Absolutely love Taste of Italy, been coming here for around 7/8 years! Service is always amazing and the food even better. It is also cheap if you're looking for good quality food at a more affordable price.
A fine pizzeria with quite a good ambience, however sitting was always a concern here, getting a table. Nonetheless, the thin crust Pizzas were a joy to eat along with selection of beers. I used to prefer Peroni when dinning here.
A very popular busy spot with really good food.
The staff are super friendly and efficient. The food is tasty, hot and delivered to your table in record time.
We went for the ARANCINO DI RISO BALL - breaded riceballs stuffed with tomato, mincemeat, Mozzarella, lightly fried, served with salad and a side of Napoli sauce. It was nice. For me a little underseasoned but dipped into their Napoli sauce, tasted good.
Next up was pizza. We went half and half.
PRIMAVERA - Parma ham, fresh rocket leaves & sweet cherry tomatoes, and the SCOZZESE - Angus beef steak strips, rocket, parmesan shavings, balsamic vinegar. Both were delicious. The pizza base was crisp and fluffy and just perfect all round. I love fresh rocket and parmesan cheese, great flavour combo, so both these tasted lovely. I'm glad we opted for the 10 inch pizzas as the 14 inch would have been far too big. You get a lot of food for the money.
This was washed down with a really lovely house red. A couple of glasses later and very full bellies, we were very happy indeed.
Great spot pre-theatre/cinema or for a general catch up with friends.
This place wasn't my first choice as I was on my way to have lunch at Volvona & Croalla but I'm glad I stopped here as my lunch was satisfying. What a great gem!
On a recent visit to Edinburgh, I went in to this place for a dinner whilst exploring the neighborhood.
Located near the corner curve, the place is fairly nice in terms of its ambience and approach.
We ordered a Diavolina and a Spaghetti Carbonara and these were really good. The pizza was so delicious that I almost ate a 10" on my own.
Friendly and courteous staff and extremely pocket friendly - a definite place for a wholesome economical and tasty meal.
Whether you want to grab a quick bite to eat or have a proper sit down meal, Taste of Italy is a fantastic option near the city centre. With great food that is excellent value for money and a nice chilled out vibe, you really can’t go wrong.
Taste of Italy serves high quality dishes, quickly and efficiently, at a very reasonable cost
Because ladies and gentlemen. Taste of Italy is the perfect booty call.
Drink your glass of Vino, and when you've had your plate of Scallopino, make them play the Piccolino, the catchy Piccolino. Lyrics to The Piccolino, Irving Berlin from 1935′s Top Hat As Strictly-mania reaches fever point ahead of the coming weekend's final, my friend Louise and I recently had a night of tripping the light fantastic when we went along to see Top Hat at The Playhouse. Tom Chambers did his best to fill Fred Astaire's sizeable tap-shoes, and what he lacked for in vocals and dancing, he more than made up for with charm. The production was a glorious technicolour glamour -fest. The live orchestra, the chorus girls, and top hats, white ties and tails kept us little vintage-lovers more than happy. Before heading along though, we stopped in to Taste of Italy, which is the little corner spot at Baxter's Place. You might remember it from 'the olden days' as The Bronx Diner, what used to be the home of Edinburgh's best jam doughnuts, in my 12year-old mind's eye, anyway. These da
Really informal restaurant to grab a bite or drink a hot beverage. I had my usual calzone (£7.95) and it was delicious. The 1L house wine is £12 and really worth the money. Waiters were polite as always but make sure you bring some extra money to leave a tip because they can't receive the tip on card payment.
This place my über take away or coffee place. Usual I get a quick lunch from here before work or if I have time I pop in for a coffee. Good spot for people watching as well. Don't expect too much and then you'll love the place! Cheap and tasty food with a quick casual service.
Taste of Italy is my default choice for a carb-tastic Italian food fix. The casual, diner-style setting is perfect for either a spontaneous, on-the-way-home-from-work-and-can't-be-bothered-cooking night, or for a date/pre-theatre dinner.
This eatery is the more affordable, informal wee sister of the city's popular Vittoria and La Favorita restaurants. The lower price however does not compromise the standard of food or the authenticity. It provides a great, cheap alternative to its predecessors, in a nice, central location.
Since I can never commit to a whole meal of the same thing, I usually opt for a half and half pizza and pasta with my dining partner. The pizzas are thin, fresh and delicious, and I would recommend the spaghetti carbonara or tagliatelle dello chef. I'm also very partial to the garlic bread with cheese, the bruschetta and the bolognese arancini balls.
Food aside, the staff are always attentive and the service is quick and friendly. It is a bright, informal atmosphere, so if you're cooking for a dimly lit, cosy dinner venue then this place isn't for you.
A main course and a beer comes to no more than £10 per person. Add a starter or dessert to the mix and you still won't be parting with much more than £15. BARGAIN. The quality of Italian food for that price is difficult to beat in Edinburgh!
** this restaurant does not accept reservations, you just have to take the chance on arrival. I've never had to wait for a table, even on a Friday night.
This place looks a little tacky from the outside but I promise you that it serves some of the best Italian food I've ever had. Actually Italians eat here. Does that not convince you?
Also super cheap!
The best restaurant. Freshly cooked food, lovely and friendly staff. A wide variety of food and drinks.
I have always been satisfied with this place.
The staff was very friendly! Food was good but not great. Dessert options are plenty and I liked Tiramisu…was of perfect texture and good size served.
The music was a bit loud in the background but otherwise a good place for a quick bite and good menu to choose from
Small hidden gem. It’s really a taste of Italy. I had Pizza and it was so good. Beautifully done with crisp crunchy base. Prices are a bit high but I think it’s worth it for the quality and taste of the food. I also had Vanilla Gelato, it is smooth, tasty and just beautiful.
Delicious breakfast, I love their breakfast smoothie with coconut milk and the scrambled eggs on toast. Try their sourdough! The whole family loved breakfast.
Staff were pleasant and excellent. the food is good and would highly recommend.
I am in this place only the second time, but I already understand how good it is here, very nice workers and good food which can be eaten all day, I can easily advise this cafe to those who love small atmospheric institutions
The staff is very friendly and helpful
We tried the margarita pizza very good
Mac and cheese also good
The fries are not good 👎
Excellent food and coffee at any time of day! My wife and I went there a total of 5 times during our visit to Edinburgh! Everything was good, the coffee was consistently excellent, and the prices were reasonable. The atmosphere wasn't the coziest I've ever encountered, and the service was not particularly noteworthy, but the food always came in a reasonable amount of time, and I couldn't find an entrée I didn't like! Definitely a MUST if you are into Italian food.
Food was pretty alright and the service was great! I asked for an ungodly amount of Parmesan cheese on my spaghetti bolognese and they delivered. I would definitely come back!
Had a alright brunch there with family, good service and nice food with a calm atmosphere
This is an amazing place. The staff are very professional and efficient, the food is excellent and the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming, no matter the weather outside.
Lots of places could learn a thing or two about customer service from them, so good !
Fast and friendly staff served 3 of us. Side of olives - large bowl with salad leaves large enough for 3. Chicken burger with extra chips (large portion), burger with blue cheese (hubby didn't think taste of cheese very strong but burger good). I had chicken and spaghetti - again large portion and tasty. Finished off with tiramasu - very creamy and would have preferred a slightly stronger coffee taste. One large glass wine one cocktail and one soft drink. Cost £76 incl tip, so great value for money.
I fell in love with this place immediately I walked in!
My fiance had the Penne al Salmone and a Strawberry Milkshake, and I had the Chicken Caesar Salad with a Strawberry milkshake.
The chicken Caesar salad tasted so fresh and delicious, and the Penne was amazing too.
We were served by the beautiful Elide, an we totally loved the ambience in this restaurant.
We rate it a 10/10!
Wonderful coffee and sausage on a roll for breakfast. Came back later for ice cream and a coffee. Food was wonderful and service quick polite and friendly. Spotlessly clean. Very responsible prices considering location.
First time to Edinburgh and found this gem of a place for breakfast That we came back 3 days says a lot. We are in out 60s and i hope by now know what’s good and what’s not. Steph and Daniel who served us were always welcoming , smile easily and are efficient . We both had porridge and tea and i had eggs Benedict all served promptly all good quality and value. As soon as anyone leaves the tables are cleaned and the whole place looks spotless and well maintained . The catering industry is a hard taskmaster. The staff and owners show how it can be done well . Congratulations on the upsell Daniel on our first day. Well done Steph keep smiling thank you all
Absolutely lovely staff! The food came very quickly and was good, hot and very filling.
Gonna come back!
