After eventually getting a table after booking in advance (Strongly Advised) we were astonished by how lovely the interior of the restaurant was! The waitress/waiters were the best, always seem to know when you needed them for something like extra drinks! The food was superb and the food was expensive but worth the cost! I don’t think the place is setup for catering for young children but you could always check!

We just had the light lunch and Sophie was our server. Sophie is an absolute gem! We immensely enjoyed the entire experience. The food and ambiance are amazing and the staff are amazing. The Witchery could come off as pretentious if you are not into fine dining, but the staff make the experience accessible and inviting. I was really looking forward to this experience, and it was better than I had hoped! Definitely do this if you are even remotely curious about the Witchery!

Service is friendly and professional. The food is exceptional. We ate in the original dining room, so cozy and the next day in the Secret Garden dining room, which is enchanting and airy. Again, the food was delicious, and the dessert was amazing. Loved both rooms! Truly special.

I went for lunch with a friend. Really good restaurant. Decor and ambiance is superb. Oysters and mushroom velouté were perfect.Venison and halibut also perfect. Very well balanced. Dessert was too heavy and sugary to our taste. But it's something I noticed in the UK, dessert tend to be quite heavy. As a French, I prefer light dessert options and smaller portions. Overall, will recommend it and definitely return if I go to Edinburgh again!

We didn't stay, but enjoyed an absolutely incredible meal in the garden terrace. The service was outstanding and the food was AMAZING! I also had a couple Bellinis and the peach puree in them was so good. I don't have a single criticism of The Witchery. It was a flawless afternoon at a beautiful historic site with impeccable service. If I could give them a higher rating I would.

Overall, it was a delightful experience. While there were a few aspects that could be improved upon, the steak, interior ambiance, and decent risotto and mushroom dish made it a worthwhile visit. Let's start with the highlight of the evening—the steak. It was cooked to perfection, tender, and bursting with flavor. The chef truly knows their way around a grill, and it was evident in every bite. The quality of the meat was excellent, and I appreciated the attention to detail in its preparation. Moving on to the risotto and mushroom dish, I must admit it was a bit underwhelming compared to the steak. While it was satisfactory, it didn't quite live up to the same level of excellence. The flavors were decent, but I felt it lacked that special touch that could have elevated it to the next level. Nevertheless, it was still an enjoyable accompaniment to the main course. The interior of the restaurant is undoubtedly a sight to behold. The ambiance exudes a certain charm with its tasteful decor, creating a pleasant atmosphere for diners.

We came for lunch and were blown away by both the food and the atmosphere. Beautiful building with equally beautiful decor. The beef tartare was delicious. We will be back!

One of the best meals we've had in years. Affordable in the context of a high end meal. Yes they have bottles of wine for £4500.00 if that's your speed. We two were able to have our special night out for £250 for both meals and a nice bottle to share. The space is incredible. Ancient tapestries on the walls, art, sculpture, greenery throughout. Service perfectly on point with wait staff buzzing about like bees, not too intrusive, and not too standoffish. Helpful and friendly. I had pigeon in a puff pastry that was delicious, and the duck in a lovely sauce as my entree. Portions were filling and I did not feel shorted. A wonderful experience.

We stayed here for 5 nights in the inner sanctum suite in March 2023 - it was a total dream. The service was completely unmatched. The room was UNREAL. It felt like we were transported back in time and were royalty. Everyone on staff knew us by name and seemingly had a dossier on our preferences. If we had even the smallest request it was taken care of within minutes. The room was extravagant and to see every detail would have taken us all trip, going back to the room each day was heaven. We also had lunch at the restaurant, which was maybe some of the most delicious food we’ve ever eaten in our lives. I know some reviewers say they receive poor service when not drinking alcohol but that was not our experience. The fish pie was divine.

I only dined here so my review only regards the restaurant. It is a place with a very interesting decor and very nice service. The food is good (not extraordinary) but it is greatly overpriced for the portion size. I would recommend though for a romantic dinner.

It’s been some time since I’ve been to the Witchery, but I recently had the pleasure of dining at their Secret Garden after seeing a number of Fringe shows in late August. After being warmly welcomed in, we were shown to what is a very intimate restaurant lit dimly with candles and flowers adorning the room. So very romantic if that is what you’re aiming for. The food was all delicious, with the Lamb Wellington being the highlight for my partner and I. Cocktails were fabulous and the wine list is one of the most comprehensive I have seen. The service was wonderful. Always on hand to help, but not distracting you from enjoying your evening. As we left, we caught the Edinburgh Tattoo marching past the front door. The perfect end to our dinner here. I will return.

We only dined in the restaurant so can’t rate the rooms. Beautiful gothic candlelit restaurant. Food was excellent if expensive but there wasn’t enough reasonably priced wines that I saw in the big book. You needed to fiend £90 plus a bottle .

The food was absolutely incredible. Beef tartar starter was so flavourful and smooth. The mushroom lasagna was stunning, so filling and delicious. Absolutely beautiful place but the servers were hands down the best part. Valentina was fantastic, so personable, so funny and lovely. Ifrahm was absolutely lovely too. Valentina was fantastic, 10/10

The Witchery is a very fancy eating establishment where you'll get great quality food but at cost. The staff are friendly and the wine list is very extensive if you're into that. Staff seem knowledgeable if you're unsure what to get or want something specific from the wine list. I had the haggis starter & partridge whilst my fiance had the scallops and mushroom lasagne and a side of triple cooked chips. The decor and feel of the place is quite Gothic, clues in the name mind. It's located on the route up towards the castle so it's quite hilly, you'll have earnt your food if you've walked there. Worth a visit if you're looking for something high end and fancy during your stay in Edinburgh!

Came to the restaurant. Probably the best fine dining in Edinburgh. The atmosphere is very nice with lit candles at the table and a very friendly staff. Restrooms are clean and well put together. Food is very good, isn't rich or heavy and has the best haggis I've ever had. Great location and very cool interior. Extremely various wine and alcohol list. Highly recommend if you're willing to pay for it.

Enjoyed the food immensely, the Pink Lady Tart Tatin was delicious. Loved the decor and ambience. The pricing is expensive but worth it for a treat. My only criticism would be for the menu to include some more vegetarian dishes. Staff were excellent and very attentive.

My husband and I came here for our 30th Anniversary. We made a reservation the night before and mentioned we were here on our anniversary. When we arrived they sat us at a very nice table and said Happy Anniversary! The staff was so nice, so polite and so welcoming. The food was absolutely fantastic!!! The ambience was so nice! We had a cheese plate and port for dessert and the plate actually said Happy Anniversary on it. Wow! After we paid they called the taxi service for us and let us know when it had arrived. I couldn't imagine a better anniversary experience then this. Give this place a try if you're ever in Edinburgh you won't regret it. Thank you for making our anniversary so memorable!!!
