Top notch! Food jewel in Edinburgh

I can't describe how much we loved this place. Food quality is a blast, prices are down to earth, service is fast and friendly and atmosphere was amazing. Would like to have something like this back at home. A+

Our first visit to a restaurant in Edinburgh and the experience was great. Friendly staff and good ambience
The cowboy burger was humongous and deliciously prepared! We will be back next time to try the famous shakes 👍🏼

I came here with a few friends a few months ago and from the moment we arrived we loved it. It's a very quirky restaurant and the cocktails were to die for, they came in little cans which were soo cute & a fab idea! The food was delicious as well and I liked the fact they encourage you to eat with your hands as after all it is burgers! I would definitely return to the Boozy cow!

Visited here for lunch after a long walk around the city as it was recommended by an instagrammer. The food was absolutely delicious - the chilli dog was one of the best I ever had. Their beef chilli is so lovely and authentic and I think they should serve it seperately as a dish with corn bread (yummy!). Lovely atmosphere and service - highly recommend it

Well....if you love cheese...you will love the many offerings at the boozy cow. It's one of those places that u are stuck making a decision as everything sounds good. I eventually decided to go into full on FAT mode and have a mac and cheese waffle and cheesy skinny (how fitting) fries. The mac and cheese waffle is essentially a mac and cheese bite, the size of a piece of toast, that is swimming in a wonderful pool of creamy cheese sauce...covered in MORE cheese and onions. Every Sunday should start with this genius and calorific glory. The fries were also lovingly wrapped in melted cheese and mustard. It was one big epic feast. My friend had the gingerbread milkshake which is here for the festive period-absolutely have this! If it wasn't for my grand cheese feast I'd have finished with one of those too. Service is okay-the place does get pretty jam packed though and difficult to manoeuvre.

The Boozy Cow, Edinburgh’s newest burger bar, is located on Frederick street, in place of what was Amicus Apple. It lures you in with a cool, trendy vibe which can be felt before you even get inside. Once inside, I loved the cool decor and dim lighting, giving it a very different feel from other burger places. The walls are covered in graffiti art, and the door to the kitchen covered in ‘blood’, definitely not ideal for faint-hearted, animal loving vegetarian types!

The Boozy Cow is one of Edinburghs little gems where all the cool kids go. And no wonder. With delicious food and cocktails you can't go wrong.
I went with some friends and sat through the back at a cosy little table. I took advantage of the £15 of prosecco - a nod back to the Amicus Apple days - and sat quite contentedly with my coupe glass.
I hadn't planned on eating, but when they told me about the macaroni cheese waffle - I couldn't resist. It was delicious along with the sweet potato fries.
The staff are lovely (and usually beautiful to look at) so whilst it might not be the perfect first date venue, for a night out with pals, it is perfect!

Oh Boozy Cow... How I have found myself ever so slightly in love with you.
I first visited not long after they opened and really enjoyed the atmosphere and the general look and feel of the place. It has some amazing artwork across the walls. From a little bit of goth glamour (skeletons, blood) to bright pop art. It had me straight away.

I've had food twice there and loved it both times. The first was the maple cured bacon hot dog which is incredibly messy but also incredibly wonderful. The second time I had the chicken chipotle burger, which was also really tasty. A little spicer than I am personally used to but I did expect it to be. Some people might not enjoy the fact that you don't get plates or cutlery with your meal but personally I love the relaxed vibe of it all. It's maybe not the best place for a meal if you are on a first day, as it will get a little messy!

My favourite thing about boozy cow is well.. the booze! The cocktails are really up my street. Anything that comes with a lolly pop and sherbet flying saucer will always make me happy.

The last time I was there, it was busy Friday night during the fringe but the staff made sure we got a table and the service was really quick.

Overall, my favourite place, so far, in Edinburgh to grab a burger!

We ended up here around 9:30pm on Friday last week. Even though it was a Friday night at the Fringe we managed to get a table without a problem. I loved the atmosphere and the quirky graffiti on the walls. It's definitely a place to go with friends for food and drinks. I ordered waffles with chilli, onions and cheese. It was very tasty but it wasn't as weird as I thought it would be. It actually tasted like nachos which is not a bad thing ;) I tried the hot dog and a burger from my friends and it was all lovely so I'll be definitely going back to have the maple bacon hot dog! The service was good and knowledgeable. They also made a white russian for my friend which wasn't even on the drinks menu. So overall, a great place for a fun night out!

The food was great as it had alot of flavour. There was a variety to pick from especially the sides of wings and sweet potato fries. I have to say you must try their milk shakes as they have a great texture and not thick. Definitely worth a visit as their layout is funky and fun.

Went in with my husband on a Friday night, both of us loved it. The decor of the was so cool and different from other restaurants/bars in the area with a industrial feel to it. The menu was mainly burgers and everything was served on a single tray to encourage sharing and getting messy. We ordered a couple of burgers, chili fries and sweet potato fries. Everything was so good, I especially enjoyed the chili fries. There was a good choice of drinks and cocktails. Really enjoyed my meal at the Boozy Cow and will definitely be back.

While I went in feeling a little sad about losing one of my favourite places, Amicus Apple, safe to say I am really impressed with the Boozy Cow. With their fantastic burgers and imaginative milkshakes, I will definitely be back whenever I am craving a carnivorous feast!

The boozy cow is a great bar with staff and food to match! The unique, rustic interior gives it an indie edge while you sip on the most tastiest cocktails. I had the pink angel. So sweet and the presentation is so cool. The food is full of flavour and beats the chain food places, I think. Defo coming again!

The Boozy Cow May 2015

This is not a gourmet burger. But it is a good burger.
People will always love a good burger, and we all delight in sharing our favourite spots and debating the best burger in town.
The Boozy Cow does not do the best burger in town. At a modest 7oz patty, I’m concerned when the waitress informs us it is prepared medium well, but can be cooked further at your request. Can I possibly have mine rarer? With the flavour left in?

The Boozy Cow is trying something a little different to that of the trends found in and around the George Street area- a dining and drinking scene which hasn’t really attempted nor embraced change in the past decade or so.

This new branch is coming as a larger and boozier extension to the Speratus Group’s maiden Boozy Cow up in Aberdeen and, despite an intense and, in some parts, garish interior design, the Edinburgh division is by all means a more ambitious attempt to transpose the old Amicus Apple into an affordable, trendy alternative to Frederick Street’s drinkeries.

Their choice to remove taps and bottles is also a bit of a brave one, focussing on rarer craft canned ales and lagers poured into frosted glasses. This is logistically easier for storage and stays cooler for longer. A no brainer for some, but perhaps harder for some stubborn drinkers to fathom and less value for money for beer swiggers. Former Amicus Apple regulars may also be glad to know that a strong cocktail list is still an important element within these four walls – options include the Boozy Bru made from reduced Irn Bru, a full on head busting Zombie served in a true Tikki ceramic fashion and the Million Dollar Milkshake with powdered nutella and Kahlua in a custom built school cafeteria milk carton and straw. A childish delight, not suitable for children!

The burgers and sides are candidates to match even the Cambridge Bar – though, sadly you’ll have to order your fries separately (which has annoyingly become the norm for most burger joints in this day and age). However, the healthy sized wagon wheel onion rings, phenomenal deep fried gherkins and spicy fries in mountains of chilli ensure a lot of bang for your buck.

The Holy Cow Burger lived up to its name and was consumed rapidly to boot. Stockpiled with bacon, caramelised onions, a thick slab of cheddar with an added chipotle tang and for a reasonable £7.95, it’s a simple, yet undeniably more-ish combo which is often overdone in many bar eateries.

The Boozy Cow is clearly trying to juggle both a gourmet burger horde as well as an ex-Amicus cocktail clientele, but its strengths lie more so in their food delivery. Don’t get me wrong though, a couple of cocktails go down an absolute treat post grub, and with some honing they could become definite contenders for some of the tastiest gourmet burgers in the city.

Boozy Cow has taken over from where Amicus Apple used to reside on Frederick Street.  With an industrial fee, the walls are creatively decorated with ‘blood’ splatters, skulls and chains. Although there are a few booths, most of the seating is at high tables with stools. I went for a Phili cheesesteak, which I have always wanted to try. My friend went for the red hot chilli burger. We ordered skinny fries and wagon wheel onion rings.

When the food arrived it came on one single tray. This might be a little awkward if you don’t know your dining partner that well, or they have particular eating phobias. The cheesesteak was oozy, messy, delicious fun.  There were lovely pepper and onion chunks mixed in with the mustard and cheese. The steak wasn’t too tough and was cut into pieces that made it easy enough to eat. The sub roll was soft and soaked up the juices. My dining companion’s burger was also good. The bun did look a little dull and maybe toasting or some sesame seeds might perk it up a bit but it didn’t take away from the flavour. The fries were tasty and plentiful. The onion rings were massive, so lived up to their name. They were nice and crispy on the outside, filled with soft onion and full of flavour.

There is a great array of cocktails and even coke floats available.

Boozy Cow is reasonably priced, particularly considering its location.

I went here with my friend from uni, Kate, we have a regular catch up and this time it was my turn to pick where we go so I suggested this place based on what I had heard from friends. It used to be Amicus Apple, which I had been to, but it looks completely different you wouldn't even know they had been the same place. It is very dark inside, but not too dark that you can't see and it has lots of cool graffiti/street art all over the walls. I really liked it inside. The menu isn't huge, it is just burgers mainly (kinda like Just Burgers and Beers, but with a much smaller menu). It does have a great cocktail menu, I had two, a House Martini and and Pink Angel, and Kate was happy as they did Hendrick's Gin so she had a Gin and tonic. In terms of food, as I said the menu wasn't huge so I went for a chipolte chicken burger, which was really good, and Kate went for a cheese burger which she said was yummy We also shared a portion of chilli cheese fries which were amazing! We then shared the only pudding they do which is called a Chocolate Stampede and has loads of yummy stuff in it including ice cream, cookie dough, raspberries and cream, it was really good. I did really enjoy this restaurant but I would have liked more pudding choice, and if I was going to pick a burger restaurant I would always go to Just Burgers & Beers first. However, The boozy Cow was really nice and I did love the cocktails and the atmosphere of the place, so I will go back. I think it would be a great place to get a post shopping drink!

We've just arrived home from a great tea after work. If you're looking from somewhere a bit different from the usual Edinburgh feel then here's your place. Inside the walls are awash with graffiti and quirky murals.

We got ourselves a booth and browsed the menu. The staff quickly pointed out that all burgers come medium to well done and to just let them know if we wanted them cooked a bit more.

The maple bacon burger was delicious. Soft rolls, large burger patties and lots of cheese and bacon make it a winner. The cheese fries and red slaw are equally as good.

The boozy cow has a great selection of beer and they've kept the great cocktail list from its amicus Apple days but added twists to make signature boozy cow cocktails.

Boozy Cow it's an exciting new way to feed yourself. It's very urban and easy. Might a bit too urban for me but that's just me. Whoever turned amicus to a boozy cow is very clever. Very low cost turnover with good style and absolutely amazing food! I had burger and they are HUGE and very, very tasty. You get your food on tray that's all. You can ask cutlery if you need but I really enjoyed just being tucked into my massive burger! They also do awesome milkshakes!

Good tasting good and friendly staff. The dice roll for a random shot was fun and what I got tasted good. I would definitely play that again!. The server was friendly but a little slow. We enjoyed it and though I wasn't really impressed I would eat here again. The big disappointment was that they were out of ingredients for 2 out of the 3 special shakes they have on the menu and which we had wanted.

I have been wanting to try the Boozy Milkshakes and I can say it did not dissappoint. Great milkshakes, great atmosphere, great service. I also had their maple bacon burger which was alright. Not so bad, not so good. Overall good experience. I definitely recommend their fries and milkshakes.

Awesome spot in the heart of Edinburgh. Offers a range of amazing food and unique cocktails that is sure to give you an awesome time. With it being in the center of Edinburgh the place operates on a reservation system where each table can stay for 1 hour 45 mins. Food was great and everything was perfect. The staff are very friendly and can answer any questions that you may have

What a great atmosphere! First time visiting and the lighting was just fitting, decor eye catching and staff all very pleasant. Also, the food was delicious and the choice of drinks very interesting. I have to say, the lady who greeted us at the door and who served us in there on Tuesday 15th August was delightful! She was so genuinely cheerful, helpful and bubbly. I forgot my glasses so she kindly and enthusiastically helped me out with the menu. When I paid I left her a tip and I hope she got it! :)

Fab fab fab day at the first ever drag brunch. Value for money was insane. You had 4 cocktails, and three trays of food over the course of a few hours. Loved the fact it was a ticketed event so wasn’t crowded at all and you had room to breathe. Great music too, all Boozy Cow staff couldn’t do enough for you. Will be keeping an eye out to see if another drag brunch is hosted here as it was so, so good.

Great wee pub to chill out in. It's recently had a makeover inside and is not as dark and grungy as it used to be. The drinks are priced on par with other Edinburgh establishments, the food is really good. It is better to book ahead if you want a meal to guarantee a seat, especially if you are in a large group. The servers were exceptional they were polite, prompt and well presented. Fantastic service from them, well done. There are a few seats outside too. Toilets are downstairs.
