Reviews The Voodoo Rooms

My husband and I needed some good music. Coming from Liverpool I'm surrounded by talented musicians all the time, so my standards were pretty high!

We came across the open mic night which suited us fine. A band played, an acoustic act and a guy called Robert played too who's voice I was memorised by. I met a wonderful bass player, Rod there too. Definitely worth going there.

I enjoyed the atmosphere and the service. This place was across the street from my hotel, and I was in the mood for bar/pub food. The Voodoo Rooms was very nice. We had focaccia bread sandwiches for lunch and the table water had cucumbers and mint it in, DELICIOUS. I got a beer on tap and the service was good. The food was fresh and affordably priced.

A gorgeous, quirky bar with a fab, relaxed, friendly atmosphere and the drinks were delicious! Well worth a visit if you’re in Edinburgh! The Interiors are great, with a few different rooms, so plenty of places to sit!

Excellent service from Courtney and Kai. We had the Bruschetta, olive tray, teriyaki prawns, and the fries to eat. They were all wonderful. Artemis, Free Bird, Not So Innocent, Rye Old Fashioned, Wray & Ting, and Cherry Trace were our drinks of choice and they were fabulous!

Excellent food for fair prices. The staff was very friendly and the menu has plenty of options for everyone. The atmosphere is nice, it's all in the same style and the location is easily reachable. All in all had a great diner here and definetly advice you to visit the place.

Excellent all around. The prices are fair, the atmosphere is unique and well-done, and the drinks are stellar! Honestly, I was surprised by the food. I expected it to match the hyper-casual, almost youthy punk tone of the music and attire but it came out looking and tasting like fine dining. Were we local, we'd be regulars.

Friendly staff, great cocktails and the food (specifically the burger and fries) was delicious. Generous food portions and overall good value for money. The atmosphere was buzzing and decor is impressive! The only reason I didn't give it the full 5 starts (would give 4.5 if I could) is that the toilets could do with a good clean and revamp.

A bit noisy in a busy Friday night, but that's pretty much all I can say on the negative side. The service was perfect, and the waitress (Tanisha) even spoke a way better French than my poor English. The food was incredible (the prawns) and the cocktail I took was delicious.

What a gem. Just stumbled into this nice bar, where you can get really good food at reasonable prices, vegan friendly and awesome cocktails.

This place is a gem! I greatly appreciate a vegan option, an actual tasty one at that! The mushroom stroganoff was perfect! It was so flavorful! My non vegan friend even picked into my plate. Great drinks! The staff were friendly and attentive! The decor of this place was amazing; looked like something out of a movie. I’ll definitely slide by on my next trip!

I have some great memories of being in the bar upstairs and in all the function rooms from ceilidhs to discos, festival events to friends parties. They do them all. Highly recommended. Also in the bar upstairs the food is tasty and the cocktails are very nice. The place we had for my friends party is like the 80s disco room so the dance floor is straight out of Saturday Night Fever. Is it the only one in Edinburgh?! I don't know for sure. Feel the toilets in this room could be done with a revamp and maybe some plumbing as sometimes they smell. That's my only gripe. Very central location too so easy for transport.

The place is a little gem in another wise fairly gentile area. It has an atmosphere which I have a feeling changes from during the day and the evening. My experience was during the day. The service was prompt and the staff friendly and knowledgeable about the drinks. The collection of whiskeys was good and had one I have never heard of. A dear friend introduced this place to me and I would highly recommend it to all visitors to Edinburgh.

Had a cocktail masterclass with the talented and very knowledgeable Rory today. Definitely recommend, can't comment on other staff members but if you are lucky enough to be paired with Rory, you'll have a great time and learn lots about cocktails and booze 🍸🍹

Quite tricky to locate but worth the perseverance. It’s upstsirs above another pub. The bar is quite small but looks really impressive with its huge high ceilings and beautiful windows. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty quiet with a really laid back feel. Perfect for drinks with friends or as a couple. Felt too grown up and peaceful for children or family’s. The service was excellent but we did notice people starting to wait as it got busier. It didn’t bother us, cocktails take time to make! Good bar snacks, good cocktails and gorgeous decor.

A dazzling premise with splendid ornate ceiling. Food was great despite limited choices on menu. The cocktails we had were not as impressive, the tea for tiger was too sweet for us. We would go for something stronger next time.
