Amazing. Really quick bite. Helpful and attentive service. Many varieties of fillings (meat, chicken, veg) and sauces (mild, medium, hot, extra hot). Vegan option available as well!

Attention anyone who is facing the Monday blues! Los Cardos is the perfect meal for a Monday night it's quick, budget friendly and tasty.
I have eaten a lot of Mexican food, as it's my favourite, and I can say that although Los Cardos is not the best I have ever had it was still really good. It's a similar style to Chipotle in the USA but it lacks the flavours Chipotle has. I'm a big lover of coriander and I feel it's not used enough at Los Cardos. Nevertheless, I have been to Los Cardos twice and both times I have enjoyed my meal. My usual Mexican takeaway food is a burrito bowl which I had on my first visit to Los Cardos. I enjoyed it, but I compared it too much to the USA. However, after reading a Buzzfeed article I decided to give the haggis burrito a try last Monday and loved it! The flavour of the haggis works really well with the Mexican flavours.
I don't think that the UK does Mexican food very well, especially compared to other countries, but Los Cardos certainly helps towards meeting my Mexican fix! This is my favourite Mexican takeaway spot in Edinburgh.

Tasty Treat. Following the great reviews on this site I decided to give Los Cardos a try. Having never tried a burrito I was nervous and excited !! The staff were both friendly and helpful and I plumped for the pork with pinto beans. I decided to eat it on the way home so jumped on the next bus to the Waverley station. Once on the train I unwrapped my silver parcel and was pleasantly surprised at how large it was. Even better was the first mouthful !! So juicy and moist and just spicy enough. All in all highly recommended. I only wish they would open a place in Livingston !!

Its a good one.. I love Mexican food and i did like this place. Had Tacos served in a cool tin try. Services was quick and like the fact you can see the chefs in the background/foreground cooking away. Tacos were full of flavor but a bit watery so i'm glad we sat in as it would have been messy. Note to self could go spicier next time.

All in all v Good.

Simply great. Have been before but on finding myself in Leith Walk on a rare day out of the work popped in and it was even better than before. Carnitas is superb. Best inexpensive lunch I've had in ages. Great background music too. Been here with my girlfriend and she loved it too. Very friendly and helpful

A Thoroughly Refreshing Arrival. Mexican food ain't hard too make - what's hard is making it well. Freshness is everything. Your meat has to be tender as kissing a newborn child & the salsa so full of zing it should be in Rogers & Hammerstein film.
I love Los Cardos - following the small, but noticeable slide of the Tailend since the original owner returned to Fife to set up the St Andrews branch, it can justifiably lay claim to being the best take-away on Leith Walk.
A stripped down menu allows the team to focus on producing a small number of options incredibly well. The main fillings are great (veggie haggis was born for Mexican food, never a sentence I thought I'd type) the salsas are phenomenal (well worth buying by the jar) and they make the only guacamole in Edinburgh I would willingly part money for.
The glass frontage, limited seating & clear takeaway focus means that I wouldn't choose to sit in unless I was grabbing a quick bite at lunch, but given that everything is served in compostable boxes you can take-away without the slightest hint of guilt.
All in all, Los Cardos has brought some much needed quality to Edinburgh's mexican food scene.

The ONLY real Burritos in Edinburgh. As an American and a long time consumer of Burritos all over the world, I can safely say that Los Cardos serves the only real Burritos in Edinburgh. Dont bother with the others, make the trip down Leith Walk and try these good value, fresh and tasty Burritos.

Very yummy homemade mexican. I took my family here for a quick lunch as I hadn't noticed it before and it looked very well run. All my family enjoyed it and its very child-friendly too. They have a take-away service, but we sat in. My little daughter couldn't get enough of their famous Haggis Burrito! In fact we had to get two. Praise indeed. All the food seemed very authentic - the owners say they came from the states. These lovely people deserve to do well! Stick your head in next time you're down Leith walk!

Excellent Fresh Mex. Full review on www.edinburghspotlight.com

Los Cardos has been open a couple of months now and is a welcome addition to the takeaway choices currently offered in Leith. The bonus with Los Cardos is that you can actually eat at one of the few tables inside if you don't live close enough to take the food home whilst still hot.
My dining partner and I asked how the menu worked amongst many other questions and was given clear information by the staff who were friendly and patient. I enquired as to how Macsween's haggis works inside the usual Mexican suspects of fajitas, burritos and quesadillas - but was reassured it was very tasty.

I couldn't decide between trying the haggis and the juicy Aberdeen Angus steak, so the staff member said I could half n' half which sounded like an excellent plan (£5.85). A variety of soft drinks are available to accompany the Los Cardos food - priced around £1 each. I was also allowed to taste the different salsas with a few corn chips to see how hot I could go (not very), which was great rather than risk ruining the meal as I'd gone one notch too hot.

My haggis/steak quesadilla combo was a first for me and the filling was of generous size and piping hot. The flavours worked well together and the steak had indeed been grilled to perfection. I added lashings of sour cream and salsa on top and munched my way to 'Fresh Mex' happiness.

My dining partner chose the basic burrito with black beans and some guacamole, cheese and salsa, £4.95. He went for the super hot sauce, so I stayed clear of tasting his dinner but he assured me that the contents were excellent.

Absolutely delicious. Personally one of my favourite take aways in the area. Staff is very professional, kind and helpful. All the food is always fresh, prepared for you, super tasty and how you want it. And on top of that everything is reasonably priced. You just can't go wrong wit Los Cardos.

I think this restaurant makes the best burritos in town. Guacamole, depending on the chef, is sometimes a bit bland.

Pretty decent burritos :) Good place for takeaway burritos, tacos, quesadillas etc. There is a wide selection of main fillings from veg haggis to chicken to steak. The limitations and extra charges on some fillings are a little annoying, with the jalapenos and guacamole being a little extra to have. The burrito was pretty good, and the staff here were very friendly!

Los Cardos is THE place to go if you want Mexican food in Edinburgh. I was not able to find a better place so far. Huge burrito, filled with a lot of good quality meat. Prices are perfectly reasonable for the portion you get. Make sure you grab a stamp card as you'll be back.

For some strange reason I only ever seem to be go here once a year or so, and this place is far too good to do that to. Burrito the size of my head packed full of delicious fillings, absolutely fantastic, can't recommend highly enough. Service was so friendly. Eat here, you will not regret it.

This shop is like Apple Inc. in that they don't have a wide variety of meals for sale, but what they do - they do it perfectly well! This is one of the very very few places where I don't ever get a taste of any poor, cheap or unpleasant ingredients. Of course, I dislike some. With their simple menu, They are so inclusive they cater for everyone's preference from Mexican street food to a Scottish fusion haggis burrito, veggie, halal, Angus steak filling and sometimes.. soup. My only comment is that my friend had the extra spicy sauce there once and didn't seem that affected or impressed by it. He described it as a "bit" like habanero (Scotch bonnet) and not as hot as some of his favourite curries! Fair enough, you don't want to harm adventurous customers or your staff serving it, but it's a Mexican!

This was my first time trying out Los Cardos and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered some food today via deliveroo/ended up phoning them directly. The guy I spoke to on the phone was really friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and it was delivered so quickly. Thanks a lot to whoever I spoke to on the phone, I appreciated your generosity :D definitely recommend.

Very good food, but they really need to change those rusty metallic bowls they serve burritos in. You can actually taste the rust if you eat out of it! The open kitchen could also do with a tidying up.

This is undoubtedly the home of the best burritos in Edinburgh. They serve chicken, beef, or carnitas (pulled pork), as well as haggis (I'm not sold on this, but lots of people love it). I usually go for either the standard burrito, or a bowl, and both are pretty big portions. They also serve mini tacos and quesidillas, which while delicious, aren't as satisfying as the burrito. Staff are friendly, and service is usually very swift.

This is joint first for me for Mexicans in Edinburgh with Illegal Jacks. The only down fall and why is isn't first is the restaurant isn't big enough. Los Cardos makes it simple to order, you can choose between 3 burritos, quesidillas, soft tacos or a burrito bowl (all the yummy insides without the wrap). From there you choose your filling from steak, chicken, pulled pork (my favourite choice), haggis (when in Scotland) and vegetarian. Portion size is perfect and always satisfies. Meals come with salsa and there is a wide range to ensure everyone from the spicy hot heads to the mild Marys such as me can have something. They offer a delivery service so if there is a group of you this may be a better choice. If sitting in it is quite a good atmosphere as the staff as all friendly and chatty and you can watch them prepare the meal right in front of you. My only advice is get there asap to see what you have been missing!

UGH I love Los cardos. Except when I'm waddling out the door with a ginormous burrito belly. (No, even then.) The service is great and very friendly, the burritos are huge, delicious, and great value... What more do you want?! The interior may be small but during quiet hours you can find a spot at the four or so wee tables inside if you font fancy stuffing your face full of burrito on the move. One thing worth noting is that this place is cash only. Also, veggie friendly: those veggie haggis burritos tho!! NOM.
