Sabor Criollo is small restaurant serving traditional Latin American food. I recommend the fajitas and enchiladas. They also serve great cocktails - I had a fantastic strawberry margarita! The staff are always friendly and welcoming and the decor and music adds to an upbeat summertime atmosphere. A definite favourite of mine!
Sabor Criollo is a firm favourite with my family and I. The restaurant serves Latin American dishes in a matching setting with bright bold colours, plants and funky music. The staff are all enthusiastic and friendly and I have never been disappointed when visiting.
The Yucca Fritta is my favourite starter however is now listed as a side dish. The Chicken Enchiladas or Shredded Beef dish are the main reasons I eat here, and I also like the guava juice.

I highly recommend Sabor Criollo :)
Guaranteed good food. Excellent food, especially recommend the delicious sizzling fajitas. Small and cosy as long as door kept shut! Staff superb, really friendly and provide fantastic service. I have been many times and will be going back many more.
An excellent restaurant!!! We ate there as part of a hen (bachelorette) party. The staff were lovely, efficient and helpful. The food was excellent too! Very good cocktails. I loved the sangria. 5 stars!
Our scoring system has always been a necessary evil. It does tend towards a packed middle ground but it’s rarely been miles wrong in its sentiment. The most notable exception was the 12/20 for Wild (because of its icy environment and ponderous service) despite its relentlessly interesting food.
An odd anamoly is how many of my most favourite and recommended places have on their initial assessment attracted a 15 or 15.5. The list in no particular order includes: Purslane, Three Birds, The Dogs, Castello, Hula (subsequently scored an 18.5 by MJ)
The reason it springs to mind is here comes another one for a place that really impressed me.
Sabor Criollo had been on the list for a visit for a good wee while. After the Slow Food Edinburgh AGM had been concluded, I was delighted to give it a shot.
Showcasing a cooking style that bore a strong relation to that I’d sampled in Cuba, many years previously, the place traces its roots to Venezuela with a strong creole influence, hence the name.
Their below street level premises encompass an artificial indoor tree as part of the stylings of the cantina. I think it was Bert’s Bar on William Street that used to sport a similar thing. I was delighted to see another example of this hilarious internal design feature.
Their menu offered a good array of choices. I opened with calamares then chose a traditonal Venezuelan main course of pabellon criollo, the central element of which was slow cooked beef.
The starter was a simple and well executed dish. The squid rings were crisp and profuse. The accompanying aioli packed lots of zing. It was a lovely dish.
The main course was every bit as good. The nuggets of fried plantain were delicious and the avocado laden salad was very tasty. The beef was packed with flavour and the rice was excellent, too. It was a home-style dish that made me very happy.
So overall, I was really impressed by Sabor Criollo. It served me two very good dishes. The pricetag of two courses for £14.90 was incredibly reasonable. I look forward to visiting again, perhaps to try their cocktails.

Arepa’s were decent, only had two slices of plantains, a little pricey for the amount of filling. Service was friendly. We walked in without a booking, but bookings
seem to be preferred.
Popped in for a very quick late lunch when everywhere else was closed. We were the only two there. Our burritos and tacos were delicious. Extensive menu of Mexican and Venezuelan dishes. Cocktails served. Looked like a potentially lively place for the evening but I can't comment because I was there late afternoon.
First time going to this restaurant and we had a pretty good time. Starting with the food it was a little on the pricey side but overall we did really enjoy it. It had a homemade quality to it and we mean that in a good way.
This restaurant was quite small but in a cosy way however we did find ourselves unable to really hear each other due to a very loud table and loud music. We sat next to the counter and could hear the blender going off every 2 minutes which didn't ruin our evening however again was difficult to hear each other when speaking.
If your looking for a quiet meal out then this probably wouldn't be the place for you but if you don't mind some fun music and good food then I would recommend this place.
The most delicious food ever! I absolutely loved it ❤️
Absolutely amazing and delicious food, barely had time to take photos before we wolfed it all down! The woman who served us was very lovely as well, all in all a fantastic experience!
Would definitely recommend and will absolutely go back
Top notch food with world class service. From the start to finish was an amazing experience
It’s a nice place with a tasty food and cheap cocktails
Empanada and Arepa are my favorites here. So delicious!!!! And the people are so welcoming and the cocktails are also delicious!!! Dig in Gem in Stockbridge
Great place to try authentic South American cuisine. Very tasty dishes perfectly executed, and fried food was crispy and not dripping with oil. Fantastic beef & cheese filling in the empanadas, and a good wine selection to accompany. Very polite service, and overall meal was excellent. We'll definitely be back when in the area.

The food is amazing and the staff even better. I really don't get the fact that if someone isn't happy with their food, don't notify that to the staff and I'm pretty sure that they will fix it then. But noooo, is better to come to social media to badmounthed them.
