Always wanted to go to this restaurant so i took my lovely Fiancee here for her birthday and it didnt disappoint one bit and i must say very impressed. Soon as we walked in we were taken to our table and offered a selection of light snacks and breads which were just amazing. Service was very prompt and staff were very warm and friendly. The set lunch menu was just amazing and refreshing looking to go back very soon.

This was amazing in every way. The atmosphere of the restaurant is laid back as is the decor. Service was impeccable throughout. Plenty of staff all of them very attentive.
The food was absolutely top notch. It's not cheap but you get incredible quality. Before your order even arrives you get some snacks with your drink. After that some delicious fresh bread with pate and butter. My girlfriend has a lactose allergy and they gave her some mushroom pate. It was one of the most surprisingly delicious things I've ever had. I would pay good money for a few tins of it. After these treats I started with the scallops which were a special and they were perfect. Then I had the fish of the day which was a sea bream and equally fantastic. My girlfriend had a mushroom starter and the chicken as a main. Both excellent as well. We added 3 sides for 10 pounds. All of these (fries, rotisserie vegetables and French beans) were on point.
I loved this place. If you want to you don't have to break the bank with your meal here. But even if you do spend a bit more I guarantee you will get your money's worth. We will be back soon!
Always a great place to come for good food. Lovely oysters and a good selection of mains. Wine selection is excellent. One of my favourite places near Morningside. The beef Wellington was fantastic!
Had a great table, with excellent service and scrumptious food. Wine list was also very good.
Worth seeking out if you are a visitor to Edinburgh.
Had an amazing dinner! Great staff who were very knowledgeable but at the same time made us feel relaxed. We were there with our children (10 and 12) and we all had different dishes and all enjoyed them - especially the bisque of the ravioli had everyone raving but really enjoyed the octopus too. Really like the way you can choose the sides to go with the rotisserie main dishes. My son demolished his steak 😆 and my fish was outstanding. I don’t agree with the comments of portion sizes - we didn’t even have space for desserts! Loved the place and will definitely be back!
Very nice place gor a meal out. Staff very pleasant, and food very good. 😊
The service and the food were outstanding, the wine was a bit pricey, but not outrageous. The staff were simply brilliant. There were three ladies on the next table, one of whom said loudly that it had been a good meal, but she thought her fries were a bit bland, by the time the waiter appeared with their bill each had decided that there was something wrong with everything thing, when questioned about what was wrong said, not sure I just didn't like it. Handled brilliantly by the staff
Fantastic cocktails and set lunch menu
Excellent food, nice service and lovely atmosphere. We went for Sunday lunch with a group of friends. The Barra monkfish was superb and even the humble French beans were transformed in a really tasty side dish. The missing star is for the price: I found it rather expensive given the amount of food. But there again I suppose you pay for quality, which was really very good.
Very nice place. Before ordering we got asked about food allergies. Nice to see happening as my son does have many allergies.
Specials were told to us very nicely without having to ask.
Food was delicious. Staff were not annoying asking every two minutes how we are finding our food. I prefer to be left alone to eat. But we're always available when required.
I got the steak which I found weirdly came with nothing. No side salad or chips. Chips were also fries not chips, found that surprising. Who has fish and fries? Would've expected hand cut chunky chips with skin on.
Very expensive meal, but it's not an everyday place
The food was utterly delicious, the drinks are wonderful, the staff are so attentive & clearly highly trained and the atmosphere is fabulous. The only negative I had is that my armrest-free seat wasn't too comfortable after being sat at the table for a couple of hours (albeit enjoying every minute). I can't wait to go back.

Chic interior, dark wood French Bistro style. Mains don't come with any veg etc, but side dishes of veg, potatoes are substantial and can be shared. I had the side of Macaroni and cheese as a Starter which was tasty and excellent value. Then the burger of wagyu beef, it tasted quite bland and I was unimpressed. Sides of potato and garlic were nice. Attentive service. Overall I expected more. For the price there are much more creative places to eat. Wouldn't rush back.
This was one of the nicest meals we’ve had in a long time. Real quality food, balanced portions and friendly staff (who kept their cool despite a boisterous Christmas party!!!). Definitely 5 stars. Our only neutral comment is that the extensive and expensive wine list is out of balance with the menu.
I have been twice to Southside Scran since it opened last week. Once with my husband and then we took our 3 children with us for Sunday dinner. Both experiences were wonderful! Staff were extremely attentive and the service was fast and efficient. The first time we had wagu tail which was out of this world with side dishes of Red cabbage and frites. The second time we went we had the rotisserie chicken which is the best chicken I think I have ever eaten! The kids had fish and chips and a burger and the portions were more than kid sized. The decor is stunning and you do feel like you could be in a Parisian bistro but also very kid friendly. A very welcome edition to Edinburgh and Bruntsfield and can’t wait to head back!
