I always get the pancakes with bacon and maple syrup when I eat here, tastes so good and is a nice big portion! First time I tried them the pancakes were slightly raw still in the middle (they are thick pancakes) however every other time they have been perfect! Great for lunch or breakfast and nice and bright inside
Great tasting food! Portions for the main breakfasts look great. The Belgian waffle breakfast is disappointing in size.
Absolutely delicious! The g.... Absolutely delicious!
The goat cheese and roasted pepper panini with a side of beetroot slaw and mixed greens was so good I wanted to order another straightaway!
Staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed with no hint of anyone rushing.
Can't wait to go back!
A Trip to the Treehouse. This little cafe is bright and breezy with huge windows and high ceilings. It's tastfully decorated inside and is a nice place to be. The menu is heavy on sandwiches and panninis but only one soup when I visited. I had the "New York" triple decker sandwich and a latte. Both were lovely and good value. Despite only 2 staff working and a full house, my order was served up quickly. I would have liked to have seen a bit more interaction with the customers but, overall it was an enjoyable visit.
Excellent quality and good value. The Treehouse in Tollcross is a delightful little cafe that's perfect for breakfast, lunch or a coffee. It's situated in Leven Street with huge amounts of light flowing in through the windows. The decor is mixed, with paintings, shelves with tea pots and live plants dotted around giving it a warm and comfy feel to the place.
I popped in for lunch as many people seem to do and it was packed by the time I left. Their menu choice is varied and prices are cheaper than normal - definitely for the quality dished up.
I had a juice to go along with my brie, bacon and cranberry panini (£3.50 sit in, cheaper to take away) which came with a side of two different salads which made for a refreshing change from crisps.
It was really tasty, not that you can go wrong with a panini, but the salad was a definate bonus for me. I couldn't resist the cakes on display and opted for a banana muffin with a pot of blackberry herbal tea.
The frosting was fantastic as was the rest of the muffin. All of their baked goods looked good enough to dive into, especially the Victoria sponge. The choice varies daily as they are freshly made on the premises.
The tea was delicious and the pot served up 2 1/2 cups of tea which is pretty good for £1.25.
There are complimentary papers in the Treehouse, so it would be easy to spend an afternoon browsing them or the other glossy magazines they have for customers.
On a Sunday afternoon, they have live music which I am eager to experience. The Treehouse also offer student discount of 10% on everything.
Staff are friendly, efficient and food is exactly what you expect it to be. Definitely one of the best places in Tollcross for a quick lunch or leisurely coffee at credit crunch prices.
Excellent pumpkin spice latte, better than Starbucks. You can chose among regular milk, soy or oats (not GF). Three good options if you are looking for gluten-free baked treats, one also vegan (see photos). The GF Belgian chocolate brownie was fresh, moist inside with a crunchy top. Excellent.
What a lovely cafe this is. Very bright. We decided to go here for lunch whilst we were in town and we were so glad we came here. The place was reasonably busy but we managed to get a table ok. Staff were nice. The menu is decent will a good selection of grub. There are your usuals, healthier options and some unique dishes. It looks like they frequently change their specials which I love! This is a sign that they love their job and like being creative. We decided to get a millionaire shortbread milkshake for drinks. This was good. there were bits of shortbread throughout the milkshake so be aware if that’s not a bitty milkshake person. It can be hard to sook it up if there are bits stuck in your straw. it had quite a nice flavour though. Far from the best milkshake I’ve had, mind. For food my wife got a chicken pesto panini with a side of cous cous and salad. The panini was great. She really liked the flavour and the pesto wasn’t too overpowering. The cous cous was a nice addition but sadly the salad didn’t look too appealing as bits of it looked a bit rotten. I got a pancake stack with pulled pork, BBQ sauce & crispy fried onions. Now I usually prefer pancakes with a sweet topping but boy did I enjoy this. The pancakes were thick and bbq pulled pork was sublime. The crispy onions were also an excellent topping. To conclude, we really enjoyed our lunch here. It was affordable (10% NHS worker discount) and tasty.
Great place to have breakfast.
Especially the pancake stack with bacon and maple syrup is great.
It is about a 15 min walk from below Edinburgh Castle in Grassmarket, which is just fine.
Definitely recommend this place over anything close to the historical centre.
The reason being that you pay premium prices for food that is no better than at this place.
THE best pancakes I’ve tried. Simple but so delicious. One month later still thinking about ‘em.🙈😁
Fully enjoyed them on a sunny morning, w/ a nice view towards the park.
Only if there was specialty coffee.🙈
Great neighbourhood cafe with fresh delicious food, great prices, wonderful customer service, and giant windows for natural light and people watching.
A lovely small, cosy cafe with pleasant and friendly staff. It is clean and popular with locals for quick bites and hit drinks to go. The food is very good and there are plenty of options for vegetarians. We had a lovely breakfast and chose pancakes, porridge with blueberries and a vegetarian platter. The coffee was great, the pancakes and sourdough bread were amazing. Very good service with reasonable prices. Would definitely return.
This cafe is exceptional. The food is delicious and the prices are more than reasonable. Additionally, the portion sizes are generous.”
This was a very cool breakfast place. As a tourist I came here for the pancakes. I was very pleased with the portion of my pancakes for the small price I paid.
If you are from the US, you will love their portion size here.
Do not miss the chance to come here for breakfast.
It's a decent place. Food was actually good. Not sure how but we ordered two separate hot chocolate, very clearly with two different milk types, and were somehow brought two tiny expressos? Not sure how but hey it happens, the place is otherwise good.
We had breakfast here. The toasts and croissants were good, not mind blowing bur good nevertheless. But the PANCAKES were DELICIOUS!! Try the pancakes - highly recommended!!
Lovely cafe. We had tasty breakfasts with good quality ingredients, coffee and tea. Nice vibe and customers were a good mix of families, couples and individuals.
Kind service, lovely space and very tasty food. All we ordered was delicious!!!
Absolutely beautiful pancakes 😍😍 I cannot express it enough. The waitress was on fire 🔥🔥🔥 she looked after our table and everyone else. We thought she was the owner the way she was running things but it seems it was just a normal day for her! Big her up Edinburgh. Next time I visit I'll be back!
Really nice little cafe. The food is quite standard but good. The only issue is that they are not using real maple syrup… only flavoured syrup ( but this is clearly mentioned).
Stopped in for a coffee and food, but chef was becoming a dad that day so only cakes were available - totally okay with us and exciting for the chef! Staff are very friendly. Cakes and coffee were delish, and really beautiful.
Popped in for a coffee to waste some time. Nice staff, was quiet. Menu looks great, should have bought the pancakes
Fancied pancakes, this place was one of the nearest so gave it a go. Very generous with toppings, huge topping choice and great wee cafe. Will be back
Great service, got two plates of pancakes which where huge and very filling. Coffee was one of the best I’ve ever had. All round great visit and will be back.
One of our first stops when we came into Edinburgh. Got a coffee. We were served at the door. Did not need to go in. Which was good. The coffee was good and I enjoyed it.
