Good pub - never a bad choice
As others have said - it’s a decent pub, with reasonably priced decent beers and a good atmosphere & eclectic clientele. The tiles has ambience - and the decor is a real bonus but it would benefit from a spruce up!
We had Sunday Roast (beef), cranachan & sticky toffee pudding. All are delicious. The sunday roast beef was quite big. But we were all hungry, so we finished it all.
Our first stop after a long train from Newcastle. The place has a great atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We had a nice corner table to accommodate our toddler. We ordered Haggis Neeps and Tatties. I made my parents try it and they liked it! We also had the classic fish and chips, which was also pretty good!
An unusual place, more of a bar than a restaurant. Staff were efficient but not very happy. Food was good and reasonable price for centre of city. We had haggis and it was excellent.
It was our first bar to enter in Edinburgh. We were rather hungry after a long train ride from London, and we wanted to watch the arsenal match. The staff were very happy, smiley people. The food was amazing. Great service.
This bar is usually packed, so getting a seat is rare, getting a table even more difficult. However, on our last visit, we did manage to get a seat opposite the bar area. There were two of us, but at least we got one seat. The prices for the drinks we ordered were on par with other establishments in Edinburgh. The servers were fantastic, I was served immediately. I went to the bar, and I noticed everyone was getting the same service. There is nothing worse than not getting served and standing there being ignored, so top marks to the bar staff. Great place to have a drink but very busy.
Pretty decent place for dinner and a drink. Wasn’t pricey at all for the food, and the portion is enough for regular women.
Had the steak, fish and chips, and two drinks. Beer was really fresh, and the interior was really fancy (if only look at the interior would thought it’s an expensive bar but no!). Staff was also very nice!
Nice interior with high ceiling, a central bar and a few outside tables. Wines and snacks were average but the atmosphere was pleasing.

Good food, great drinks and excellent service! Cheers 🍻
Very stylish 'high ceiling ' pub. 18 - 20 beers on tap including some exotics like Ocean Mist Hazy IPA from the Orkneys.
Quality food and fresh. I had the soup of the day and chicken burger, both were enjoyable. Staff was friendly. Overall, it’s a pub and a bit on the expensive side for grabbing a quick bite to eat.
We were seated quickly, Even though the restaurant was busy. Our waitress was polite, attentive and took our order as soon as we were ready.
We had three different dishes and all three of us thoroughly enjoyed our dinner.
We felt very lucky to land here without any previous research. We were tired and cold from walking around Edinburgh all day and Tiles was just what we needed... Highly recommended.
