Had tea here during a two night break, food is amazing we had a sharing starter which had so much food on and was so nice. My husband had haggis ravioli which he said was so tasty, I had lasagne which was served piping hot and was so fresh and tasty. Staff here are lovely and very attentive. A lovely authentic gem of a place I would definitely recommend
One of the few places open in Boxing Day, able to cater adequately for a gluten free diet. The food was delicious- I have avoided Italian restaurants since I stopped eating gluten but everything was clearly labelled with allergens and there was PLENTY to choose from. We all got pizza and salads- huge portions, amazing and fresh ingredients, great service. Will be back!
Nice atmosphere. Feels homey in a nice Italian way. Prices are reasonable and service is very good. Food is just fine too. Good value.

The next time we’re in the area and pining for pizza we’ll be sure to visit Bar Italia Ristorante again, it had a real authentic feel and the pizza was exactly what we needed.
This is the best gelato I’ve ever tried. I tried three flavors: pistachio, cheesecake, and chocolate. Love them all. It was my first time here and definitely not the last.
Authentic family-run Italian restaurant with a rustic ambience in the heart of Edinburgh. Staff are very friendly, although knowing some basic Italian definitely helps. Highly recommended trying the Pizza Calabrese, although their pastas and risottos were also very good. Can get very busy over the weekend for dinner, so I'd recommend booking for a visit at those times. All in all a great place for a true Italian dinner in a laid back atmosphere, and would highly recommend a visit
Authentically Italian! Excellent ambience and service was top notch. Have to book as it’s heaving in here. We had to wait a little while for our table to be ready but was worth it. The seafood pasta could have had a little more seafood. The squid ink pasta was on the drier side but the sauce was delicious and had a good depth. Mussels were plump and stewed in a tangy white wine sauce. Calzone was deep filled and had a crispy crust.
It never fails to please. Great food, lovely atmosphere and the staff make you feel so welcome with their attentive friendly service. Went with the whole family from 10 years to 83 years and there was something for everyone. I had the pizza, freshly made, thin base, absolutely delicious. Loads of pasta dishes to choose from as well as meat dishes. Desserts were great too with an offering of home made ones on offer as well. Great.

What a find. We walked in on the of chance and we were able to get a table (highly recommend you book). Welcoming staff, delicious food (we had a pizza and a pasta dish and shared), good prices. Was just lovely. Would highly recommend and would return

We had an absolutely fantastic evening! We've been in a lot of Italian restaurants before (in Italy and all around Europe) and this is one of the best.
Service was very welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious. You can definitely see and taste that everything is homemade. The pasta has just the right texture and all components work fantastic together.
A must try is definitely the homemade gelato. I love pistacchio ice cream and I tried a lot before and this one was the very best.
We will come back!
