesting and funky. They have a fireplace. The staff is efficient, friendly, and polite. I had dinner, wine, and dessert, all really tasty. The portion sizes are satisfactory, but not excessively large.
We came in following a quick search near our hotel and are so glad we did. All of the food was delicious and there were arguments about who had the best meal. The whole ambiance, food and service was brilliant. Thank you
Queer friendly! We've had no problems in signalling we are nonbinary to the host and all the waiting staff has been kind and professional with us.
Food was lovely we've had haggis bon bons and haddock gojouns ( these were perfect 👌).
My partner had a Southern fried chicken burger which is served in a brioche bun and had tasty side cabbage and hand cut chips 🍟
I had the smoked haddock risotto which was nice.
Portions of the mains are generous so we didn't have space to try dessert.
Drinks are nice, staff is happy to go off menu if they have the capacity.

Visited the Barologist this week. Ryan and Michael could not have been more professional. The service they provided was second to none. The food was excellent and the atmosphere with
music playing in was not too loud and provided an excellent background. Would definitely return in the near future.
Really good cocktails and nice atmosphere. Callum behind the bar was lovely. He recommended us a spicy margarita of his own creation (not on the menu) and it was delicious! He was very knowledgeable about making cocktails and an absolute pleasure to talk to. The manager was also very helpful as we had some vouchers that we didn't know needed to be in paper form so he printed them out for us. Overall the best experience!

Had a lovely meal with my wife whilst visiting Edinbugh, being midweek it was a bit quiet, but that doesn't bother us. Started with haggis bon bons and my wife had a sweet potato and chickpea curry and I had the pesto gnocchi, both were delicious. Waitress was super helpful and knowledgeable about the menus, food and drinks.
Quirky decore and delicious cocktails. The food wasn't so bad either.
They have a seasonal cocktail menu so don't get attached to tour faves. Also willing to make cocktails not listed if they know how.
Had afternoon tea (gift voucher) Good choice of wraps, scones & cakes. Service great, very pleasant & helpful staff, decor funky.Give our regards to Steven!!
Lovely cocktail bar, didn't stop for long as weren't in the area for long enough but would go back. Lovely decor, lovely drinks.
The atmosphere is great, the food is terrific, and the service is even better - our server Mairi was a delight. 5 stars from us.
Always wanted to go to the Barologist, from the reviews I heard from people. This is now my favourite restaurant to go to absolutely beautiful inside the decor is so nice, Can get busy so I recommend to get a reservation. Food is beautiful and the drink served all comes with that little detail. I really wanted to see the stary 🌟 window but there was a wedding booked in that room. On going to the toilet I had a sneak look in, and captured a photo, the decor I haven't seen anything like the Barologist which makes it so different and unique. I went on the Friday, food stops getting served at 10pm and they have drinks after with a DJ with great music that fits the vibe. Pictures doesn't do this place justice.
I do recommend they get some nachos in there Menu though, 😋
