What an absolute delight. Discovered this little gem in Edinburgh! We went her for my girlfriends b-day and we loved it.

The menu is full of genuine, authentic Japanese treats. With a very polite and friendly team, absolutely gorgeous, amazing, delicious food with a relaxed atmosphere.

We've found our new favorite place.

We will come back.

Thanks again for a fantastic night.

First stop on our Falling for Scotland tour was the magically misty city of Edinburgh – a destination both Kemey and I know fairly well but can never seem to get enough of. A massive reason we love Edinburgh so much is that is such a lovely place for urban strolls paired with panoramic vistas. The city’s iconic castle, Arthur’s Seat, the Firth of Forth and more drift in and out of one’s periphery while navigating its winding streets and lanes. When not ambling about, there’s a glorious plentitude of cafes, bars, pubs, eateries, cultural attractions and more to drop in or wander through.

Went there for lunch and tried their affordable lunch set menu, which includes a bowl of rice, miso soup and green tea plus two other dishes we can choose from the list. The staff is friendly and very responsive. Will definitely come back to try others on the menu

We've had two great meals at Harajuku Kitchen and can't wait to experience a third. We prefer the smaller dishes to the main meals, but that could just be because we get to eat more food. It's quite easy to get carried away when ordering, make sure you bring somebody sensible to keep you under control when you visit.

I’m a massive fan of Sushi but I have to admit that I am still a beginner when it comes to exploring the large variety of food available in Japanese cuisine. There are a few Sushi restaurants in Edinburgh that give off the Japanese tourist persona – very bright and ostentatious, with the colours of orange and red brightly shining right in your face and a carousel wheel of sushi dishes.

So I was delighted when I visited Harajuku Kitchen. It was a breath of fresh air. Its so unobtrusive that I drove past it twice but once inside its lovely. Painted in a soft grey with pink lettering, the interior has some large Japanese inspired murals.

With a warm smile we were seated and handed the menus and our drinks order taken. We both opted for the Kitsch Cucumber and Fennel Seed Sodas and started our meal off with a delicious bowl of Edamame Beans. Soft succulent pods with a sprinkling of salt! Now it was time to get serious about the menu and decide what to have.

Last month we took a trip along to Harajuku Kitchen on Gillespie Place to get our Sushi on, as it turns out it had much more to offer. We were warmly greeted by the waitress when we arrived and shown to our table by the window. The interior has a nice authentic feel to it, no flashy signs, neon lettering or anything else that seems to be so often associated with Japanese restaurants these days or more specifically Sushi restaurants. Just well set out tables with stylish understated decor. After all it’s the food that’s the important part.

We had a fantastic dinner here. Harajuku is definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants in town and it's well worth the walk up the hill to Brunstfield to visit it. The staff are friendly and more than happy to explain the menu. The range of drinks on offer is great and they stock many of our favourites. On the night we visited there was a number of specials on but we both ordered of the main menu which is extensive. The  best thing about our visit was the dumplings. They were crispy on one side and so moreish! You definitely should order some should you visit!

Comforting, flavourful and good quality Japanese. Harajuku offers a genuine and earnest meal in the very young Japanese cuisine choice available in Edinburgh. Thoroughly recommend the tonkatsu, and the gen mai chat is worth a taste for an authentic accompaniment.

Harajuku Kitchen is situated in Bruntsfield, in a small corner position. We were welcomed warmly and given a choice of tables. The waitress was particularly concerned we didn’t have the sun shining in our eyes and adjusted the blinds for us, which made it all the better for ogling the menu. There was so much to choose from and I could pretty much devour the whole menu (which will become apparent that I actually tried to do). I decided to make the most of the set sushi platter and then a set main of tonkatsu curry. Emma went for a selection of sushi and dumplings and we both had Japanese lemonade. The waitress suggested having some as a starter and some as a main which we thought was a great idea and very good of her to suggest. Emma busied herself by taking lots of amazing photos, so I took a moment to take in the setting. The bistro was relatively busy for a Sunday lunchtime and had a mix of old and young, some who were nipping in for a quick bite and others having a more leisurely Sunday lunch. The dining area is modern, with simple, clean lines. Japanese murals and paraphernalia adorn the room. I also had a taste of the Japanese lemonade, which was refreshing albeit a little too sugary compared with my usual preferences.

Harajuku Kitchen is definitely one of the better Japanese restaurants I’ve been to in Edinburgh. They certainly have one of the best menus in town, with something that would suit every taste. I definitely want to go back and try their veggie chef’s special!

Very friendly and speedy service, amazingly fresh fresh and wonderful interior. Constantly craving sushi after this lovely experience! Wish there was a bit more variety on the menu but everything is so delicious that you'll be satisfied no matter what you choose

I first tasted the delights of Harajuku Kitchen at an Old Town Street Food Festival at the Three Sisters. The dumplings were unbelievable! I knew straight away that I had to visit the restaurant.
Me and my boyfriend went to the restaurant for dinner and enjoyed sushi, tempura and dumplings. The sushi was delicious but the dumplings weren't as good as the stall.
The interior of Harajuku Kitchen is really fun and in keeping with the style of the restaurant. It's quite small inside but we managed to get a table just walking in. For sushi the prices are very average, but the prices of the dumplings are really good.
I have been trying to go to Stockbridge Market for a while, especially for these dumplings, and I finally made it this weekend. The dumplings were just as good as I remember! You will be asked if you want sauce and coriander, I would recommend asking them to prepare it their way, so that you get the best flavours. If you haven't sample these tasty delights, head to Stockbridge Market ASAP!

I would certainly recommend a reservation, unless you're like us and a bit of an early bird diner. Our lovely waitress was over in a moment and gleefully I watched as she made magic with the Japanese lemonade I ordered. Ramune lemonade requires a great thwack on top of the bottle, which causes a little ball to drop down which then acts as a little decoration. Little touches like these make a restaurant experience special. The interior is beautiful, open, airy and light and certainly sets the scene perfectly. We opted for a dragon roll,

I especially love the Japanese inspired pop art on the walls and the collection of books on the window sills that diners can browse through as they wait for their food. Top marks to our wonderful waitress who very confidently talked Seb and I through the menu and even convinced me to try the Calpis Water; a yoghurt based drink with a bit of sparkling water. It was like nothing I have ever tried before but I really liked it. Refreshing and light, our waitress got it spot on. Seb ordered the Garden Green Tea which at Harajuku Kitchen came with rosebuds, strawberry, raspberry and va

I've never yet had a sushi date that is accompanied by bad weather. It's always balmy, blissful skies and zen talk, and my recent meet up at Harajuku Kitchen was no different. I embarrassed myself slightly, for after a long day of work, I knocked on the door before entering. The owner (I suppose) just laughed it off so I wasn't left totally red faced, and it certainly broke the ice.

We were the first duo in, but within half an hour the place was packed.

We opted for a dragon roll, a tuna roll and I had to plump for some pork gyoza (they're my favourites!). The sushi was brought to the table with a flourish, on an enormous lily pad shape plate. The gyoza
looked especially scrumptous, with a fine layer of crisp lying over the pot stickers. Everything tasted exquisite, certainly to my limited sushi knowledge it was expertly done. The dragon roll was certainly my favourite, as ever and it didn't take long for us to scrape the plates clean.

I really really enjoyed my dinner at Harajuku Kitchen. I have more sushi places to explore in Edinburgh, but I have a sneaking suspicion I may already have hit the jackpot, and when blue skies break over Edinburgh you'll probably find me there.

Harajuku is a highly impressive place. We tried a couple of their outstanding main courses and were richly rewarded. Excellent gyoza, too.

We concluded by saying: "I really enjoyed our visit to Harajuku Kitchen. It’s right up there at the top of the crop of Japanese places in Edinburgh. I’ll need to come back again soon to try their sushi and sashimi which I suspect will be very good. I’d highly recommend a visit."

A new favourite for sure. Everything tasted amazing, highly recommend the aubergine miso starter and any of the sushi (best I've ever had), can't wait to come back. Service was also incredible!

The rolls are big, but yummy. Noodles was great! Amazing presentation. I think it is on the pricy side. The food quality was great and fresh

The family love the food here. We've been back numerous times, and its consistently good. The Sushi is excellent but the best thing I have found is the sticky sweet chilli chicken wings. It was quiet when we arrived for a fairly late lunch recently and the service was pretty quick but at busy times the wait for food can be a little long. However staff are friendly and accommodating and it's worth the wait. We will keep going back.

Food was great. Great service. Do book ahead early though, we had to take a 5:45pm dinner slot as we only decided on the day itself. Highly recommended.

Decent Asian food in Scotland. The takoyaki was my favourite. The tonkatsu was decent, the sauce was more nutty than the Japanese one. Age dashi tofu should have used soft silken tofu, and should probably do a quarter of the current size to get a good tofu to tempura ratio.

Cute Japanese bubble towered by a gorgeous church. The staff are wonderfully professional and provided an exceptional service. The food was a feast for the eyes, I would highly recommend getting a flavor of Japan from Scotland

Been several times and haven’t had a bad meal yet… I think there’s adequate choice and it’s just nice and simple whenever I’ve visited Harajuku.
