Lovely atmosphere
I had never been before but went with some pals and was not disappointed. Great choices in whisky and Luke was so friendly and my friends loved his cocktails. Would definitely go again to try the food
The Mercat Bar & Kitchen on West Maitland Street has been trading in many different guises for quite a while. Their latest incarnation seems to have food as a strong focus so I popped in to check it out. Their daytime menu offers a very broad selection including starters, sandwiches, salads & platters, main dishes, burgers and various other whatnots.
Great service and beautifully presented food. Much more than your average pub grub. A few seafood dishes which require an acquired taste. It's a great bar! I'll be back.
I went to The Mercat Bar with my blogger friends to taste the bar's new menu.. I entered the bar and was greeted promptly. I ordered a coke and sat down. The table was decorated really nice and the restaurant had a lot of burning candles inside wine bottles.. Which I love! Throughout the night the service was amazing! Our waiter was super friendly and really approachable! I even asked him for an IPhone charger & he tried to get me one!! The starters were absolutely delicious and were arranged really beautifully. My favourite was the prawn & chorizo bruschetta! So delicious. The mains were beautiful - really well seasoned! Don't even get me started on the dessert - it was incredible. The chocolate mousse tasted like Terry's Chocolate Orange! I was in HEAVEN! I can't recommend The Mercat Bar enough.. I loved the decor, the service & of course the food! Will absolutely be returning!!!
My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal at The Mercat. The atmosphere was great as a trendy eatery and to have a drink. We both went for the beef sizzler skipping the garlic bread as I forgot to order it, which was a good thing as the portions were generous. It arrived with flare as it sizzled and boiled on the hot plate. The salad and chips for myself and mash and salad for my girlfriend were also generously sized and delicious. The peppered sauce may be a little spicy for some palletes but I found it delicious. Service was good and we went again the next day for breakfast!
Great menu, service and food. We visited for brunch, a good selection of items to choose from and somethinga bit different to other menus. The only reason for not giving it 5 stars is I felt it looked a bit run down. I would return though.
Delicious Fish & Chips on fish Friday! Friendly service!
Excellent food and service! Our server, Logan, really went above and beyond in giving us very helpful advice about the area. The food was excellent and priced really well and had large portions.
Hosted a 40th birthday party in their function room. Lee, the owner, could not have been more helpful if he tried. Scott, the manager, answered my multiple questions on the run up to the event.
The function room is gorgeous, tastefully decorated and has everything a party needs.
Will definitely use this venue again. Its brilliant and I highly recommend it.
Good place to come for breakfast and lunch. Freindly staff, quick service and good coffee. Good location as it is near the tram stop for the airport so if you need to head to the airport after it's ideal. Nice setting and nice atmosphere inside too.
Good selection of beers gins and whiskies.
Has downstairs area available. Didn’t try the food.
One small criticism. I asked the bar staff to use less cola in my bourbon but they filled the glass right up with coke on a couple of occasions which diluted the flavour of the whiskey.
Friendly staff, great food.
Can be really busy during rugby weekends, but still worth a visit.
Great location. Awesome breakfast, really yummy and traditional. Had teapots brought to the table which made our morning on a frosty december. Friendly staff and really lovely interior. Would recommend definitely. Enjoyed a traditional scottish breakfast.
While out and about in haymarket Edinburgh we came across this place it looked smart but very friendly from the outside so thought we would try the breakfast after entering it looked clean + very fresh even the staff came across as warm we ordered the full scottish breakfast instead of haggis a had black pudding it was a decent size everything was fresh even.down to the cuppa it was good prices vary but for 2 breakfast + drinks it was less then £20 il definitely be going back to this place .....
