Best food we had in Edinburgh
We loved this quirky little place. When we arrived there was a drag artist lip-sync show going on in the bar area which really added to the atmosphere. They were extremely funny and quite irreverent. We found it hard to choose from the menu because it all sounded so good. This is not "health food" by the way. We settled on the haloumi fries with dips, salted chips, and the mac and cheese. It was all amazing. Loved the cashew dip. Servers were very friendly. It has a very casual and easy-going atmosphere. Decor is loud and proud. Gender neutral toilets. Would highly recommend for a fun evening with great food.
Paradise Palms rocks an awesome vibe with comfy seating and plenty of ethical menu options. They also had a great cocktail selection and the food tasted pretty decent. Good place to come with a few mates for a relaxed drink or two alongside dinner.
I loooove this place! I'm vegetarian and usually it's difficult to find decent vegetarian/vegan pub food. I've already tried the Lucky Nachos, Meatball Po'boy and the Lucky Dawg and they are ALL great options. I would recommend the Jackfruit Nachos if you are looking for something different. It's a bit expensive but in the end it's worth the money you are paying.
Pretty fun place to eat. All vegan food and was pleasantly surprised by it all. Tasted amazing. Really want to try their Sunday roast ☺️ can't wait to come back.
Headed to Paradise Palms craving nachos yesterday after being seriously let down by the afternoon tea at 56th North (a tale of oversized dry scones and hideous sandwiches) The nachos cone with bean chilli. Not any guacamole and not enough cheese, but still pretty good and very reasonable. The service was good, as it has always been in the past when I have gone. Good cocktail list too.
I had read about the Ninja Buns served here a few times, and I have been meaning to try it for a while. We attempted to grab dinner here the first weekend of the Festival but it was full. We were pleasantly surprised when we managed to get a table last Sunday for the final night of the Festival.
Sam ordered a beer and I ordered a Tommy's Margarita, which was yummy. They put a slight twist on the classic margarita, which made it unique and it worked really well.
Food wise, Sam chose the Beef Bun and fries and I opted for the Ninja Rice Bowl. The bun itself is quite small but it was very tasty; the steamed bun is nice and light. My rice bowl was delicious. It came with pork, coconut rice, Siracha hot sauce and peanuts. It had a great flavour and was the perfect size for me. Sam also shared some of mine.
Ninja Buns is a great place to go for lunch or a not too heavy dinner. I really enjoyed my cocktail and would come back to Paradise Palms just for drinks.
Situated in the heart of studentsville and the Fringe, Paradise Palms’ quirky nature helps it fit right into the area. Decorated with an eclectic mix of what can probably only be described as bric-a-brac, this place is not full of airs and graces and wants you to have a good time. I was a bit disappointed not to see the frozen margarita which was on the online version of the menu. I actually struggled to find a cocktail I wanted to try as most were either bitter or had some sort of wine in (which I am allergic to).
Cocktails – Paradise Palms
Ninja Buns is a street food business which also has a base in Paradise Palms. The menu is relatively short, as you would expect with street food, but everything on the list sounded tasty. They offered some meal deals, combining a bun with chips and a slaw, so I went for that. I selected pork as my meat of choice.
We didn’t have to wait too long for food, and they were all brought out in black bowls and baskets of plastic. I was a bit worried about chip loss through the basket sides but it was all ok. The buns were soft and tasty. The pork wasn’t too dry and there was plenty of filling, including veg. I did find the ginger a little over floral but I think that’s just my personal preference. The chips were nice and plentiful. Two of us had gone for the straight forward salted chips but one went for the seasoned version, which I sampled. These certainly had a kick but were quite tasty. The slaw that came with the buns was probably the best bit. It had plenty of crunch and was slathered in peanut-y goodness. I could have eaten just a massive bowl of that. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food, although there was a difference of opinion on the popcorn chicken. I have to say that whilst the food was ok, it probably works better as a lunch than a dinner, as a few hours later I was a bit hungry again. Maybe a second bun would have helped.
All in all, this is a fun little place and would be worth trying for a bite to eat.
Looking for a quick bite alone one Saturday I found myself at Paradise Palms. The interior has it all dark cubby corners seats and bright tables by the window.
Food is by Ninja Buns a successful food stall that is now doing a residency at Paradise Palms.
The menu is quite short and simple but it all looks good. It really did take some effort to not ordered a mass of food.
I restrained myself and went simply for the Rice bowl with Pork.
Jasmine rice topped with pulled pork, fresh coriander, lime infused spring onions, crushed peanuts, fresh chilies and Siracha hot sauce.
The food was spicy, very spicy for me. I'm not an experienced spicy eater so my mouth was on fire by the end, but I loved it.
The rice was beautifully creamy! The pork portion was generous and flavorsome.
The toppings a fresh addition. I loved the fresh coriander. I used to be a hater coriander but have become a lover in the last year.
The abundance of crushed nuts made me very happy.
The dish was really great and I cant wait to get back for some more of the menu.
I started going to Paradise Palms for after work cocktails with my colleagues and thought at the time it was a really good place for that. Quirky decor that mixes Hawaii with cabaret, the place has certainly something going on for it... apart from their lovely cocktails!
As for the food, although months ago I was not a bit fan they seem to have changed the menu for the better. Their ninja buns are lovely and very filling, and so are the absolutely fantastic fries.
One tip: If you plan on getting food, make sure you seat at the front as it's lighter and you will have more room.
Paradise Palms has decor that makes me feel a bit like I'm at a circus when inside. It is a good new addition to the area and serves the normal beers but also has a wide range of cocktails, starting at £3.50 and they're pretty good especially considering the prices.
I've been in twice with colleagues and it's been a good place to accommodate a group of about ten of us. The first time we were seated in the back, though, and they were a bit odd and said we could only be served food if we say in the front although there were no seats left up there. They have a full kitchen and now serve Ninja Buns which I've previously tried at markets and are great. I'll have to come back for food sometime, but be careful that I'm sitting in the right area I guess!
Another valiant attempt to make something happen on that cursed stretch of Lothian Street, but this one's a bit different.
Rather than blindly trying to capitalise on a current trend or target any particular demographic, this venture is firmly showing its eggs among many baskets. It's a cocktail bar, it's a venue for live music and cabaret, it's a family friendly eaterie... and rather than doing all these things by half it seems to be working it. The range of clientele is remarkable - as are the selections of gins, rums, tequilas etc - and the cocktails and food are interestingly varied and not overpriced.
Lovely place with many vegan / vegetarian options - great atmosphere! A little crowded at times, leading to longer waiting times at the bar. Highly recommend the fried pickles!
Very nice vegetarian pub. Good choice, we especially liked the BBQ corn ribs. A nice selection of mocktails was available. The staff was friendly and we loved the cosy atmosphere and the original decoration.
Loved the decor inside. The specials were delicious. Great bbq sauce. All of their seasonings were delish. The mushroom burger was great! Very filling! Was able to order anything vegan on the menu.
the interior design is absolutely stunning and gives off such a cool vibe. Service was amazing and the food came really fast, even though it was really busy.
We ordered the fried cauliflower and the loaded bbq fries (all vegetarian). It was incredibly delicious, the meat substitute (seitan) really tasted like meat.
Also you can order everything fully vegan, in case you don’t want non vegan cheese.
Absolutely great venue. Quirky decor and tunes. Lovely delicious food (burgers, fries, etc). Vegan and vegetarian orientated but enjoyable by all tastes. LGBTIQ+ friendly. Decent prices. Thoroughly recommend.
Great customer service and excellent recommendations from Malcolm, drinks were varied and spot on, will definitely be returning 😀
Great atmosphere, location and choice of cocktails. Excellent place for fun and tasty food that is also gluten-free soy-free and, if needed, also dairy-free. But do not worry your friends can also enjoy the dairy option! We had the “chicken” (seitan) burger, chipotle Mac-and-Cheese and Drunken beans fries while sitting outside and watching people in Bristo square. Only four stars because my £10.50 “Cobra fang’s” cocktail was pretty (see photo) but had no “fangs” at all….
This place was seriously a blessing in disguise. Its hard to find vegetarian and fully vegan restaurants there. But we found this place and I am so glad we did. The food was extremely delicious. The portions sizes were big and Definitely value for money. If you are looking for vegan and vegetarian options this is the place to be. The mocktails were a delight too. Virgin Pina Colada is worth a try here.
It's a cool vegetarian restaurant. Gets really crowded. The atmosphere is friendly, lively, and inviting. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The portions are on the generous side. I really enjoyed my hamburger and chips meal. It tasted a bit like meat. I think I prefer ordinary veggie burgers. Will definitely revisit.
such a good experience, staff were so friendly and lovely, music was brilliant, atmosphere was amazing. food was gorgeous !!
