First time I enjoyed the Greek cuisine, and I wasn't disappointed, nice and flavorsome, tried a couple of dishes which were recommended by the waiter together with a Meze to start. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant area, nice and bright and very clean, staff very attentive.
After moving to Edinburgh last month, the first restaurant I visited all by myself was Mr. Nick's Greek Kitchen.
It was past 7PM and I could see most of them winding up in the Ocean Terminal Mall. The staff at Mr. Nick’s kindly obliged to my request of sitting outside in the verandah although initially they indicated a takeaway.
I ordered the Med Veg wrap and a cappuccino at the bar. The wrap was indeed very ‘Greek’ and tasted good. The Cappuccino was perfectly done too.
Moolah – Less than 8GBP for a wrap and a coffee!
Pros – Good food, vegetarian choices available, very helpful and polite staff, ample seating, stunning views of the port if you choose to sit outside.
Cons – Be careful of the birds when you are seated outdoor.
Recommended – Meal with a sunset view!
Our previous grubcrawl endeavours have been focussed on the city centre, so it was good to take the show to Leith and put it through its paces. I had Our Beer Man for company and given he’s a Leith local I was relying on him for much of the direction finding. And two of our three dining locations were his choice, too. We started at the grim Ocean Terminal shopping centre, where the chains generally hold sway, but where an interesting new Greek place, Mr Nick’s, had recently taken up residence. We popped in to give it a try.
It's so refreshing to find something other than a chain restaurant in Ocean Terminal. Mr Nick's menu is simple and reasonably priced for lunch, I was munching into my chicken pitta within minutes.
The chicken was crispy and succulent, folded up in a perfect pitta. The fries were few and far between and a little al dente, but this didn't bother me overly. I followed my kebab with an enormous serving of baklava, the ideal way to increase my butter and syrup levels (which I suspected were at an all time low).
I'll happily return, the views of the sea, music and authentic food will be as close as I get to Greece for now.
There’s certainly no shortage of food outlets in Ocean Terminal, with the likes of Wagamama, Pizza Express and Franky & Benny’s all taking up residence. On a recent visit, Mr. Nick’s seemed to be the only busy outlet, with only a couple of empty tables. We (the girlfriend and myself) decided to try it out.
We both went for the Chicken Gyros pita. It’s described on the menu as being wrapped with tomatoes, onion tzatziki and fries and was only £4.50. Who would have thought that including fries in a pita would be such a good idea? The meat to salad to fries ratio was spot on, and there was just enough of each to keep hunger at bay but not ruin my appetite for dinner later.
The staff at Mr Nicks were both friendly and helpful, making it a delightful place to pop into for a spot of lunch. It’s perfect for grabbing a quick bite to eat while out shopping or grabbing some dinner before or after a visit to the cinema. Note: They don't offer alcoholic beverages
(Sorry! I didn't get any pics during this visit.)

Lovely place to eat, great staff, delicious food, served quickly and very reasonable prices. We stopped here by chance in October and couldn't be happier. We had the meal deals pictured below. Chicken Souvlaki pita wrap and chicken gyros pita wrap. I wish I loved closer to enjoy more often.
Really nice and relaxing place and the staff are always very friendly. Foods nice and reasonably priced and gyros are super tasty. One star lost as the Irn Bru is draught and not tasting like the real thing. The good thing is they supply free glass bottled water for the table if required which is really super of them. Well worth a visit 😊
Great restaurant fast service fairly priced. Dinner gyros a must very filling. Good location. I Love Greek food
I have been here several times, and never get disappointed! I love the food, I love the portions, I love the staff! If I want greek food, I always come here!

Genuine Italian pizza, decent Prosecco, very good service , awesome view
Mr Nicks is a lovely little place, competing against all of the usual high street garbage places dominating every city.
This open-plan restaurant offers great food at a great price. Friendly staff here in this Greek Taverna meets kebab shop. The chicken gyros wrap was stuffed full and went down a treat, despite having a good portion I still wanted more. If visiting the harbour don’t go for the big chains go for Mr. Nicks that can only be found here and one new site in Glasgow.
Perfect chicken Gyros served with a smile and only £6. Big portion well worth a visit if you in the area.
Can't remember what I ordered, I think it was the mixed meat gyro with cheese, but I remember it was delicious
The best chicken gyros in Edinburgh! Friendly, nice and helpful staff. Great atmosphere! Definitely recommend that place!
From a food point of view, it was almost as if we were back in Greece. Gyros to die for. Almost too much to eat for one 😉
Working in the job centre i am more akin to handing giro's out but on this occasion being given the chicken gyros was an absolute delight. My colleague was also delighted by his gyros and we vowed to visit again before the partnership ceases soon. Good value for money nice staff nice food. Well worth a lunch time trip.
Great cafe atmosphere owner and staff lovely and friendly . Their gyros my favourite. They also do a larger version which really is large . It's a family run concern . Great for casual dining . Have reward card which gives you free meal after ten visits. They are genuinely Greek Canadians so food authentic.
Great dinner with large portions! Reasonable prices and friendly stuff ! Fantastic dessert!!!
Absolutely love the chicken gyros 😍 there used to be one in Glasgow but has recently closed 😞 only down point I had with my Edinburgh visit today was it seemed there was only chicken at the top and not all the way thro 😞 Mostly chips and tomato at bottom. Still tho it was delicious and will most certainly be back. 👍

Great tasty food !
The Gyros are a must have above all if you like those french restaurants in Paris called Grec it’s the same kind of sandwich and even better.
The service as well is pretty good with welcoming staff.
My family and I eat here recently for the first time after passing by the restaurant on frequent visits to Ocean Terminal. The food is amazing (both fresh and tasty) and the staff offer a fantastic level of customer service. Will definitely be back and would not hesitate to recommend a visit to any one.
