Filling, pocket friendly, super fresh and yummy..
Tried the scottish and haggis pie. Huge size, nice flavour. Small space to dine-in and waitress could be more polite :) Pie selection was great!
One of the top places to grab a snack! Found it very reasonably priced and the food tastes great. Get the feta vergas bake most of the times.
Went here to try the famous Mac 'n' Cheese Pie while we're in Scotland for the weekend - it definitely lived up to the hype. The filling was creamy with a traditional macaroni cheese flavour and the pastry was deliciously thin and buttery while maintaining its shape.
On the suggestion made by another reviewer, I also got the Haggis Pie - my first taste of haggis! It was amazing and rivalled the mac with its flavorful spices and smooth potato mash top.
Not a lot of space in the shop but easy to takeaway and you can't argue with the price! A must if you're visiting Edinburgh. Love it.
I love this small pie place! They serve a quite range of pies (try the scottish pie, haggis pie or the macaroni pie!) and very CHEAP. It also located near the Edinburgh Uni main campus so it's a great place for a quick bite while taking break from your paper and assignment!
If you have not tried a pie in your life, then this is the place to have a great start. A small shop serving the best and fresh pies in Edinburgh.
Decent little pieshop, not glitz and glam, but try the Mediterranean Ring pastry! Also tried the double potato, and spinach pastries. Unfortunately they were cold, but despite this, the double potato is well worth a taste.
What Piemaker lacks in frills, it certainly makes up for in substance. It looks fairly unassuming from the outside but do not be fooled – this is an Edinburgh institution loved by many, so if you’re stuck short one day, pop in and see what all the fuss is about!
Situated in the scenic old town this is a traditional Scottish pie maker . Very popular with the residents and tourist .
It's a small outlet with modest near the window seating . We went there twice as I loved the taste the first time around . First we had the haggis turnip and baked patato pie which was awesome and filling too .
The second time around we tried traditional Scottish pie which was well baked and tasted just right .
Though the spices are a bit low for my inidan taste buds but still I loved the taste and the glory of the nicely baked pies will try again once more
Fast and convenient lunch. I really enjoyed going to get a quick lunch at this place in between shows during the Festival Fringe. I liked their haggis pie, the ham and cheese roll, and their steak and pepper pie. I didn't like the macaroni and cheese pie the Scottish pie. I thought the macaroni and cheese pie was overcooked- just really dry, and the Scottish pie had a lot of fat in it. I think it might have been made with lamb (which is a meat that I'm not used to eating much). Staff is very friendly! Service is fast.
Macaroni Cheese Pie...This was from the Piemaker and is a well known pie in Scotland. It essentially what it sounds like is, a pie filled with macaroni and cheese. Interesting and tasty.
Hot, flaky, oozing with delicious chicken filling. I thought I’d died and gone to pie heaven.
Amazing vegan options that are so delicious. Highly recommend them! The staff are friendly and the service is speedy. They warm up the food too which is nice. I got the vegan haggis and it was my fav, and also enjoyed the mushroom vergas and vegan potato roll too. I wanted a classic UK pie experience as a US visitor and this checked that box for me.
So so yummy! Service was very fast and pies came out piping hot.
Sadly only limited bar seating for 4 to 5 pax inside. Go early to ensure their famous pies are in stock.
This is a small, cozy pie place with affordable eats! My friend and I tried the haggis pie and the cottage pie. Both were lovely. Felt like a warm, soothing hug. 10/10 recommend
A small little cafe with great pies!! They didn’t have space to us to dine it when we were there. The lady at the counter was really friendly & recommends us a few Good garden/picnic areas round the corner. We had the haggis pie and the chicken mushroom pie. The pastry is crispy yet inside still nice and juicy/creamy.
Will we come back again? Yes yes & we will recommend this pie cafe to all.
Decent selection of vegan options which is always good. I had the double potato roll which was very tasty. Offer by staff member to be heated up which was great. Very reasonable prices
You gotta get the Haggis pie. You’d think a £3 pie wouldn’t fill you up, but it definitely does. Great flavor at an incredible value. What a gem of a spot.
Good bang for your buck. They have a good variety of hand pies for a decent price. Got a few to go as a snack for walking around Edinburgh, had some a few I didn't really care for, but also a few favorites which I ended up getting again for the train ride to London a few days later.
Absolutely delicious and well-priced. A filling and tasty snack or lunch when out and about in Edinburgh. The Scotch Steak pie was great! Can’t wait to come back and try more.
Unbelievably tasty pies for a great price. We had the macaroni pie, scotch steak pie, cottage pie, and the cherry turnover. They were all excellent. Perfect crust. Delicious gravy. The turnover was flaky and tart. Perfect quick lunch spot. Only downside it’s very hot inside, but it had to be. I would eat here every day.
Amazing pies! Didn’t manage to get a photo of the pies as they were eaten so quickly but honestly so yummy and well priced!
