We were on sight seeing spree today with the hop on hop off bus. Spent couple of hours at the castle and then walled over to the restaurant, as we wanted an italian restaurant. Pretty nice place bang on the main street. We went for late lunch at 3 pm and very few table were occupied. Staff was very nice and courteous. We ordered couple of soft drinks and a minestrone soup, focaccia and ratatouille for starters and a veg pizza and pasta for main course. All items exactly as expected. Nice taste and presentation. Will love to go back again.
I usually try to avoid restaurants around the Royal Mile, Victoria Street and George IV Bridge as they are a super tourist hot-spot that over charge but I was pleasantly surprised at Vittoria on the Bridge.
It's very Italian, the interior is beautiful and quite swish (a little dark for my taste) but lovely. The waiting staff are super friendly and very helpful - and as per most Italians quite charming.
I was the first to arrive and was shown to our table but it was right in front of the kitchen so asked to be moved - really didnt fancy eating my lunch watching the KP clean the dishes! Happily moved to another table in the centre of the restaurant we perused the menu. Their A la Carte menu is extensive but they also have the mid-week lunch menu which is 2 courses for £11.95, which too has some wonderful dishes available.
For starters we ate : POLPETTE - their own delicious meatballs in a tangy sweet and sour tomato sauce with a side of garlic bread. This is a huge portion for a starter. I'm told it tasted good. The tamato sauce was indeed sweet, thick and very tomato-ey.
INSALATA CAPRESE - mini creamy mozzarella balls, lush vine tomatoes, fat olives drizzled with Extra Virgin olive oil. A really nice clean fresh plate of food.
For mains we ate : VITTORIA’S STEAK BURGER - served in a brioche bun with streaky bacon & smoked mozzarella served with chunky chips & a tomato ragu sauce. This was ok for a burger, if a little dry.
TAGLIATELLE ALLA BOLOGNESE - a classic; egg ribbon pasta coated with a rich minced meat ragu. I ordered this dish and it was really really good. The pasta was soft but not soggy and the ragu was perfectly seasoned with a light sharp tang with a rounded sweetness at the end. No doubt the same ragu as per the Polpette starter.
However the star of the day was the GNOCCHI AI FUNGHI DI BOSCO - gnocchi with porcini & woodland mushrooms, with garlic, parsley and a touch of rich truffle-infused Extra Virgin olive oil. This is simply outstanding and I was so envious when my friend ordered this dish; and a dish that I will be returning soon to order for lunch. The truffle oil elevated the rich woody-ness of the porcini mushrooms. The whole dish worked and it was creamy, light, fluffy, silky and very filling.
Peroni beer washed it all down.
I really should have given this place a go a long time ago - it is a gem in the tourist spot! Great food at great value for locals.

Having been here twice, (On a discount) 2 for Tuesday! I got the Cesar salad and when you hear the world (Salad) You think dull, boring and eat some iceberg lettuce when you get home... Nothing like that, fantastic mixture of flavors an HUGE deserts! My friend had the pizza which I had half of as well! Freshly cooked!
Try it!. We went to Vittoria on a week night and had booked an early table so wasn't expecting it to be very busy but there were still quite a few diners. I has read reviews complaining about the service but must say we didn't have any propblems. The food was great and served without a long delay after we ordered. I had the antipasto misto for starters and lasagna verde (yum) and my girlfriend had filetto balsamico. The staff were very friendly and the food extremely tasty. Will definitely go back
Great food great service would definately go back again staff very friendly overall excellent
Vittoria on the Bridge is a quality Italian restaurant that caters for everyone. When we were in there there was an eighteenth and sixtieth birthday, couples on dates and a couple of other family groups like ours.
The staff were friendly towards the grown ups and the children and were clearly competent professionals, able to efficiently serve a busy Saturday evening crowd.
The food was served quickly and all the dishes had good flavours and appeared freshly prepared in house.
Portion sizes were good, more than enough for some of our group and the children's dishes were more than a match for a hungry four year old.
The prices are appropriate for the quality of the food and service and the Edinburgh City centre location just across from the Royal Mile and Grassmarket.
A good solid four, well done.
After returning from Italy this year i longed for an equally good pizza with an authentic feel. Vittoria fell nothing short of perfection, polite service too.
I have visited here twice, and it runs Giuliano's a close second in the running to be the best Italian restaurant in Edinburgh. The service is always friendly and the staff go out of their way to make yourself and your party comfortable.
The last two times I have been here, I've had seafood, such is my liking for the inhabitants of the ocean. The Seabass, which I believe was a special, was a truly amazing dish, most recently I had the Cod Saltimbocca, which bested the Seabass, but only just.
The extensive drinks menu is sure to cater for all manners of tastebuds, alas I have never tried anything from here other than the Coca-Cola or water as I never drink alcohol with a meal. It must be how I can remember every distinct bite of food. Restaurants such as Vittoria make me love that decision even more, as the flavours remain forever etched into my memory.
What a lovely, bright and modern looking restaurant which is large and spacious with another large restaurant downstairs. Excellent location with a nice ice cream shop on the side. A very large bar with an amazing choice of drinks and all the staff were happy , lively and friendly. The food was so good... Probably the biggest chicken breast I've ever had and it was fresh and tasty and my work mate loved his calzone. Really enjoyed it and will definitely be returning 💯
Food quality is alright, starters are good, but disappointing for the main dishes of seafood fruittura (calamari and fried cod) and rib eye (steak itself is bad and overcooked).
Services are not bad though.
Nice location on the bridge. Spacious restaurant. Staff were friendly. Felt as if seasoning wasn't quite right, could have been doing with some pepper. Reasonable priced children's menu, 3 courses for £10 pounds. Drinks were a little on the expensive side with a can of coke working out at roughly £3.50 with service charge added. Vegan pizza was good, soup was a bit bland. Mini doughnuts were a bit hard. Would visit again as liked the setting.
Delicious Italian food as well as the desserts, Ice cream and drinks.
Comfortable seating and the restaurant is clean and spacious.
Friendly staff, special thanks to the waiter Hisham.
Recommendation from family was much appreciated as we enjoyed a delicious dinner. We couldn't have asked for better service from multiple staff. Every course was perfect. We will definitely return.

If you enjoy Italian food, this is a must visit. Almost all staff are actually Italian.
Details:
Drinks - Italian Bramble, raspberry limoncello spritz: both signature cocktails that are packed with flavour, and just the right amount of alcohol
Food - appetizer (meatballs w/sweet & sour sauce + Arancini Al ragu) must get both together and dip the Arancini in the sweet & sour tomato sauce. Easily the best tomato sauce I’ve ever had.
Mains - Raviolino Gorgonzola & Pear - most amazingly unique Italian dish I’ve had. Unreal flavour. Don’t eat a lot of it, it’s a perfect accent to the rest of the meal. I got the Penne Alla Vittoria. It was extremely authentically Italian. The penne noodles were slightly chewier than I’m used to (as they are in Italy). I would try a different dish next time.
Dessert - the Gelato is the nest I’ve had outside of Italy. So perfectly balanced between creaminess and flavour.
Service - Ozzy our waiter was the absolute best. Best recommendations, polite, made the entire experience just that much better.
The salmon is really fresh and good! Portion wise is really filling as well! Love their meatball w tomato sauce! Their tiramisu is refreshing and not sweet too!
Nice restaurant, reservation highly recommend (even if you are a couple) because it has reasonable prices and a good selection of food - so it's very popular. Had a delicious meal, with some cocktails. A good way to start a vacation.
A friend recommended this place from her trip to Edinburgh so we tried it out!
Staff ran like a well oiled machine! We went around 8pm with no reservations and we’re seated within 10 minutes. Got a drink at the bar while we waited.
Service was awesome, food was to die for, and staff was so friendly! I had the ravioli leandro and my boyfriend got the chicken milanese. He liked my pasta more lol.
Fantastic place to have Italian food done right. Beautiful atmosphere as you sit and eat. The service was wonderful, thank you so much Mirco! I ordered spaghetti pomodoro and the red sauce was divine! My husband enjoyed his spaghetti carbonara too! A must when in Edinburgh!
Bravo!!!!👏👏
