Great pub
We were recommended this pub by a waitress in a nearby restaurant and were very pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is great and the staff were really friendly. So good we came back the next day too, just wished we’d booked a table for a roast!!
I HAD OVERLOOKED the fact that my football team, Manchester United, were playing the night I arranged this review and I was further frustrated to find them a goal down at half-time. When we arrived at The Queens Arms, United were now 2-0 down and playing dreadfully. Only some good food could turn my mood around.
Hidden gem for food in the centre of Edinburgh. Great decor and a decent amount of seats, as well as outdoor (for when we get out 1 day of summer per year!) The drinks are pretty reasonable and there's a good selection of beers and wines as well as cocktails. The food menu is great, with the option of smaller or larger plates. We had the him hock croquettes, steak and rocket and prawns. All were great, the steak was served pink. The ham croquettes were the stand out dish. Good place to watch the football results and get away from the madness of the centre of town!
A beautiful pub where you can drink the best aperol sprits of Edinburgh!!! I'm italian and you have to believe me!!! The foos is very good and the staff is always kind. I suggest you to book a table on the weekend because usually is plenty of people.
Usually come here when meeting a friend for drinks. The inside is nice and welcoming, with a good range of beers. Can't comment on the food because I haven't eaten here. There are two big tvs showing sport but the volume isn't usually on and is easily ignored if that's not your thing. Its a great place for a relaxing drink.
After one bottle of white wine, you expect to find a place that'll suit your 'Highness'. So, my friends and I stumbled upon this pub and it turned out to be one of the most memorable and amazing evenings of my trip to Edinburgh. Dimly lit, bookshelves adorned with old beautiful smelling books and a proper pub ambience, this place has a warm vintage touch to it. And the beer..amazing!
Only been to the Queen's Arms on a friday night cocktail evening and it was the perfect setting! The old decor is amazing - the service and quality of the drinks very good. My only thought is that al the times I've passed by it is always always so crowded. But again, perhaps that means everyone enjoys going there!
Our favourite variety of roast dinner is a classic, the chicken; lamb would be far lower on our list, it’s a tough meat to get right and often leads to disappointment. The Queens Arms was serving up lamb on our visit, gosh, this would certainly put our taste buds to the test… We were sat in a booth with a door. It was a lock-in at our table, our first ever taste of captive consumption – we loved it! The booth separated us off from the outside world, creating an intimate and cosy dining experience. Enter the roast, with four huge Yorkshire puddings and two mounds of roasties. A medley of root veg and cabbage arrived and we were all set. I know what your thinking, where’s the gravy EdinBlogger, show me the gravy! Well, confession time, I forgot to document it, excitement was at an all time high after our 6 day wait – we wanted to get stuck in as quickly as possible. We love the idea of sharing a roast like this, it’s like eating at home and encourages a conversation around the food (plus it’s a lot easier for me to sneak an extra helping from a sharing board than from EdinBloggette’s plate when the opportune moment arises). So did the lamb pass the taste test? Yes, yes it did! It was juicy, still a little pink and didn’t require 100 chews like some of the disappointing roasts in the past. The roasties had a lovely crunch which gave way to an incredibly fluffy interior, and th
Visited the Queens Arms for drinks on Friday night and saw they had a new Friday night grill menu. Outstanding!!
Very busy with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. A superb night.
Your typical pub, Queens Arms was a nice pit stop during our trip to Edinburgh. It has a nice selection of food as well as drinks. Friendly and attentive staff! However, I am only awarding four stars because although the food was tasty, nothing blew me away and because there was a very big gap between our starters and mains. I would probably visit again though.
Such a great place! You'd easily miss it if you're walking by, so it's good to know it's here, downstairs! The Royal Daiquiri is fantastic, and the food is excellent (though I added salt to the chips 🙊)!
We made a reservation, but if it's not busy, you can definitely get a table. Also, quiz night!
Sunday roast is legitimately very good but you probably should book a table as it gets very busy.
Service was excellent, all staff were very friendly and prompt.
Good drinks selection, local beers were great.
We ordered the sharing Sunday roast. We wanted something good and not some over priced pretentious tourist BS which Edinburgh seems to be full of now. Thankfully this place delivered.
Everything about the Sunday roast was good; meat was great quality and cooked perfectly, roast potatoes and vegetables were done perfectly.
Price was reasonable but on the high side but it does come with 3 small sharing desserts.
Would definitely recommend.
Oh wow… just wow. Walked down the pretty stone steps with the hope of sheltering from the rain… and into this beautiful haven of warmth and friendliness. Came for a drink and stayed for the most gorgeous chicken and haggis pie.
We went there for their Sunday Roast. We made sure we made a booking before going as we weren't able to get a table the last two times we were there (it just shows how popular their Sunday Roasts are).
This is our second time dining there and once again we had a great dining experience. Our beef and vegetarian wellington were delicious. The meat was tender; the brown sauce was perfect to pair with the beef or the Yorkshire pudding; the wellington was full of flavour. But the roast potatoes were a bit too hard at the outside.
We had been missing their pork roast with crispy pork skin but to our disappointment this roast had been taken off the menu. I really hope they will bring it back in the future.
The service we received was excellent. The waitress was very attentive.
Overall, once again, a very great dining experience. Well done Queen's Arm!
Beautiful and friendly pub! It has a lot of gorgeous decorations (bookshelves and such) in every corner.
We went to watch a very important rugby match without reservation and the staff worked really hard to find us a table. We ended up staying for a while since the energy was great.
We had a lovely mac and cheese (we had to share because the size was huge!) and a few beers.
Highly recommend it.
We had a super nice dinner here. Theres something for everyone - from super yummy vegan salads to fish and chips. Id highly recommend!
We loved this place! The bar menu was cheap and everything that came out was delicious. Atmosphere on point and staff were great.
We came here for a sunday roast and the food was absolutely banging however, for a £45 sharing platter for 2, they could be a bit more generous with the portion size esp with the sides…We had one piece of cauliflower cheese each😅 service was brilliant though!
We loved this pub! Great ambiance, excellent service and food. We were looking for a nice pub on our last night in Edinburgh, and this hit the spot. Good mix of a pub, but one that still served great food and without being too dive-bar-ish. 10/10!
