We rolled up without booking, this was not a problem. We had lovely egg dishes followed by pastries. Service was excellent and no stress. Think probably best to book as sure it gets very busy
The food is extraordinary, nice decor, the view is OK only thing we can see is the Castle but that’s enough. The staff is professional and friendly
My wife and I took my dad and partner for a quick bite to eat at lunch time. We just caught brunch (with the manager checking that we could) and it was excellent. I'm a big fan of Eggs Benedict it was very tasty. For me it might have had a little too much sauce but that's just me. We also got some fresh pastries which were divine! Lovely ambience and great food. Service could have been a tad quicker but nothing bad by any standard. Would definitely head there for brunch again.
I've been to the Tower Restaurant a couple of times now - once for dinner and another for brunch. The first meal was a fabulous three course affair - rich but tasty. Brunch was equally good - my favourite is Eggs Florentine. The eggs were perfectly poached although the hollandaise was a little heavy/rich. The rest of the family went for Eggs Benedict and they were equally pleased. We also ordered the mini pastries which were freshly made and lovely. A pleasant experience overall.
When Tower Restaurant opened in 1998, Edinburgh’s restaurant scene was morphing. A new wave of bistros and gastropubs was arriving. Testament to its staying power then that The Tower, most definitely in the fine dining camp, has stood its ground and the test of time. Not to say there haven’t been changes. At one time a little formal and fussy, this visit revealed a restaurant in its stride, with a choice of table d’hôte or à la carte menus.
The Tower is such a splendid setting for a special night out. Breathtaking views, superb food, excellent service and exquisite atmosphere. The Table D'Hote menu is great value for such a divine setting. If only it were warmer on the few occasions I've been we could have enjoyed the terrace.
very good food I love the taste of food I love everything this restaurant is little near from my motal and I love this restaurant ?????
Excellent food - don't rush.... We had a superb Sunday lunch at the Tower. The food was excellent, particularly the Cullen skink that both my wife and I had. Our main courses were also excellent. Service was a bit slow, but solid. Nice champagne offered with the two course lunch. The site is great, and so is the view. Highly recommended.
Fantastic!. Fantastic food, best steak I have eaten. Deserts were awesome as well. And the service was fantastic. Best restaurant I have eaten at in Edinburgh.
Fabulous venue for an excellent evening out. Amazing night time views of the castle. Inspired menu and very pleasant staff.
Fabulous food, well prepared, exquisitely presented and full of the flavour you would expect.
Service is quick and extremely friendly with personable staff and a great range of local dishes and exceptional wines. a great place for some great food.
Prices are on the higher side so for me this is more of a date night treat with the wife than a dinner and chat with friends, but the view is astonishing.
We had gone for lunch. Excellent food and lovely view. The wine selection is decent. Not inexpensive though.
Went for afternoon tea here as a treat with my mother. Wasn't too busy but pre booking recommended. Lovely views of Edinburgh. Very nice staff very attentive. And they were more that happy to accommodate my dietary requirements. However I didn't feel it was worth the price! I would much rather splash out that bit extra and head to the balmoral. Still had a lovely day.
Excellent. Wow location to start with, overlooking Edinburgh town centre. On entry, one is immediately made to feel very welcome by the friendly and attentive staff. The location is superb, unfortunately it was a cold winter evening when we visited, so clearly we could not sit outside. The food was excellent and freshly cooked. A good wine selection too, and the attention to detail was great. Not inexpensive, but great value - thoroughly recommend.
Love dining here always decent food. My wife (Ruth) and I have been coming here for special occasions ever since we met in 2003 and have never been disappointed. We have enjoyed many amazing starters from pea and ham soup with Highland black pudding and locally caught scallops to delicious beef and lamb and international wines from every corner of the Earth
Food was delicious - good location, even though I didn’t realise it was in the Museum haha. Service was great, glass always topped up. Price was ok - have set menus if you wanted something nice but were watching the pennies
We had a genuinely very enjoyable brunch. We had the restaurant to ourselves for almost the entire meal. The staff were excellent by being friendly, attentive but not overbearing. Surroundings were stylish. Food was tasty. Thoroughly good all round.
The food was fantastic across the board. We had the scallops appetizer, crab appetizer, lamb, asparagus with deep fried poached egg, and the peanut butter mousse for dessert. We got a table right away at 2:30 and loved the view of the castle. The service wasn't great and we had to ask for the bill twice after waiting 20 minutes, but the great food and quiet, calm atmosphere made up for it.
Really good brunch food with a great view of the castle. Very good service. The decor could do with a bit of an update but a great experience nevertheless.
Worth every penny, but you're looking at around £75 per head.
We had a sharing steak
Sides
Starters
Bottle of prosecco
Food was BEAUTIFUL, like.... BEAUTIFUL. Cost around £150
Small restaurant which is perfect as it's quieter than usu restaurants.
Was perfect for Valentines
Such a fantastic location. It is run by the same people who run The Witchery. The food is sublime and the menu updated often. The non-alcoholic drinks are amazing and the service is brilliant! The view from the Tower is amazing and if you can get the right table you can see the castle. Such an excellent place.
Just great! Group booking went so well, food lovely, food excellent and staff very welcoming and efficient
Great place to go for special occasion...bit pricey, but they do have set menu which is good value. Staff attentive and professional, food great!
The tower restaurant within the national museum of scotland is a great place to enjoy a tasty lunch, high tea of dinner. It has an excellent view of Edinburgh Castle and the surrounding city. All employees enjoy their work place en jobs and with their enthusiam they create an experience you won't forget. The food is well prepared and the price quality ratio is very good.
Wide choice of meals. Good, friendly service. Lovely surroundings. Spectacular views from the terrace.
Wonderful taste of Scotland at reasonable prices. So much fun and great views!
Excellent Christmas meal here with my work recently. Amazing views of the old town and Edinburgh Castle. Staff were excellent.
High quality food and a great view of the castle. I was here for the Sunday Roast and I absolutely recommend it.
One of the best election to get an "Afternoon Tea" with a real good value price and astonish views to the castle. Service is very good and matchs the venue.
Wonderful views, lovely food, warm and professional service and desserts to die for!
One of the finest views of the castle with coffee and customer care if equal quality!
