We stumbled upon Papavero on our last day in Edinburgh and had a lovely, leisurely meal in an intimate environment. My companion thought this was the best meal we had in a week though this has to be qualified by the fact that we were on a group tour and most of our meals were at hotels. The squid ink liquine with sun dried tomatoes was fantastic, the pizza was okay. Great beverage selection, I had two glasses of Falanghina wine and my companion had scotch. Meal was a fantastic value.
Great place, was here for a surprise birthday dinner for one of my friends and the staff were really understanding about our ordering and the delay and stuff like that.
Food was good and the pizzas were especially amazing. The Ragu pizza was to die for.
They even let us cut our own cake at the end of it.
I must admit though, we had a 50% off all the food because of our booking through a specific site. I'm not sure if I would have though the food would have been worth it if it had been full price. At 50% off it was a bargain though!

My boyfriend and I had a lovely evening here. From the calamari for starters to the pizza quatro fromaggi and the spagetti bolognesa, everything was outstanding, and the service was fast.The waiter was the nicest and the restaurant is really charming. Highly recommended for a romantic dinner or any other ocassion.
One of the best restaurants i have been so far. Very friendly staff, amazingly tasty food. Prices are very affordable too. Been there so many times and will keep coming back. Just love this place and their food!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Food was extremely tasty and portions were great with a wide ranging menu. Excellent service and hosts were really friendly. If you're happy to drift a couple of minutes off the main street, you won't be disappointed!
Our waitress was literally the most friendly and best waitress I have ever had, no exaggeration. The food was lovely too and good value. We had to push back our booked time by 1.5 hours on the day but this wasn't a problem at all.
A fabulous meal for the four of us after a day exploring the city.
Our host, the owner was extremely accommodating and looked after us very well.
Our food was 'top drawer' and I would recommend anyone try this lovely little ristorante which is just off the main route.
My friend and I enjoyed a tasty meal on Friday night. Was reassuring to see hygiene procedures in place at the door. And good spacing between other customers. Would've given 5 stars, only it did take quite some time for our food to arrive. Also the wine we would have wanted wasn't avaliable. All in all a good and enjoyable visit. I shall be back!

The menu was very varied, I chose a duck fish, my wife the salmon.
Having read that everything was cooked from fresh here, we made the mistake of ordering one portion of garlic bread to share - it was delicious but more of it than I’d ever had before. Irresistible!
The main courses did take time to arrive, as we’d read it was all cooked to order, nothing was sorting in a fridge ready to microwave ...
We managed to make room for a sweet to share, and as we ate it the chef came out to chat to us.
Overall, an excellent experience and one we’d recommend heartily.
This has to be one of the most underrated restaurants in all of Edinburgh! The food is amazing, well-presented, and affordable, the staff are super friendly and the place itself is lovely and atmospheric. I've tried the seafood spaghetti, calamari and tiramisu, all of which were delicious! It is independently owned, and the owner is very kind and obviously puts a lot of pride and effort into his work.
Also, I disagree with the previous reviewer- I have been several times and I have never known the restrooms to be unclean.
The restaurant was very accommodating for a large group. The menu was extensive and we had no problem adapting some of the dishes to be vegetarian or vegan, and everything was very good. Service was a little slow and they did include the service charge in the bill, which I always consider very cheeky.
Very quiet on a mid September Tuesday night but we really enjoyed the food. Would go back again if in the area. Difficult to measure how things would be on a busy evening as only one person front of house.
Been here twice and thoroughly enjoyed our pizzas. The service was lovely and the man who seemed like the manager was understanding of us booking our groupon voucher accidentally during the fringe and still allowed us to use it. Service was friendly and nice.
Several months ago I went with my friend, who recommended the restaurant, for a meal. I was delighted, pleasure to eat a well cooked and not overly expensive meal. I look forward to the restrictions being lifted and being able to eat once again at your establishment.
Lovely service and food, we turned up early and this was accommodated without fuss, the staff were friendly and helpful at all times. The food was beautiful and authentic, every dish we ordered (4) was perfect. Definitely recommended.
Great location. Wonderful freshly prepared food. So much choice. Lovely attentive staff. Nothing is a bother. Highly recommend. Visited at least 4 times and looking forward to returning.
