What a find! Greatly executed good with flair and creativity, small menu mostly centred on fish. The halibut crudo entrée was outstanding and the hake with chanterelles mushrooms and new potatoes also comes highly recommended.
The wine list boat smaller quality producers with even a section on orange wines (hooray !) High attention to details when it comes to service and decor. A charming place opposite beautiful green space made this one of the best lunch during my Scottish stay. Very highly recommended.
Had a great experience at Leftfield, had made reservations before seeing that they were mentioned in the Michelin Guide (no star yet, but some day?). Cocktails were OK, favabean juice instead of eggwhites for a vegan option is a kind touch, but the drinks were not spectacular. The food however was wonderful. The most tender fried squid to start, and a slow braised brined beef brisket for me and a local sea trout with pea risotto topped with kale for my wife. The flavor of the brisket was almost overwhelming, so packed with deliciousness and the servings were generous. Highly recommend if you are in Edinburgh, though it is about a 15 minute walk from the city center.
I dined alone here and had a great time. Everything I ate was delicious, fresh and the servers that night were absolutely warm and lovely. Would really recommend the hake and squid.
Cosy neighbourhood restaurant overlooking the Bruntsfield Links with fantastic seafood. We’ve been a couple of times now and will definitely be back! Pictured: Cured halibut, langoustines and sourdough bread served with EVOO.
An intimate restaurant with high standards. Marvellous fish dishes and lovely wine accompanied and full filled the flavours.
Fabulous - and oh-so-delicate!
Husband and wife present a very cozy, intimate dining place overlooking the park. Their attention to meticulous preparation and presentation is a reflection of the daily selection. Fresh, succulent mussels, sea trout served over a pea risotto, a few other dishes for a perfect meal. And they smile throughout the meal!
It's very small: reserve one of their six tables in advance.
Excellent food with very fresh, high-quality products. Great selection of wines. The location is quite central, with a very nice view over the Bruntsfield Links. The restaurant is small but spacious, making the atmosphere quite intimate and simply perfect for a nice meal with friends and loved ones (particularly for special occasions!). The staff is lovely, very polite and attentive. Fair prices. I can't recommend it more.
I came across this little restaurant while visiting Edinburgh for a wedding this weekend, and was very pleasantly surprised by the high quality of their food, all of the dishes were perfectly executed.
Particularly I would recommend the smoked salmon fish cake and the chargrilled octopus 🐙 - more reviews on them with the photos.
Very friendly staff as well, and I vividly remember that when a couple walked in and tried to get a table but the restaurant was already fully booked, while they had to be turned away, the host took the time to give them some helpful local recommendations, to me this was good hospitality 🙂
Celebrating our daughter's 21st birthday. This restaurant was recommended to us by Jay Rayner and did not disappoint. Nothing was too much trouble. From having an unexpected extra guest on the evening to recommending a cake maker and serving this very stylishly for a small 'cakeage' charge. Thank you for an excellent evening
I only review places I like. This was one of my favorite meals. Warm, friendly environment in an intimate setting with beautiful aesthetic. Gluten friendly food without compromising anything in offerings. Hands down the best meal we had in Edinburgh. Oh, and great wine selection!
Dinner at LeftField was equally scrumptious and beautiful - just look at these dishes! Each one was unique and perfectly balanced. The chargrilled octopus was smoky with crisp edges, and the slow cooked beef brisket and pommes anna was fork-tender and so moreish. Even the humble charred broccolini was done perfectly. Totally recommend!
We had a fabulous private luncheon for old friends to catch up. The food was divine, the service fantastic and the atmosphere was lovely. Can't wait to return.
The oysters were amazing 10/10!!! Food was overall delicious, staff was friendly and took care of us. Would recommend 👍🏻
What an experience !! The service is excellent, all the waitresses are so kind, taking the time with you. Also went for a birthday, left a little note to have a candle, and the staff set it really in a lovely way ! (very discreet as well ;) )
Food wise: the wine selection is great, expect 3 bottles of wine you can have on the glass, and the rest is by bottle, I recall between 35-50+£ per bottle.
Portions are very good. We had oysters (+ ginger / cucumber dip, suprisingly good !), the halibut crudo + crispy squid. Produce are very fresh, lot of flavour and great presentation !
Sea trout + Cod as main, amazing cooking, the accompaniements were perfect. Miso marshallmallow (great discovery ! :O) + cheese board as dessert. Around 145£ (without tip) for 2 people. Will go again for a special occasion !!
Had a lovely time at Leftfield! The food is fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. Special thanks to Rachel for the birthday pie!
Amazing food and cocktail. Had the octopus, hake, mussels, and halibut; all were impeccably prepared and presented. The view of the putting field from the restaurant was a pleasant backdrop.
