When I used to work on Grange Road the amount of options for lunch were limited as the distance between my office and the main road of Newington was too far to get there and back in enough time to enjoy your food. So the choice was either Tesco or Grange Takeaway. There was only really one winner (whenever money was not an issue).
Thanks to the fact that the place serves up some good food, I still visit every now and again. The coffees are all very good, with my favoruite the Machiato being my recommendation. The speciality sandwiches are all sumptuous and offer up a nice alternative to the tried and tested Tesco sandwiches.
A very good takeaway in the Newington/Grange area of Edinburgh and worth a visit if you are ever in the area.
Delicious food, affordable price and not too busy place. Therefore the staff is very friendly and nice. Tap beers are awesome and also diverse whiskey options ;) definitely suggested
Pleasantly surprised at the quality of food and overall enjoyable dinner we had here. The fish & chip and burger options were both excellent and very much enjoyed by us. (Vegetarian options for burgers also available.)
Had the informality of a local pub with quality food, an ideal destination for visitors.
To avoid confusion: This pub seems to have been recently renamed to the "Brass Monkey Grange".
Very nice place, food was good, staff friendly. We had burger which was good, served with double baked chips which were yummy. Would recommend this place.
Great pub food in the Newington area. Worth stopping by for a bite to eat if your in the area. Good selection of beers and friendly staff.
nice atmosphere, friendly staff, tasty food and amazing coffee, will definitely visit again !!
Delicious food with some very good burgers and chips and a nice selection of beers. We loved it here.
We had a lovely evening at pub. Food was fantastic with great selection of beers and wine. Have been several times and always been first class. Service and staff of a really high standard.
Excellent food, fantastic staff and a great atmosphere - what more do you need?
My partner and I and some of our friends came in for engagement drinks a few weekends ago and everyone made us feel so special! Emmett was incredibly accommodating, especially with our numbers being a bit difficult with a couple of people asking to join at late notice, and it meant we were all able to celebrate together and everything was top notch. Will come back for dinner at some point soon!!
Fabulous food well prepared, always look at the specials on the board. Welcoming team who looked after us really well. Good choice of beers again check the guest board. The haggis starter was just the right size and packed with flavours. The beef burger came with Blue Murder topping at modest extra cost and is much recommended. The Bouillabaisse was very rich and delicious. The vegetarian curry samosa huge. After two courses a third was a challenge we were only just up for. Sadly what was described as a creamy spiced rice pudding with apples and ice cream (home made) was even more solid than school versions, full of spicy tastes but required cutting not spoons. The sticky toffee pudding a bit too sweet, the chocolate torte excellent as the ice creams. Worth the journey . Parking on street and close by seemed to be easy after about 6.30.
Lovely location & a beautiful pub. Gorgeous bar with friendly staff.
I had the shellfish, excellent with a terrific sauce. Soda bread delicious.
Joan had the fish, shock, with the batter done to perfection. We will be back.
Great modern pub which manages to pull off spacious and stylish at the same time as cosy, friendly and local. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the kitchen do a great job of tasty food, fuss-free menu and good prices. Also, it's not often you come across a kids menu that gives you the same high-quality food as the adults - nice job!
