@ James Davies, as the patron who was sitting at the bar and overheard your conversation with the bar staff, I would like to point out that your attitude and general conduct are not welcome in public establishments where Adults are in the majority. Watching a grown man speak to a lady the way you did is nothing short of abhorrent. Your review, I feel, is more about social impotence on your part rather than bad service... Our golf group stopped in for munch and 30 or so holes of golf across the street on a recent trip to The Open Championship. The meal was WONDERFUL, the beer was ide cold and nobody complained about the Whiskey or the Gin so that speaks volumes. The golf across the street was entertaining and definitely added to it being a memorable stop for all. Well worth the effort to get there- ENJOY!
Spent a lovely few hours here in this relaxed atmospheric pub. Really friendly staff, willing to help and converse. Nice range of interesting beers and some seriously delicious cocktails!
Food was really excellent, limited menu meant good quality, freshly cooked variations of modern pub grub. Can't recommend enough!

This place has a nice open space. Bit of an odd vibe - also the standard “630pm turn the music up” happens which is quite frustrating if you want to have conversations.
The toilets are downstairs and a bit of a hike - they’re the old style Edinburgh underground bathrooms but we’re kept very clean - tap water for washing hands was freezing.
Not really clear on how the food ordering worked but the menu was compact and varied. The double cheese burger was yum and the truffle fries were great - bit of a wait for food but staff very nice and friendly.
amazing staff - unfortunately i don’t know any names but the manager on shift on thursday night (29/06) was amazing. we had some confusion with our booking and she sorted it out with the best attitude! no stress at all! the younger blonde girl at the bar was also brilliant and very friendly! great staff, atmosphere, and student discounts❤️
A few late night drinks here after dinner nearby. The bar staff unfortunately were unable to provide our first pick of cocktails due to not having the appropriate ingredients. Live music was pleasant and added to the atmosphere.
Loved getting to go to this pub... One of the oldest located on one of the oldest golf courses in the world! Great drinks, great music, fun people.

We had booked the upstairs of the Golf Tavern for our wedding 'breakfast' (post ceremony meal) in June 2019. We had the best experience from initially organising to the party on the day. The staff were attentive, jolly and very understanding. The process of planning and organising was so easy. Manager was always in touch and very keen to get things perfect for us. We were able to go in on an afternoon and layout the tables in the way we preferred. Staff constantly came up with ideas and were actively interested in participating in making our big day perfect. On the day the room looked even more beautiful than we planned. The bar upstairs was stocked with our favourite drinks and staff were joyous, fun and had great banter. They trouble-shot any issues incredibly quickly and made everything very smooth throughout the day. I honestly could not praise the staff more - they are amazing. The meal itself was so delicious and not one of my wedding party had a single complaint. Food options were carefully thought out with huge portions and amazing presentation. We were well fed, well looked after and had a lot of banter.
Would HIGHLY recommend the Golf Tavern for functions and even everyday meals. We knew to pick this as a venue because we enjoy the atmosphere, the food and the staff's attitude on previous occasions. The Tavern is a gem in the middle of Edinburgh which is underrated and it consistently provides high quality food and service. Thank you to them for creating the most perfect wedding meal and atmosphere on our big day!
Tallulah gave us a delightful experience at this authentic Scottish tavern. The cocktails were outstanding and the music is always super fun. I love the Golf Tavern.
We went through for the Doodle a Dog event and my son and our 2 dogs had a great time. The staff were so friendly, warm and helpful and so friendly towards all the dogs that came in and that created such a fun and welcoming atmosphere. The food for us humans was great and the samples for the dogs were devoured quickly! Our border collie loved the doggie beer 😃 the caricatures done on the day were fabulous and ours will soon take pride of place in our living room!
We will be back on our next trip through to Edinburgh and I can thourghly recommend this place to all.

The Golf Tavern is an excellent way to spend your afternoon, golf club hire, tasty scran , but the thing that makes my visits stand out is the staff, charming yet funny, with some who's chat goes above and beyond, and the management will happily do all they can for you to make your day/evening or event/function one that is memorable and entertaining, as one of the oldest in town I hope Mason......I mean the bar stays lodged in Edinburgh's pub world for years to come, golf n pints n food is sometimes all ya need, but with staff like this you can't go wrong
Played 9 holes on a Sunday early afternoon. Imogen is a splendid bartender. Welcomed us warmly and set us up perfectly. Brought pints out on the course and had a delicious lunch after our round. Thanks to our wonderful host at this historic club for a tasty and fun experience.
Place was really busy because of the football but service was still great. Got served and food brought out really quick.
Attractive bar in a beautiful old building opposite the famous short hole golf course. Pub was busy when I visited and it had quite a lively but not unwelcoming atmosphere, and the service was efficient and the seats were comfortable. I didn’t have food but it looks good and might eat here in the future.
Plenty of televisions for watching sport if that’s your thing.
