Decent place to eat and drink - food is quick and really tasty for what you get. I recommend the crispy katsu pad Thai noodles. Staff are really friendly and the bar has a decent selection of drinks. A great place to meet friends or have a quick dinner before heading out.

Best cocktails in town! Have been a frequent visitor over the years and it never fails to deliver. Always innovative with their cocktail menu and table service is a bonus. Ordered the alcoholic frappucino. Delicious. Be prepared to queue at the weekends!

Came here for a week late birthday meal with an old friend.
The menu is quirky and lots of fresh new ideas
We had a chicken burger and a normal one can never go wrong along with the platter for two and lot of food for two people but we managed.
The burger tasted of real beef, chips were not frozen and real potatoes and so very thick which were amazing top job.

Platter for two very nice pork belly skewers a new way to use pork belly well done, sweet potatoes fries just right, chicken strips nice made with real chicken, and corn on cob grilled with a sweet sauce just perfect.

Service was great too the waitresses happy and happy to recommend things from the menu and up for a bit of banter with the customers
I would highly recommend this place and I will return with friends

I always expect to hear the closing theme tune to Eastenders whenever I mention Treacle – I just cant seem to say Treacle without putting the Alroit in front of it! (for those that don’t know Cockney Rhyming Slang, Treacle means sweetheart and Alroit is Alright or Okay. Alroit Treacle translates into Okay Sweetheart?)

Treacle is a favourite place of mine whether it be for breakfast, lunch or dinner; you can always find something utterly delicious here.
Treacle is delightful, a lovely oasis close to where I live. I love its quirkiness and lush soft furnishings. It also has a really hip vibe in the evenings to match the vast easy-drinking cocktail menu.
Previous visits have included visiting for Sunday breakfast. Their French Toast is definitely up there with the best in Edinburgh . A nice stack of gooey egginess although somewhat stingy on the syrup but then again I love a lot of syrup. As you know I love my tea and I have to say that I do love their teapots. They are outstanding (no spillage you see!)

We called in after the cinema looking for a hot drink and a treat. Treacle offered this, although the day we were there, the coffee machine was out of commission so we had suki tea! I had the apple loves mint which was lovely and Ann had the Mango Tango which again hit the spot. The treat, Belgium waffle with nutella and ice cream. It was delicious and enough to share. The nutella was plentiful which meant we had enough for every bite!

Fun is not a word that is often associated with restaurants.

Relaxed is sometimes used, informal occasionally and quirky is usually as close as you will get.

In the case of Treacle I think fun is a perfectly acceptable term.

If you are looking for a more relaxed and slightly different meal to all the competition in the capital, head on down to Treacle, you’ll probably enjoy it!

Treacle is my midweek cheat day treat. It's a good place to catch up with friends whilst sharing a platter and downing a few cocktails and Aperol spritz. Friendly staff, decent prices and great music!

Living just at the bottom of Broughton Street helps when you can just manage to walk in a straight line!

Had a lovely cocktail and salad here. The interior is very different with a cartoony feel but I liked how unique it is and was probably one of the yummiest salads I've had!

Visited for dinner and cocktails and had the prawn banh mi (which was average) and the veggie burger - which was delicious! Nice homemade chips as well.

There's an impressive cocktail menu with unique and inventive drinks, although they are on the pricey side. I had a strawberry and balsamic concoction which was really tasty and unlike any other cocktail I've had before. I'd also highly recommend the spiced banana milk punch.

The service was also great - bar and wait staff were very friendly and helpful.

Kitsch decor, simple but tasty menu and fantastic giant cocktails. I had the tiger beef noodles and they were scrummy. The mikshake cocktails were HUGE and whilst expensive, you didnt need a top up. Added bonus is that they accept Tastecards so you can 50% off food!

Excellent Sunday brunch place! Lively, colorful, good service and super cocktails... The food takes second priority but its not that far behind. The spicy bean burger deserves a special mention along with their innovative sauces. Good, fresh and flavourful food with a good vibe.

Treacle is a great place to go for both cocktails and food. No matter what you order on the cocktail menu, you are bound to be in safe hands with their expert concoctions. Chances are, like me, you’ll work your way through a couple more than you originally intended!

Your Kids will Love it!!! I.... Your Kids will Love it!!!
I hope you remember the quote from "Back to the Future"... So Sunday night downtown Edinburgh looking for a restaurant serving fish or something light. My wife has noticed the "gluten free" and "vegetarian" labels and jumped right in! I tried to stop her seeing that all patrons could be our kids! Also the lei flowers, the TV showing Japanese cartoons, Japanese odd posters and the Pacific theme were kind of "Lost in Translation". But the mirage of "gluten free" won:). We were the only patrons not in late 20s:). But, once we start fiddling with our iPhones like everybody else we have been adopted! Probably out of embarrassment we have not been offered lei. But let's come back to the restaurant business. The salads we ordered were really good, the service (Mike) was excellent and the music ...loud... but up to date Top 40. The menu doesn't look sophisticated but everything is delicious. The espresso was not bad and the banana split divine. Regrets: we started with beers but noticed later the most exotic cocktails. Under traditional names like Mai Tai or Mojito I noticed surprising variations. So your kids will love it... and so you too!

Having this fabulous bar and restaurant at the top of my road has proved fateful to both my bank balance and my waistline. With an impressive drinks list, and a smorgasbord of culinary delights, this is very much my old and very reliable faithful. Fast approaching its second birthday, the good folk who brought you Hamiltons have added the same magic to Treacle, firmly cementing it as one of the places to be on Broughton Street.

From the varied and extensive menu we sampled both the organic steak and ale pie (£8.95) and the crispy chilli beef noodles with honey and sesame (£8.95). The steak and ale pie had a wonderful crust, with a centre that oozed onto the chopping board on which it was served. The steak was tender and the gravy was silky, it was the perfect steak pie. The accompanying chips accurately met their description of being on the larger side, and were deliciously crispy. The noodles were served in quirky New York style boxes, and were loaded with beef. The chilli and honey complimented the dish perfectly, giving it its glorious stickiness. In traditional boy girl style, my drink of choice was a glass of Pinot Grigio Rose (£4.90) whilst my dining partner had a pint of Staropramen (£3.80).

After such generous portions, we decided to only be half as greedy and share a pudding. We opted for the Belgian waffles with Nutella, served with ice cream and raspberries (£4.95). This was the ultimate pudding for me. The Nutella melted nicely against the warm waffles, which was perfectly complemented by the cold vanilla ice cream.

I'm sure you've already guessed how this review is going to end, but just to ensure I have been clear, our meal at Treacle was delicious. I thoroughly recommend it.

Folks, I'm just back from my fab-u-lous adventure in Canada, and my short few days back have been pretty much non-stop. So, perhaps the outside temperature isn't quite as balmy as I've been used to, but over the past few sunny days, our dear city has looked gorgeous. On Wednesday night I enjoyed some great company, a couple of glasses of vino (just to get back into the groove, you know) and sensational views thanks to to an invite from the lovely Kirsten at Eric Young & Co ' s to visit their panoramic roof terrace. Situated on the top of the old GPO building at the east end of Princes Street, the vist as over the city were sensational. I'm in wedding-mode at the moment, as one of my best buddies Louise has recently become engaged to Peter, and I'm totally chuffed that I'll be a bridesmaid on the big day next spring. Last night, we met up for a catch-up and cin-cin of glasses, before going to see the very apt and insanely hilarious ' Bridesmaids ' at the Omni. We decided on Treacle as a

Don't be fooled by the outside decor and 'pub chain' style logo..this place has a friendly relaxed feel and hefty menu.
I went for the vegetarian noodles with cauliflower tempura with a pok choi side. The pok choi is a little but salty, but I still enjoyed it.
Staff really make this place. Really friendly and always happy to offer advice

This stylish and vibrant place got me a really nice meal when I was at Edinbra, the staff is friendly although can get a little clumsy when the house gets crowded. The burger with Jack Daniel's BBQ sauce was really tasteful and its was enormous.. Treacle has a great vibe and definitely allowed me to retrieve some of that awesome Scottish lifestyle, along with their always welcoming locals.

We visited for valentines with our friends (not a double date though!). When I booked it the guys were really friendly and accommodating. We were promised very little Valentine's fluff, which was the case! When we arrived one of the waiters quickly got us seated and asked for drinks. The menu is not extensive, but a really good choice though. I had a burger and three others noodles, which were all really good and well presented. My only comment would be that it was very loud for dining in the restaurant / bar!

If someone asked me "What is your favourite cocktail ever!" Then I would of course answer with The Sherbet Martini in treacle. It's a wonderful little drink. Plus who doesn't like a lolly pop with their cocktail

like it here, why, cos it's 5 minutes walk from where I work and they do REALLY awesome bites!!!

It's a nice chill out zone with areas of sofa and lush cushions, or sit outside when it's sunny. Food is quick and freshly made and for a quick lunch the other day I ordered wine and nibbles. Need to come back for more. I've had a late dinner here ordered their chicken and peanut thai pad salad. Not bad at all! For a place that isn't thai, they have a few good thai mix dishes here.

Otherwise, go sit outside, sunglasses on, glass of wine and order the crispy tiger prawns, coconut chicken, crispy beancurd, home made chips and their peanut sauce and chilli orange jam, sharing platter for one please :)

I had a great lunchbreak here - funky decor, chirpy staff, and a menu with plenty to shout about. Personally loved the seared beef, orange and honey salad and had a smooth flat white to top it off. I think I'll be back for something a bit stronger next time...

Popped in here randomly on a Sunday to get a breakfast/brunch. Very big helping and good value for money. The beans were delicious. It’s a nice space - don’t know what it would be like at night. The staff member on was really nice and friendly. The bathrooms are exceptionally clean (despite the blue door for men and the pink for women) - overall a nice vibe and not as busy as some other places for a quick bite to eat.

The food is fresh, modern, and flavoursome. The staff are friendly and helpful. And the cocktails? Incredible and tantalising! I came for a solo dinner and ended up staying most of the night. The atmosphere is a chiller understated cool vibe and the music is a variety of 80s, 90s, and current pop.

It’s a nice place to have a week end brunch with friends. The food is delicious but the portions are small. The staff is fine. The overall is positive and it’s a nice bar in a very central area. Definitely to try if you are nearby!

Nice Scottish breakfast but service a little slow not the fault of the servers as there only seemed to be 2 of them. Never had haggis before but it was really nice ... spicy dryish stuffing texture but tasty. £12 including Latte. Service charge is automatically added on to bill.

A little bit of the beaten paths is the Treacle is nice bar and restaurant which provides a laid back atmosphere. A solid beer selection and and even bigger menu for cocktails, as well as a variety of food comprising two vegetarian options and a really friendly staff - what else could you and for?

I enjoy a great guinness and whiskey sour. Treacle really did the job during my edinburgh bar hop. Andy the bartender who did the cocktails did a fantastic job and was so welcoming. Will definitely make this a regular pit stop

I hopped into this restaurant during my Christmas trip for a quick dinner. Not from the name but the Indian essence provided by this restaurant is at par. We tried lot of Indian food including pav bhaji and everything was intact. So during our 4 day trip we had chance to have food from their thrice. Staff was good and friendly, location was great. I was too busy enjoying food that I forgot to take any pictures. 😁

The owner and the manager are really nice, they always seem happy and full of energy, they are always attentive to us when we go there. It's a nice atmosphere and the manager is really funny, he protected me and my friends from some guy with a mustache and a big nose molesting the men.
