Bella Italia thank you for given us somewhat of a momentary lull in the flavour free food that Scotland offers. This is a chain and there are 90 of them or so across the UK. It may be one of the few restaurant you’ll find in the UK who actually know what salt is! It’s not a wood fired margherita that my discriminatory palette is accustomed to so I’d recommend the pasta over the pizza options
Due to the location I went the first time and had great, quick service. The pizza was great and the beer was cold. I liked it so much I came back a couple days later. Skip the Dough Swirls though...not bad but not really worth the cost.
Good Italian restaurant, located in Old Town, Edinburgh. The place is nice & simple.
The waiters are good as well. Tasty food, fair portions, and great ambiance. The service was fast. I
really recommend it!
Bella italia serves authentic italian cusine. Ordered for pasta and garlic bread along with drinks. Pasta was made freshly in their restaurant and was different but nice. Garlic bread was outstanding! A must try!!
Great place for Italian food in Edinburgh. Fantastic Pizza, and Pasta. Service was very good and friendly.
The dessert we ordered was chocolate mousse was really top of the line .
The good thing about the place is they serve food till late hours compared to other restaurants on the street.
Authentic Italian food served with love.
Amazed to read there pasta history which comes from around 1924.
Good ambience though little space to take kids in.
mum isiginda keyifli yemek yiyebilirsiniz.
First time eating at the Bella Italia franchise and found it pretty good. If there was a rating for service they would get a 10/10 the overall experience was great and food well it's Italian food in Edinburgh so it's great for what it is.
We stepped into this place when I finally decided to have Italian for my dinner. They have wide variety of both food and drinks, very flexible for vegetarian eaters. Usually the vegetarian food is denoted by "V" sign however if you want the non veg dish to be converted into veg, I am pretty sure they can easily customise that for you!
The pizza is cooked so perfectly that you might want to come again. Their crust is just perfectly crisp and the pizza sauce is topped with mouth watering toppings.
So next time if you want to eat some Italian you can go and check out this place!!
Preços amigos a carteira.
Well you can never go wrong with an italian food joint. The prophecy still holds good - touch wood !
Every town i visited,i was greeted with all glass facade cozy little joint, once you enter the eatery you'll come to know it aint that small.I visited the same in Edinburgh, midst a busy street
We ordered Arancini Funghi to start with, it was ok nothing great, should have ordered Funghi Arrosto which I happened to glance on the adjoining table and it looked ridiculously delicious ( Yes i dont have table etiquette and i keep spamming :p)
We went for create your pizza and settled for Garlic mushrooms and olives, totally worth it
Then we experimented with pasta, we went for the out of menu option and ask them to prepare penne with plain cheese sauce,it was dry and totally disappointing
But the hero for this meal was Lasagne, hands down, one of the best i had, SUPERB
Thank you guys for not adding Aubergine in the recipe or i had to miss this amazing dish
Service could have been definitely better, that was a let down for sure !
Ever since my first day in Edinburgh, I was looking for this place situated on north bridge at the corner of the road occupied with people all d time. Today after a long hectic day, I went with my friend for dinner. To start with we ordered fungi arrosto which is basically baked mushrooms along with jack Daniels and Taigliatele pomordo pasta. The mushrooms and cheese combination tasted delicious. Pasta was good too. Next we ordered cream sauce pasta along with Bailey's Irish Coffe and rose wine. Cream sauce pasta was d best out of all d options we had. Glad that day ended with good food..:)
Finally reviewing Bella Italia😃
I went with my mum few weeks ago for a quick lunch grub. Bella Italia was mums idea as she liked the way it looked from the outside! We were taken in by a friendly waiter who took up upstairs and handed us menus. We opted for a veggie pizza between the 2 of us, a bowl of salad and 2 glasses of orange juice. The food was soo delicious! My mum prefers indian food but even she was impressed😊 Our food came under half an hour and as we were arrived before it got too busy we had fast service. The atmosphere of Bella Italia is chilled and a great place to dine out. The place is quite big with a bar as well! Overall a great restaurant😊
The restaurant surely spoils you for choices...The food is good, staff friendly and not too heavy on the pockets !
However, the place is always jam packed ..so ensure you get seats booked in advance unless you are ready to wait for half an hour like us !
The food was good as was the service, also a £5 discount voucher was available at local hotels which made the meal sweeter
Lovely Italian with a good selection of breakfast, lunch and dinner foods on offer. The staff are very chatty and helpful and the whole place has a laid back sort of approach.Great place if you're just stepping off the street and looking for somewhere to eat.
I came to Bella Italia for the first time with a friend after some Christmas shopping, after her gushing about it constantly I had high expectations and they were exceeded highly!
The staff were lovely and friendly, the resteraunt had a stunning, italian atmosphere and for such a great price, their food (in particular spaghetti bologneise) tasted absolutely beautifully.
I thoroughly recommend eating out here, for any type of occasion and I will definitely be making more of a regular appearance atBella Italia!
Nice italian place serving decent coffee. I went there with my friend a few weeks ago when I was visiting Edingburgh. Stepped in for a coffe to warm up as was quite cold outside. My phone battery was running low and when I asked someone from the service if there was any chance to charge my phone I was told that there was no problem and they charged it. The coffe was delicious, luckily I charged my phone and I could still take pictures that day. The customer service was really helpful and the atmosphere inside was nice. One of my favourite places in Edinburgh.
We had a lovely meal here during the fringe . The pizzas were delicious and the lasagna was perfect not too heavy . The service was quick and our waiter was very kind , helpful and very welcoming . We will definitely be back
We had a perfect dinner after a long day out in the Scottish Highlands.
Amazing service, magnificent ambience, professional staff and not to forget the delicious food.
We had the Gnocchi Bites for starts followed by Pollo Milanese, Pesto Geovese, Gamberoni for Mains and Chocolate Brownie for Desserts.
Each and every bite of food was outstanding and flavour bombs bursting in your mouth.
Centrally located and a must visit.
Great service and good food. We ordered the Chicken Pesto Genovese and a chicken Caeser Salad. The portions were big and had great flavor. My daughter ordered a No-Jito that also was very good and refreshing. The server was very nice he kept checking on us to ensure we had everything we needed and his recommendation on food was helpful.
We had explored Edinburgh's High Street/ Royal Mile for much of the morning when we decided to stop by Bella Italia to warm up and have a bite to eat. The food and hot drinks were good, yet a little pricey (I guess you pay for the location and view :)) As the staff also wasn't very attentive, we will probably not return.
This is proper Italian restaurant on the Royal mile. The food is authentic and tastes good. Service could be faster but then again we visited at a busy hour. The place is popular and gets crowded on weekend evenings.
Cute little place right by one of the busiest streets. The pizza was delish and service was impeccable. Pasta was so so, but we were so hungry, that we didn’t care.
Hold your temper guys it's a different culture and amazing! I read some of the reviews down below, professional reviews are looking different and more professional in choosing words, as well like in all other situations, speak up, all can be solved and I bet, the reviews will go through the roof.
Let's START 💪🏽
Hard to say, but it is a lovely confusing mix between - British - Scottish - Italian ambience!
I definitely recommend it to go inside.
- ARRIVING -
Asap you enter you are pleased to wait and get seated, at the counter you will already get asked if you have allergies.
Seated at the table, (I got the nice small one at the window and could see everything, cooks, service, food which went out for serving, see the staff talking to each other, talking with the costumers and giving all informations etc, as well saw the entire restaurant at the nice window spot with sun and light) and enough time to check the menu.
The nice local employee (black dress blond hair) had always a lookout for me and others which just arrived to get the timing right for the right question: did you decide what you're wishing for?
Nice!
Pizza Vegetarian and just a water.
1 min Water
7 min Pizza (gosh fast) (personal opinion, I like it between 15-20 min to settle myself down and enjoy the atmosphere first- but my personal)
Pizza has been nothing special, typically Italy but the coffee aftwrds where nice, and so far the best I can tell in the area 💪🏽
Let's dive in, I like it here:
1 bad - 10 Amazing
SERVICE:
Education: 10 (know hot to serve and prepare as well handling there tables and costumers
Language: 10 proper English loud and clear, I think it was the manager / owner which speaks Spanish too?
Friendliness: 10 - smile and they smile back, talk normal and they are open up and are not shy to chit chat with you.
Helpful: 11, I've got support for all my questions!
AMBIENCE:
Furniture: 8 it's a mix match, between new and old style, could be as well modern actually.
Walls: 7 green tiles at the wall makes me confusing, it's not Italian style, reminds me that I should drink a Glenfiddich
Flooring: 10 I like the tiles art around the bar, makes it complete!
Cleanliness: 10 top on the spot!
Flowers: 1 nice try, but they are all fake, suggestion: on all tables fresh basilica pots 😄☝🏽like in Italy
Sound: 10 music is background, not to loud or silence, good as it is.
Noises: 8 loud environments when many people inside, but it's more like a culture thing - still it's great and not overloaded.
FOOD:
Ingredients: 10 so far I can tell from my pizza, they are good chosen and good to eat, no bloating aftwrds.
Time: 9 a bit to fast for my taste, under 7 min for my pizza - well done Bro in the kitchen
Coffee: 11 big cup and nice taste! No halitosis after.
Water: 10 nice and soft
Choices: 10! Veggie and Vegan as well Allergen food dishes on an extra menu.
Main menu mixed with nice choices.
Cleanliness: 10 glass and dish plates where spotless!
PRICE:
Normal rang like what you would expect for UK. (Still hope, Scotland will be Scotland alone 🏴✊🏽)
Thank you for serving, if I'll come back to Edinburgh, I'll be happy to get seated again.
Great spot for Italian foods for vegetarians, loved their pasta (presto), and a giant veggie pizza. Great service by Dominica!
Just had our best dinner yet here on our Scotland trip. We were on the mood for Italian and were on the Royal Mile. Plus they had tons and tons of GF options for my son. He ordered a pepperoni pizza and he said it was the best GF pizza he’s ever had. He’s 17 and has had tons and tons in his life. So high praises. We also ordered bruschetta with Mozzarella and spaghetti bolognese. Both also really good. Then desert. Both GF options, cookie dough cookie thing with ice cream and brownie and ice cream. Both so so good. On top of all this, the service by Dennie was top notch. The manager Danny was very attentive and hustling all over as well. We’ll be back!!!
After a flight to Edinburgh we were after some decent food. Came by Bella Italia and decided to take our chance to get something to eat at this time of evening, where other restaurants were closing up. Enjoyed the lasagna and carbonara.
Great! The staff were so very friendly and very quick at getting us seated and fed. We asked for starters with food and they brought them out just as we asked the good needed a little more garlic, and the lasagna noodles were overcooked, but the bread was superb!!
Very delicious pasta and lagsane. The pizza-liked Garlic bread has strong scent of olive oil and really crispy. Yummy! And Bartek (the Waiter) really made our day because of his Great & Smiley service 😄
Comfortable seating, the wait staff was friendly and very helpful. The food was good. The only thing was it said the service charge was optional but apparently it wasn't.
Bella Italia is an Italian restaurant located in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town, along the Royal Mile. The restaurant's decor is modern and sophisticated, with dim lighting that creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff is attentive and friendly, providing an excellent service that adds to the overall dining experience.
The menu at Bella Rossa is full of options, ranging from pizza and pasta to meat and fish dishes. I tried to eat through several meals but the portions are generous, so I didn't get to try that much! The pizza was made well and tasted proper, with crispy crusts and delicious toppings. The pasta dishes are also excellent, with a variety of sauces to choose from, and the seafood dishes are particularly noteworthy.
One of their most popular and standout dish that I highly recommend is the carbonara, which is made with homemade pasta and a rich, creamy sauce that's perfectly balanced with the salty pancetta. There's also a wide variety of drinks to choose from. This restaurant is a foodie's treat that I highly recommend.
I wouldn’t have thought I would have eaten the best pizza of my life in Edinburgh. Definetely get formaggio and their sweetest rosè 🤤 Vibes are 15/10.
Nice a cozy place. The food quality is good, the whole point of going there was because it is open till a little late as compared to other places. The recommendations are good and not disappointing at all.
Such a good place! Our waiter Jamie was very funny, the food was amazing. The table service was like i've never seen. They personally grate the cheese at your table, together with the biggest pepper mill ive ever seen haha. Lovely place. You get your money's worth.
Decent Italian restaurant inheart of Edinburg which is mostly full reserved.
Their menu has a range of Italian dishes and service is very prompt. I would definitely recommend
