Having been brought up in rural Andalusia, I was so impressed with this place, the vibe of the room was beautifully authentic and the food was excellent and brought me back to my childhood. Lovely staff and a great place to nip into whilst wandering around Edinburgh.
We were looking for a casual evening with good wine and snacks to bite on. We ordered 6 plates for 2 which was ample. The tapas was good, not exceptional - the highlight being the chorizo and black pudding. Highlight of the evening has to be the sensational service team who were rapid in service, offered advice on dishes and produced one of the finest Expresso martinis for post meal treat. Great for couples!
Dropped in with 3 friends before 6:30, the 4 of us got three tapas for a total of 12 different dishes so take my word that ALL the food is amazing.
Absolutely delicious, the best Spanish tapas restaurant I’ve been.
Ordered a seafood paella for two here. Even though we tried to fit as much as we can into our stomach, we still could not finish it as the portion was huge. The seafood mix inside was pretty nice as the calamari was tender, salmon was okay, and prawn was delicious.
Espetacular. O vinho orgânico foi uma escolha acertada.
Tapas for you, tapas for you, tapas for you, tapas for everybody!!!
Joking aside this was a great place and a great meal. We went during restaurant week and 3 tapas plus a dessert for 15 sounds like a steal. We were all very much stuffed after our meal. I'd personally recommend the cheese croquets. Mmmmmm!
Half a point off because my friend had a spoon and a plate dropped on her and they broke a glass but I think our waitress was just having a bad day!
It's just a quick search in Google to nearby eat outs and found this restaurant has good rating. We didn't booked the table and its fringe time and city is so crowded so are the all eat outs. The staff said they could squeeze us in but only till a particular time since they had reservations for the evening. We had 1hr 30 mins which were quite ok for us and went in. The place itself is very beautiful. The lanterns, wall decor and the details to the tiles. I particularly liked it✌🏼️(apart from the good food😉) Staff are very friendly. And the food is actually really good. We were new to the Spanish cuisine so we randomly chose the food according to our palette and fortunately we didn't get disappointed. If you are roaming around in princes street, you can definitely go to this place. Try to book in advance to have a relaxed time and to enjoy with some good food and wine of course 👍🏼
Delicious! Generous portion sizes for each item. Was with my mother who is lactose intolerant and the staff were very helpful with suggestions and did not hesitate to substitute items such as sauces with contained dairy products. The surprise star dish was the asparagus from the veg section of the menu, tastes really zesty! The dessert was absolutely delicious, i had the cheesecake which tasted really fresh and perfect balance of sweet to end the meal. Will defo come back next time I'm in edinburgh.
One of the most known restaurants in Edinburgh, Cafe Andaluz is definitely a good one! Spanish inspired Tapas. The George Street area is a little bit classier so a nice place to go for a slightly nicer meal (ie not the typical student magnet) that's still reasonably priced. They recommend 3 tapas per person but as we had gone at lunchtime we went for 2 each and shared some Spanish stye garlic bread. We had calamari, patatas bravas, potato croquettes and pork cheeks in a red wine sauce. The pork cheeks really weren't for me as it's not the style of food I normally go for but everything else was totally delicious. We also opted for a dessert of churros and creme brûlée. Again, just totally amazing. Writing this has made me crave tapas again. Quite busy so I'd recommend booking in advance or you'll have a 20ish minute wait at the bar at least.
I have always ended up going back here again and again for some delicious tapas. Definitely recommend the honey glazed chicken as my favourite. The chicken and chorizo paella is beautifully cooked and flavoursome. Get your girl friends all together and head here!
Lovely authentic Spanish tapas bar on George street in Edinburgh. Very spacious with booths both upstairs and downstairs. Wide selection of tapas from around £3.50 - £6 with meat fish and veggie options. We had the patatas bravas, chorizo, ham and cheese croquettes, loam and chicken in line and paprika sauce - all lovely and the service was good.cocktails were also lovely. Before I went to the restaurant we told them it was my birthday and they gave me a complimentary dessert and sang happy birthday! Lovely dinner.
I love this place. Good Spanish tapas, delicious sangria, good wines and modern, nice decor. I have been many times and I will go again and again. I love the service too which sometimes just Spanish. They are fast and nice. Always get me a table even when the place is extra busy. My favourite is the chorizo and the goats cheese with marmalade. So so tasty!
Despite my self-inflicted ignorance, Café Andaluz is an institution in Edinburgh for Spanish tapas and now that I have been there myself, it’s easy to see why. There is a great selection of dishes on offer, a great atmosphere and the food is absolutely top-notch. Now I’ve been there once, I’ll definitely be back again!
Oh my! I wasn't a huge fan of Spanish tapas until I tried Cafe Andaluz. The food was excellent. Good service and good food... What more can you want. I would definitely recommend the Gambas pil pil and the polo rebozato which are my faves. When I visited this place a 2nd time I decided to have a desert so ordered the cheesecake as I am the biggest cheesecake lover! However, I couldn't eat much of this one as it was incredibly thick and a little too sweet for me... Just a heads up.
I have been here quite a few times with family, I even had my graduation dinner here. The food is great as is the service. I just love this restaurant!!
Have to say our visit today was filled with joy and amazing food.
Staff incredible and the food as always absolutely amazing. Being a tapas bar we had a very varied choice and as a result a very varied meal. Everything about it was brilliant.
The total cost was significantly lower than you'd expect as well due to their weekly deals which run until either 6.30 or 7pm (I forget which) and provided you sit at your table prior to the time quoted on the menu you get the deal (3 tapas per person & drink for £20,ish).
Genuine Spanish feel and me and the other half also said time and time again during the meal how it feels like we were actually in Spain. Brilliant.
All in all, fantastic dinner with zero complaints.
One of my favourite restaurants in Edinburgh. I've been here a few times and tend to get the same tapas dishes each time! I love the bakes goats cheese and the sliced potatoes with cream cheese. My meat eating friends have dishes such as chorizo and black pudding which they said was amazing. Prices aren't too bad, and booking is essential as it's always busy. Great atmosphere with a traditional Spanish look about the place. I can't wait to go again!
Tapas at its best, served by a champion guy from Barcelona I thought I was back in Spain. Simply the best if in town check this place out, will leave full and happy and a great wine selection. Could not eat it all...
Best food anywhere in Edinburgh. I can't say enough good things about this place... Affordable, delicious, beautiful interiors, great staff, great portion sizes, just everything. I've travelled through Spain and this is as close to authentic as I've ever found outside the country. Wish I could eat here every night.
Just like Andalucia. We'd wanted to eat here for ages, and somehow never quite got there. Over the Festival, we finally made it, and I'm so glad we did. This restaurant is utterly gorgeous inside - everything reminded us of being in Andalucia, from the rich colours to the ironwork and the tiled tables. Just beautiful. Service was quick, friendly and efficient. We had tapas, and there were gorgeous. One memorable one was the chorizo and black pudding - incredibly rich and utterly delicious. Good range of tapas on offer and a lovely menu. Already looking forward to a return trip.
Lovely restaurant, liking the Sunday offer with three tapas for £14.95
Muy bien. Have been at Cafe Andaluz a couple of times - and the first impression is always pretty good on the decor. I remember back and remember a shop that used to sell rugby shirts here...
The staff are nice but tend to be a bit scatty- it's one of those all or nothing kind of approaches i.e. you can't find someone to order your next drink from, but then you get four 'is everything OK' quality checks in under four minutes from different staff.
The food quality is excellent and the place is always busy - meaning they can keep the items on the fairly substantial menu fresh.
Have particularly enjoyed the black pudding dish, the (out of context) beef carpaccio, and the mushroom crostini with the truffle oil.
Wine list is a bit boring, but it's serviceable!
Amazingly beautiful restaurant with delicious, mouth-watering food. Do not miss out on this restaurant!
Despite these points I’ve always had a very enjoyable gluten free meal at Cafe Andaluz and I’d recommend it to anyone who is on a Gluten Free diet.
If you live in Glasgow, there is also a Cafe Andaluz in Glasgow city centre.
I absolutely love crème brûlée, so when I saw crema Catalana on the menu it was a no brainer. I scoffed the lot, of course! The caramel topping had the right amount of crunch, and the satisfying *crack* when I tapped my spoon on it. The custard beneath was vanilla-ey and creamy and just amazing.
Outstandingly good tapas. Super menu with good choice. Great service. All you want from a top quality restaurant really. You won't be disappointed.
My Mum and I visited here as a pre-Mother's day treat. The atmosphere, food, and service was great! It was a very busy Saturday afternoon, and although it was buzzing with people coming and going the service remained great and our dishes came in good time. We had the black pudding with apple, the mussels, lamb meatballs, patatas granidadas, garlic mushrooms, battered chicken in honey & mustard dressing. Followed by the rasberry pavlova to share and a liqueur coffee each. YUM! Can't wait to return.
This is not the type of restaurant i would normally go for, i'm usually the type for steak and chips with mushrooms etc, so to go to a tapas place is so different.
Food was brought out promptly and was good value for money whilst also being very very tasty. Not major issues but the staff missed individuals when doing the drinks orders and needed a bit of asking to come and clear plates etc and take orders for desserts but nothing i mind in a very busy restaurant.
Noise levels are loud so not the best place to do for an intimate dinner for two or to try and have a proper discussion round the dinner table, but the food is very good.
Ill be honest, I wasn't a big fan of Tapas! However my beautiful girlfriend Sultana Malik had insisted we go lol. From the outside it doesn't look big however when you walk inside its huge! Amazing morroccan themed decor! It was a busy vibrant atmosphere, staff were friendly too! We started picking out different dishes! The sweet potatoe spicy dish was delicious!! Could eat that a million times over !! Ever since that day i have changed my thoughts on Tapas! Next time in Edinburgh will be going Cafe Andaluz straight away! Unfortunately my battery ran out so only have one picture, but follow Sultana, she took some pics of the food! :) price around £12 - £24 per head!
My favourite tapas restaurant in Edinburgh! The food is so yummy! Nom nom nom! I'm loving the Moroccan decor :)
Each of the top as we ordered were super tasty. Very kind staff, and an excellent ambience.
We had a nice little booth by a window overlooking the sidewalk and it was nice and quiet and we could hear each other talk
Came here after a bad experience at Miller & Carter. I was welcomed by very friendly staff, the service was attentive but not in-your-face, the food was very tasty (could have been a tad warmer) and the atmosphere was great. Highly recommended.
This is a lovely spot for dinner, 6 tapas (1 meat, 5 veggie) and two drinks for £30 each, including tip. They were very busy, but kindly seated us at the bar so we could order drinks and look at the menu while we waited for a table to open up. The wait was shorter than expected, and the drinks we ordered in the meantime were great. I had the pomegranate mocktail which I would recommend!
Of the tapas we had, the goat cheese with marmalade and the lamb tagine were the standouts, both fantastic.
Came into this welcoming restaurant on a rainy afternoon and enjoyed many fine tapas and paired with both Rioja wine and regional beer. Very satisfied with the food, service and atmosphere.
We had a great celebratory meal here with quite a large party of about 14 of us and the food and service was excellent.
Despite a couple of difficult questions about the menu and some picker kids in our group (and a packed restaurant), the waiter was patient and took our order well. The food was brought out surprisingly quickly considering our party size and just how busy the restaurant was, and all of the dishes were absolutely delicious.
I had the fried haddock, a chorizo and black pudding stew and padron peppers and they were all perfect. Everyone else in our group was very happy with their choices as well, and I'll definitely be coming back again!
Good value for money for the weekday lunch menu to choose 3 tapas. A good selection of dishes, too. Very central location of the city centre in the New Town.
Beautiful place. It was very noisy. But they were very busy. We were booked into the sister restaurant, but their gas stopped working. So we were moved here. I would go back if I wanted Spanish Tapas food again.
Really cool decorated
Wee bar
Lots of tables, well laid out
Friendly good staff
Excellent food

Enjoyed an extraordinary tapas lunch with a friend. One dish was more amazing than the next. Beautiful space and attentive service. Best lunch we had while on holiday.
I was in Edinburgh for my birthday. My friend and I came here for dinner. The restaurant was beautiful on the inside. Our waitress was really nice and made sure we had everything we needed. My friend and I got the Paella and it was so good! We also got the Churros and Crème Brûlée both we amazing. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Fun place for tapas. They have a lot of space so it's relatively easy to get a table.
The place has a really nice ambience. It is a bit loud inside, and sometimes you need to shout, even just to talk to the person sitting opposite you.
The tapas were excellent. The chorizo in red wine was especially delicious.
The service is quite quick and helpful.
Overall a great experience and would look forward to visiting again.
I always enjoy a trip to Cafe Andaluz! The sangria is great and the tapas dishes are very authentic. I particularly love the goats cheese with orange marmalade, that one keeps me coming back for more! A hint of Scottish with black pudding in some of the dishes is also appreciated.
Nice place with lovely food.
Service was ok despite losing our drinks order initially.
It’s not the first time I was there, I love the Spanish food. We asked for a table without a booking and we were lucky to get a cozy table, friendly staff that talk to you in Spanish if you want.
The atmosphere is amazing and the food a good taste, we were served prompt and from time to time the waiters checked if everything is right with your dishes.
I recommend this restaurant if you visit Edinburgh and want to have the taste of Spain 🇪🇸.
Absolutely amazing food. 3 tapas for £18. Portions big enough to make you feel full. I would definitely recommend chicken and cod.
The place is quite big inside, and they have a sitting area upstairs as well.
The staff was lovely and very friendly.
I'm dropping one star because it was very loud instead and made it difficult to talk to people.
