We came in for a Saturday lunch today with my Mum and Step Dad. I love the venue and always have a good feed here. The menu is really varied and the selection of drinks and cocktails is super. The staff were friendly and we had a lovely afternoon. The only thing I took a star off for, was that they gave us the wrong dessert. This was changed as soon as I mentioned and the waitress was very apologetic. They then forgot to put through a cocktail order and had to put this through again for us when we asked where it was. Then when the bill came we were charged for the wrong dessert. Again the waitress was apologetic and removed this for us, but in my opinion this unfortunately was worth removing a star. The waitress in question wasn’t taking down any notes when we were ordering (4 people) so this is maybe why errors were made? Regardless, I will still return and just urge the staff to take a little bit more of an attention to detail for such things.

We had a birthday lunch here on Saturday 1st April. A few of our party were late (thanks Edinburgh roadworks) but staff were great and never felt rushed. I had the linguine which was excellent and good sized portion. Burgers were a popular option and also got the thumbs up. Never had a starter so to keep myself for dessert but some nice options on the menu. The dessert menu had a lot of variety and some nice options like 'trio of desserts' and small dessert and hot drink. They were excellent as were the staff and a nice touch to add 'Happy Birthday' to the plate.

We had our wedding reception at the Salisbury Arms and we couldn't ask for a better place and a better team to work with. We struggled to find a place that would accomodate 45 people in a semi-private space and that matched our wedding style. When we walked in a year and half before the wedding we knew that was the one. We had the best time, the best food and the best service. Thank you to manager Marek who has been so understanding, patient, and prompt with all the prep that was required and for the entire staff that evening for making our wedding reception the best we could wish for.

First time in UK and was very interested in a Sunday roast. This place did not disappoint. The mac n cheese was one of the best I've ever tried at any restaurant. Service was great and the food was delicious. Portions are large and well worth the price.

we went there twice and it was very good! the cheesecake was one of the best i ever had! my dad has a gluten allergy so we asked about gluten free food and it was no problem! i found the ciabatta a bit too dry and the haggis cakes don't go too well with the overpowering mustard dip. it was still tasty though.

As this is our second visit, you can probably tell that we were not disappointed with our first visit. On this occasion we dined in the dedicated restaurant area which is situated up a small flight of 5 steps. The atmosphere was good and we could hold a quiet conversation with everyone on our table, but most importantly, the food is excellent and reasonably priced for the high standard of presentation and taste. If you want a filling starter to share, then I would recommend the garlic cheesy pizza. We used a Birthday voucher which entitled us to a free starter, main and dessert when purchased alongside a full price 3 course meal. We were totally stuffed with great food. We will return again when visiting our friend in Edinburgh.

Greatest "oops" on our trip was not having lunch plans and ending up here after hiking. Great food, attentive staff, gorgeous set-up.

First of all, I'm really sorry to give you only a four, but unfortunately you fell short of your usually high standards for our last visit. Arriving for a Sunday booking after driving up from home, we were advised there were no roast dinners left. Without this, the menu was a little restrictive, especially for our veggie contingent. The team, however, worked hard to do their best to give us an excellent experience regardless. The food we could order was to your usual high standard. I trust this is a temporary blip, or explained by us coming at a non peak time or something, as my previous experience has been much better. Sadly, the decisions on where to eat are not made by me, so we will see whether the decision makers want to come again.

Absolutely Delicious! Very very nice, food prepared and cooked to order by an actual chef and excellent staff. The scallops were particularly good, This is the food I like to eat not the reheated microwave slop you find in nearly every pub/eating house throughout Britain. A pleasure to eat here and recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh.

A very nice place with lots of character and atmosphere. We ended up here for Saturday lunch without reservations as we were in the vicinity. The staff was helpful, however we found a table outdoors in the garden. There is a range of ales and beers to choose from. The food menu was extensive, the fish was greasy and the balmoral chicken was dry. All in all a pleasant place.

We've been coming here for a few months and it's always been amazing. From the bar to the restaurant, all of it is a 10/10. Hannah and Jonathan looked after us, impeccable service as always! ✨

EXCELLENT SUNDAY ROAST Came here with a reservation for four people on Sunday at 4:30. Even though we arrived a little early the staff were nice enough to accommodate us. Whilst we were there, they were busy so we had to flag down the staff a couple of times or we would have been waiting a while. I would say that the service could be a little better if they came by more often to check and follow up. I got the soup of the day for starters which was tomato soup and it was splendid. Packed with flavour and had great consistency. Following that I got the roast which was awesome. The beef was succulent and delicious. All the trimmings were excellent including the sauteed greens and the roast potatoes were spectacular. Really crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I could have had 20 of them. It would have been ideal to have a little pot of gravy to pour. Then for dessert I got the crème brûlée which had a lovely light vanilla flavour that balanced out quite nicely with the rich cream. It was a really great meal and I look forward to coming back after a hike up Arthur's seat!

Lovely place to visit for a nice decent meal fancy or not - could be business dinner- but also a nice family outing. Dog friendly and kids friendly! The Christmas decorations were lovely and there is a nice cozy feeling you get by entering. The staff is very kind and helpful and smiley! The meals were in good portions and quite tasty. The dirty burger was a big hit in our group- the three roasts was nice but not the best we’ve had. Kids meals are ok for very little ones. The kids burger was tiny for the 6 year old in our group but the fish and chips was more than enough for our 5 year old! The winner of course is always the sticky toffee pudding! We nearly got upset thinking it was not in the menu anymore confusing the vegan desserts menu with the regular one! Oh and by the way- ideal to visit if you’re vegan!!! Most importantly we enjoyed the fact that the children were free to roam and play in the entrance by the Christmas tree and no one came to tell them off. Very polite staff. Of course we’ll be back.

What a wonderful restaurant. Beautiful decor with a great patio, and mountain side view. The food was delicious, tasty, hot and fresh. I had the chicken with baked mac and cheese and my friend had the lamb. The staff was friendly and helpful. Had the honor of having a conversation with one of the staff Gav. Such a pleasant person and enjoyed the conversation with him, he was very helpful. If you are visiting Edinburgh, I would recommend you try this restaurant.

Great staff work seamlessly together to make dinner at Salisbury Arms a delicious, delightful and fun experience. The ambiance and table placement in the restaurant area enhance the creative cuisine which was the best we've had in Edinburgh.
