We were looking for a good Ramen place to eat since morning we found this small place near a venue we were heading for a show, we stopped to checked the place an this was busy yet so warm and welcoming that we decided to sit there, it's a small place can manage 08-10 people at a go luckily they managed to get us seated and boy the dishes the chef was preparing was so awesome that you must visit this place. I'm a vegetarian and the ramen i had was one of the best i ever had.
picture won't do justice to the food and the flavor it had i was lucky to step into it and get what i was looking.

the staff is very warm and courteous and super fast service they have.

Went here recently for dinner. We both had the fried noodles which were really good. Not a great deal of space between the tables though and seating is stools. Other than that the food was good

Very generous portion of sushi I must say! Although I have to be honest that each brand has quite different standard 🤔. I particularly found the one in Old Town as the best for sushi and Maki & Ramen in Morningside is best for ramen.

Absolutely love this place!

I am huge Asian foodie as so is my husband. We stumbled across this place by accident. You will be lucky to get a spot to eat as they only have a tiny bar area that wraps around that fits a small number of people.

The restaurant is quaint and cosy and make a you feel as if you could be eating in down town China town in a rainy New York.

The sushi is some of the best and freshest I have ever tried. Everything was perfect about it. The endemame beans were just right too! One of my favourite snacks! My favourite was the accompanying seaweed salad. I would eat that by the bucket load!

We also ordered a bowl of ramen to share. We added an egg as an extra, which I feel should be a standard, but besides that it was really delicious. The noodles were cooked perfectly, the pork was succulent and the broth was heart warming.

Love their food and cannot wait to go back soon!

I came here on Saturday evening. Expected the place to be very busy so I decided to book in advance. I've never been before so when we arrived I was actually surprised how small this place is. The place has long tables so be prepared to sit next to strangers. The staff is very friendly and they actually make the sushi front house so you can see their great skills. The food was very nice. I had the beef curry ramen with boiled egg. It was a half portion but I found it quite big. There was only one piece of beef which would be my complain about the ramen. There was also quite a lot of sweet corn which I would limit but other than that I liked how spicy and tasteful the ramen was. As for the sushi we opted for the dragon set. It was lovely and contained enough for two after the ramen soup. The cool thing about Maki & Ramen is that you can leave personalised notes on the wall. We did that as it's good fun! It's also BYOB but they charge a small feel for bringing beer and wine. Overall, this was a lovely Saturday dinner and I'll be back for more!

Lovely Tiny place! I went for dinner with Urban Traveller and i had ramen for the first time, the curry One with soy marinated egg and then we shared the red dragon sushi plate, it was delicious, staff very nice even if definitely new and not too ready to answer question. I'll definitely go back only down is that being very Small is perfect for Two but not large groups even if they have a couple of tables downstairs

This tiny japanese restaurant near Nicholson Street is such an amazing find. Their ramens are yummy but their sushi is even better. With complimentary hot green tea I almost felt like i was back in Tokyo. It may become a local favourite easily...

Having been open for a little over a month, we were delighted to finally be visiting Maki & Ramen on West Richmond Street, to check out the sushi and noodle soup delights. I was joined today by regular guest quester Arianna, who had previously quested to Kalpna and Namaste Kathmandu, amongst other places.

Maki and ramen is awesome! The food is really tasty and the sushi freshly made with lots of care, plus the staff are really friendly.

The menu is a little paddle board with 3 ramens and 2 noodle dishes, you can have small portions for £3.80 which are great if you want to order some sushi or teriyaki to go with it. The main size is about £7. They also do rice in broth and the meat options are char Sui belly pork, chicken or vegetables and tofu.

I had the hell ramen - rich tasty broth with a good level of spice and a dragon roll which was awesome. My friend Gyoza dumplings were really tasty too.

Amazing experience! The place is small but cozy, the staff is very friendly and the food is really tasty. The waiter forgot a part of my order and deeply apologized about that, offering us the dessert for free. Our experience was so good that I insisted on skipping over the freebie and paid the full price + tip. The place is small but this makes it even more exclusive / special. In front of the sitting space there is a wall full of post-its created by the guests, and you can add your own like we did 🍣. If you love ramen / sushi, you can't miss this place!

Black Tonkotsu ramen is sooo good! They offers sushi and vegan ramen too. The ambience is calm and cute with its sticky notes. Staffs were accomodating. Will be back to try more.

Following a rainy walk around Edinburgh, my husband and I were in the mood for a warm meal and stumbled upon this charming restaurant. It exceeded our expectations in every way. The decor of the establishment was tasteful and inviting, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The food was simply outstanding. We decided to try the vegan black garlic tonkotsu ramen 🍜 and share a portion of vegan Gyoza 🥟. The ramen was especially remarkable, with a thick, flavorful broth that was infused with the subtle yet delightful taste of black garlic. In fact, we enjoyed the meal so much that we plan to return during the week. On weekends, the restaurant is frequently packed, but we look forward to experiencing it again soon.

The staff were excellent, service was quick and the food was incredible. The grilled sushi set tasted just like it does in Japan (and I have tried many places that have not come up to par).

Cute little spot, but this location does have minimal seating. Only ordered the takoyaki, which had too much batter and not enough octopus for me. However, my friends said that their ramen was great!

If you like spice, go for the hell Ramen, it's really good! It has a fair kick to it but it isn't crazy buldak noodle level spicy.

Probably the best (spicy) ramen in Scotland … Been here several times and the quality remains the same with superb service! Even though they now have several other branches, I still preferred this tiny cozy original shop which I first visited 6 years ago …

My husband and I went in for their ramen one evening. I had a bowl of tonkotsu ramen and I honestly think that it was the best ramen I’ve ever had, even better than the one in London (Kana**-Ya). No joke. The broth was super rich and the ramen was cooked to the right consistency. We were served by Andrew, who was really nice and cheerful, which made the whole dining-in experience that much better. To me, there’s no point in going back to a restaurant if the staff are rude, even if the food is good. Good food isn’t hard to come by these days, but good service is. Visited on: 1 July 2023

I ordered the black garlic soup ramen and it was good. Not the best one I've had but it does the job. Kept my friend and I full and the takoyaki was good as well! Cause it is a smaller branch, so it's a little smaller compared to the other outlets, means lesser availability during peak hours.

I had the Spicy Chicken Teriyaki, it was absolutely amazing. It is a small shop but that makes it cozy. The wall in front of you if covered in little drawings people made and you can make one yourself too. Allround a very nice and affordable place to eat.

Excellent Spicy Chicken Teriyaki Rice and Salmon Ramen, and the Salmon Nigiri side was good too. Washed down with Ramune for a quick post gym dinner. Staff super nice and friendly and service was rapid.

The food is so good, the black garlic tonkotsu was delicious and full of flavour. The staff were really friendly but unfortunately the restaurant itself is tiny and at peak times you have to be very lucky to get a seat in there for groups more than 1 or 2. We had to get a takeaway but that didn't take away from the quality of the food, it was great.
