Live music, perfect atmosphere
We had the chicken liver patte, pasta and chips. All were tasting delicious. They had live music going, couple it with wine we had a lovely atmosphere. The staff were courteous and attended to us very well!
Back in the day, Rose Street used to be the great focal point of drinking in the city centre with a legendary pub crawl challenge to sample from its many boozers. George Street, with its flashy style-over-substance places, has since supplanted it in this part of town, with Rose Street now feeling a little down-at-heel. I visited a good example of this in the Auld Hundred.
Very welcoming staff, good food and great price. Something for the vegetarians as well. Will indeed recommend. Suggest that they offer garlic bread as a standard accompaniment to haggis. Will do even better!!
Luckily to find this bar in Edinburgh. Their whisky sauce is amazing, I tried haggis there. And the award wining cold town beer ( local Brewery) and of course the whisky taste plate. Don’t miss it. The live music and their service is impressive. Remember to book a seat. It’s very popular. I visited 2 times during my 4 days trip but definitely will return.
We had our first meal in Edinburgh here after a long trip, and it was the best choice ever! The soup and salmon were good, and we loved the beer too. But the Balmoral chicken was simply the best and it definitely was something we never tried before. Now we are back in Korea and terribly miss the chicken already..🥲 we will definitely come back when we are back in town!
We loved our (veggie & normal) haggis! Live music from 9pm, had to wait for a table for 30 minutes slightly past 7 on Monday. Worth it tho:)
Sounds of live music brought us in.
We heard 2 young men (the greasy whiskers) playing a banjo and a guitar playing various folk songs and they were good, the guys finished up before the rugby came on.
The lower bar area is quite small but they have lots of tables outside if the weather is right, also serve food upstairs on first floor. The bar is quite small but staff coped well given that the place was extremely busy.
All in all we enjoyed the atmosphere and the beer and white wine, prices reasonable too.
What a great place. I had my first Haggis here. Really good!
And the pub is supposed to be the auldest in Rose street.
First time in The Auld Hundred (Sep, 2023). The service we received was amazing! Delicious food and wonderful dessert. Recommend to everyone!
Beautiful space - downstairs for drinks and upstairs for food and drinks. The atmosphere was beautiful, service was great and food was delicious! We would like to especially mention the outstanding service to ensure everyone feels safe. In line with the UK SAYS NO MORE posters in the bathrooms, we would like to shoutout to the wait staff who were over watching us, and continued to check in over the course of time when an unusual male patron sat down with us and was asking strange questions.
Would highly recommend!
Before exploring the city we wanted to eat something anywhere
I’m glad my friends and I ended up there.
Truly great experience. The lady Alex there was a superwoman ✨
How can she be everywhere and doesn’t feel tired
Loved this place more because of her…
Have a look at my Fish and chips and the dessert baileys cheesecake ❤️❤️

I had an awesome night in this pub. The open mic sunday created the awesome opportunity of wide ranged music genres from many artist. It was a very funny evening with all visitors and we sang along a few songs with the entire pub. Staff is very friendly and the selection of drinks is also huge. I can’t say anything about the food because i just went in for the music and some drinks. Definitely no disappointment!
We stopped in here for drinks a few times during out stay in Edinburgh. Nice beer selection and friendly staff. We enjoyed relaxing here after doing a lot of walking around each day.
One evening, we decided to eat here as well so we moved upstairs. We started with a Scotch flight which was interesting and had some a wide range of tastes - loved it. I had fish and chips which was good, although I'd had that several times on our vacation here and in Ireland that I was actually getting a bit tired of it and wished I'd ordered something else. All was good. We liked this place and would definitely visit again if ever back in Edinburgh.
