Amazing restaurant! We had a lovely lunch here today.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful but the best part was the food! Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection! The menu is very diverse and also suitable for vegetarians. By far the best meal I had in Scotland so far.

Leave some room for dessert as they are heavenly as well.

All in all we had an amazing time and couldn’t recommend it enough.

The Edinburgh Restaurant Festival ran from 6th to 16th October, offering set menus and discounts at a variety of the city’s restaurants and cafes. I decided to use this opportunity to try out Badger & Co who were offering a two-course lunch for £10.
The new Edinburgh bar and eatery is located in the old home of Wind in the Willows author Kenneth Grahame, and this is paid tribute to in it’s name and artwork. Badger & Co serves up bistro style British food in a cool setting.

With the choice of two courses I ditched the starters in favour of dessert, not that the starters didn’t sound tempting but I just can’t say no to pudding! Both myself and my friend ordered the same meal, escaping the start of autumn’s chilly weather we were in need of comfort food and so burger and chips it was.
The ‘Chargrilled Borders beef burger’ was very tasty, I ordered mine with cheese and it came with all the trimmings. The freshly cooked chips were Chunky and crispy and the dipping sauce that came with it was nice too.

Dessert was ‘Chocolate and Orange Torte’ and was delicious! A sponge cake with lashings of rich chocolate and orange compote sat on a trail of crushed biscuits, the flavours were very similar to a Jaffa cake, but a lot more indulgent.

We enjoyed our lunch at badger and co, and got a good deal with the Edinburgh Festival, the burger is usually £10.50 so we basically got dessert for free. The usual prices are reasonable enough though so no need to wait until next October to visit!

A BREAKFAST REVIEW was a first for me and I had heard positive things about Badger & Co. prior to this morning’s visit.  The Signature Pub Group spent a cool £1.35m to give this former office block on Castle Street a swank makeover, and first impressions suggested this was money well spent – but will the food live up to the smart interior design job?

The place is decorated beautifully and has a lovely atmosphere. The food is fresh and delicious but there were a few items not available on that day. The price is very expensive for the portion of food that you get. The lamb was beautifully cooked but could have been seasoned better. This lamb was £29 so quite expensive for the portion size. Would revisit for special occasions.

We picked this restaurant at random. Excellent, friendly and prompt service. The food was so outstanding we went back 2 hours later for dessert. Our meals were plated very attractively. The author of The Wind and the Willows was born in an upstairs flat, which inspired the restaurant theme

As an American visiting Edinburgh, it's worth a second, third or fourth trip back to Badger & co. The atmosphere: the place is fantastic and a little whimsical. The seating is classy, yet comfortable and matches the decor of the restaurant. The entrance really transports you into the world of Badger & co. It's an experience on its own. The food: We went for a late lunch/early dinner. So the place wasn't packed but not empty either. I had the chicken and mushroom pie with the hickory mash. A meal I don't regret and won't easily forget. The pie crust was flaky, buttery and what you would hope for in pie. The chicken and mushroom was fresh and delicious. Then, add the potatoes and you are in heaven. My husband even took several bites, after his burger. We even found a reason to go back - the Sunday roast is our next visit. The service: we had a newer waitress but she was still knowledgeable about the meals, what she didn't know she quickly got an answer to. She was so polite, so helpful and not overbearing. What I presume was the manager also came over to talk to us and he was friendly and talked to us about the ins and outs of Edinburgh in general. He gave us great recommendations! The bar: The bar is first thing you see when entering, and when I say it's fully stocked, I mean it is fully stocked! I wish we had more to say but didn't partake in the bar/drinks. We just didn't have time and energy after a long morning/day. Overall, yes. Take the short walk up the path to this restaurant 10/10

One of the best dog friendly restaurants I’ve ever been to - great food (we ordered fish & chips and chicken mushroom pie), very friendly staff, excellent service and beautiful decor. The waiter even laid a blanket for my dog to lie down on! I strongly recommend this restaurant

Best pie in Edinburgh! Came here with no expectations as restaurants in town were all fully booked on a Friday night when we arrived. But the food and drinks we ordered here didn’t disappoint us at all! Highly recommend their chicken pie and they are heavenly good! Services and vibes in this restaurant are great too!

I have visited this place twice now and only have good things to say. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed with staff very friendly and helpful. The food is a little expensive but it does taste delicious. Alcohol I would say is average price for the area and not too overpriced. Would highly recommend the lamb dish and the buffalo chicken starter.
