I teresting concept and design. Creative decoration and very big local.
Food is okay, a bit oily though but has very big portions.
I recomend the place.
Not too bad for an eat. I did enjoy the atmosphere of the place and he staff were all nice. The food was okay, not great but not bad either and it was decently priced. The wraps were quite small portioned with very basic filling (chicken, lettuce and sauce). Its okay for a cheap feed
Awesome, Great Food , Great Experience, Good Timing, Great Service I Have Been Here Many Times Great Atmosphere Good To Go Out With Friends
I'm always a bit scared when I go for a meal in George Street, sometimes I think you get to pay a lot for poor quality here it was the other way around! The standing order is an outstanding location and it's a place for every pocket. The food is cheap and tasty, I got a delicious Cesar salad and I shared small nachos with a friend. Good food and nice staff!
Visiting the bar yesterday, for what felt like the millionth time, the experience was largely the same. A quick and well priced bit to eat and a couple of cheap drinks. The lack of music is unerring, but it does make for a subtle ambience that you don't tend to find in many other bars where the latest chart music, or dullard classics and trendy acoustic artists invade your eardrums.
The grand architecture inside harks back to the days of yore for the building, and the bar which now takes centre-stage is incredibly long and the drinks selection almost unending. The food menu is, as expected, largely classic pub food at very good prices and the deals they carry throughout the week are excellent value for money.
Yesterday I had the 14oz Aberdeen Angus Rump Steak with a pint of Guinness, and it only came to £9.69. The food is of good quality, with the chips being one of the low points for the Wetherspoons chain, the Standing Order being no exception. The bar is hugely popular with professionals, families, young people and students, because it represents good value for money. Just don't expect the world.
Great Spoons venue in a magnificent old bank. The architecture is amazing inside and out. Good quality and good value for money. A pizza with haggis chillis and pepperoni made my day
As usual the toilets were about as far from the bar as possible, this time being downwards in the cellar half way to the centre of the earth.
Great choice of beers and the usual value for money on food and drinks, absolutely gorgeous building (previously a bank) and don't miss the chance to see the original chubb bank safe in one of the rooms.
Quintessential Wetherspoons experience. In a city where the crowds run rampant The Standing Order is a place of refuge. Our last day in the UK and in Scotland and we will be missing Spoons til we return. We have logged at least a dozen in our 4 week stay.
Went there several times when showing my parents around in Edinburgh. A nice place to have lunch with kids and we like the rooms which are more quiet than the open area. The food there may not be the best when compared with some other Wetherspoon but the atmosphere and decor are definitely great!
Interesting place to grab a bite and beer. Typical fare. Our group had a curry, eggs/chip/ham and a burger. A wide selection of beverages were on offer including pulled pints, local cider and spirits. The former bank gives a lot to look at from the decor to the architecture to other patrons.
Only came in for drinks. Standard wetherspoons but in a beautiful setting of the old theatre. Lively atmosphere which was great. Quick service. Delicious marshmallow gin with lemonade less than £4 so can't fault that. Only thing was I was asked for my ID twice despite being IDed by the security guard on the door.
Fabulous interior of this former Union Bank right in the centre if Edinburgh. Breakfast was good and very reasonably priced. It's really commendable that Wetherspoons brings these old buildings back so we can enjoy them.
The building is impressive and huge. Beer was good quality but food wasn’t a big deal. As the place’s main purpose is to serve drinks, the crowd can be very loud.
A really perfect example of a 'spoons at its very best. The building is grade 1 listed and is phenomenal with incredible decor - the ceilings and windows are lovely. 'spoons has done its usual minimalist conversion to turn it into a pub.
From the outside the building looks like it will have a dark interior, but there is extensive glazing in the main bar area which makes it light and quite bright on a sunny day. The bar's design is very in keeping with the style of the building and of a suitably impressive size. There are several smaller side rooms with a more intimate atmosphere. If the menu suits your meal preference, it is a great place to stop for refreshments - free refills on tea and coffee. As always, the selection of drinks is extensive and both food and drinks are well priced. No background music, just a pleasant rumble of human voices creates an interesting atmosphere - it feels like a public building, but not a boozer. Well worth visiting even if you don't want to eat or drink. Fabulous!
I went to this amazing pub by chance and it turned out that they serve one of the best fish and chips I have ever had. Their prices are decent and affordable. I paid around £10 for this meal and a soft drink included. Really recommend it.
