A really nice place to head out for brunch. The afternoon tea with some toast sounds just about right. Its a cute small bakery in leith. Definitely worth a visit.
Visited this place whilst on holiday with my family. It’s the perfect place for a delicious, full filling breakfast.
Everyone recommended us to have a meal at this place and it certainly did not disappoint.
Had been to Mimi's bakehouse and its was and fantastic place to hangout ooh soo sweet Mimi's french toast stack ek dum swadisht ek delicious
Grand marnier hot chocolate was also too yummy and superb
I’ll just put this out there. I love Mimi’s. I have always loved Mimi’s since they opened in Leith and my love affair with their French Toast began and I doubt it will ever wane. Mimi’s Bakehouse first opened their doors in late 2010 and they have been adding to their Bakehouse empire ever since, opening up in Corstorphine and the Royal Mile. They are a family of bakers and long may their reign continue as most things, okay everything, that comes out of Mimi’s is utterly delicious.
A small yet cosy bakery where the staff are always smiling and friendly! A favourite haunt for a girly catch up session or just a peaceful breakfast, you have to try the scones at Mimi's, they're the best!
A friend had recommend Mimis and as my daughter loves high teas we thought we would give it a go for her birthday. We went for the beforenoon tea which is only available Saturday's and Sunday's 9am until 12pm,the bake house was extremely busy so I was ever so glad we booked and it was the last Sunday of the Edinburgh festival. We all had a hot drink to start, amazing selection of teas available The beforenoon tea had bacon butties, cheese scones,French toast, waffles with toffee, muffins and granola. You can also get a glass of orange,Apple and cranberry juice for an extra £2.00. We had never experienced the sweet with the savoury before but very tantalising on the tastebuds. It all comes on the 3 tier cake stand and what you can't eat can be taken away. We all enjoyed the tea and the service was excellent the staff even put a candle on a scone for my daughter. We will all be going back some time to try some of the different teas available.
Amazing food and drinks! Must try the banana split French toast, it is simply delicious. The veggie gourmet breakfast is also quite nice.
Would definitely go back there!!
Mimi's is extremely popular in Edinburgh but I only managed to visit for the first time last week. My boyfriend and I went in for tea and a cake in the afternoon and I was surprised at how big the cafe is inside; I know that it can be difficult to get a seat at weekends, so I imagined it to be quite small.
There were so many delicious looking cakes that we both found it hard to order. Eventually we chose to share a Mars bar crispy and a slice of banana and Nutella cake. Both were amazing, the banana and Nutella is a fantastic combination and the Mars bar crispy was a huge square with bits of Mars bar on top.
Along with the cakes the service was a highlight of our time at Mimi's. Our server was cheerful and bright and very engaging with us. I can't wait to try more of Mimi's cakes!
Just been to the beforenoon tea at Mimi's after having it on my hitlist for a while. Dear lord, what a treat! Always been a fan of their afternoon tea offering but this is in a league of it's own. Delicious bacon rolls on soft warm rolls, granola, a teeny cupcake- and then the stars of the show...cinnamon buns, waffles with dulche de leche and cheese and chive scones. Can't decide what my fav was- but I was left unable to speak...which is unheard of. Brilliant.
It took me a while but I finally visited the much spoken about bakery for afternoon tea. The ambience, staff and variety offered on the platter, definitely does justice to the popularity the place has received. Just a word of advice though, don't make the mistake I did by ordering hot chocolate, you'd probably be better off with some tea instead.
I come here quite regularly for coffee and cake for work and am always greeted by great service and a great atmosphere. The cakes are amazing, I can never decide what I want. My favourite is the red velvet cupcakes they are amazing!
Not sure what has taken me so long, but I finally made it to the mother of all bakeries this month.
There were so many tempting options: giant slices of cake, cupcakes, scones, cheesecake.. but I had a hankering for chocolate and opted for their chocolate caramel brownie. It was close to £4, but worth the price considering how massive it was. And it was delicious - rich and moist, with a thick caramel frosting and crumbly, caramel-flavoured bits in the centre.
There are so many more treats I'd like to try, so I'll definitely return!
There are very few people who live in Edinburgh that haven’t heard of Mimi’s Bakehouse. It’s a bit of an institution around these parts, and for good reason. Their belly-busting cakes and traybakes are absolutely legendary, and if you want to make an instant friend out of me, just treat me to one of their afternoon teas!
Minis bakehouse has to be one of my all time favourite spots in Edinburgh.
Amazing cakes, brilliant decor/atmosphere and just generally a great place for a slice (or 5) of cake and goodies.
*We got there around 2 but had to wait 30minutes on a table... It wasn't a problem as they were super busy and it sunny outside but I do suggest booking even if it is just cake and Tea.
*We got 2 slices of Victoria sponge, a snickers brownie and a raspberry meringue bar to share among four and it was plenty...
*The snickers brownie was moist, not too chocolatey and with just the right amount of Peanut Butter flavour - 10/10
*The raspberry Meringue Slice was okay, a little bit too sweet though but the idea was good - 4/10
*The Victoria Sponge Slice.... OMG... Is all we had to say!! the classic really was the best with a lovely, crumbly soft sponge with melting in your mouth buttercream and a tasty berry curd layer through the centre. - 12/10
*The service was a little slow to begin with as you have to order the cakes from the counter by yourself but I suppose it does work.
We got a few slices of cheesecake to take away.
*our only criticism was once we had finished our cakes, we seen them bring out even more goodies that weren't there before but I suppose that can't be helped, they have to replenish their stock all the time.
AMAZING place and I will definitely be going back for more cake and to try the menu out myself.
Went to Mimi's on Sunday for an afternoon tea. The place was busy when we got there so next time I would probably go a lot later after lunch. For an afternoon tea I prefer a bit more chilled atmosphere and not making an effort actually speaking to people at the same table. That said the quality of the afternoon tea was great. I enjoyed the sandwiches and the scones. As for the sweeties, my favourite was a mini carrot cupcake and a mini pavlova. I had a coffee which was great. Overall, a beautiful cafe with wonderful decor and very high quality food. The service was a bit slow but this was due to the fact that the cafe was completely full so I can understand that. Will be definitely going back...maybe for the preafternoon tea which I've seen advertised on the wall and which looked great!
I had breakfast here recently, I went for the smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and toast. It was delicious! The eggs were perfect.
I've also had cupcake's from here to take away and they were really good.
I'd definitely visit here again and recommend to others!
First time here. It's always busy so finally I am checking the place out. Ordered cheese cake and latte. The cheesecake looks great with a 4.70 pound price tag, but it is just a bit too sweet for me. Other than that, I love the deco of the place.
I have been to Mimi’s a few times but this was a purposeful visit to try the before noon tea (like afternoon tea but with more breakfast items). I was really looking forward to this as I already know they do a mean French toast for breakfast and their cakes are out of this world.
The food comes on a cake stand and diners are offered a selection of teas. My friends went for tea but as someone who does not drink tea or coffee, I opted for a fruit juice. The cake stand consisted of lots (and I mean lots) of tasty treats. To start, we had small bacon rolls, with a choice of sauces. There was a generous portion of these, enough for two rolls each. The bacon has great flavour and it was an excellent start. We then moved onto their award winning cheese scones with a cream cheese and chive spread. The scones were of the mini variety and again we had two each. They were warm and soft – no doughy texture here. The cheese flavour was delicious and moreish. The spread was nice and light, which was a good thing as we still had plenty of other things to sample. We then moved onto the granola. There was a nice mix of seeds within the granola and the fruit was sweet without being sickly. It provided a nice transition from the savoury elements to the more sweet parts. Next we tucked into the cinnamon rolls which had the perfect balance of cinnamon and sweet topping. Our penultimate item was a mini pancake stack dusted generously with icing sugar. This seemed a little dry and might have worked better with a compote type filling to moisten the stack rather than the sticky dulce de leche filling. Lastly, the mini toffee muffin was a good bite sized treat to finish off with and disappeared in a couple of mouthfuls. It had a lovely depth of toffee flavour with a surprising toffee crunch on top.
Overall, the before noon tea was a delight. Surprisingly I enjoyed the savoury items more than the sweet but this is certainly this is an experience everyone should spoil themselves with.
Do you eat breakfast? I do. Every morning. I wake up hungry, so I look forward to breakfast and get very grumpy if I have to miss it. Last week, I didn’t miss it, but I had to postpone it. Instead of yogurt and cereal in bed, I got up, showered and took the bus to Leith. My destination was Mimi’s Bakehouse where I was to try Beforenoon Tea, a morning take on Afternoon Tea.
Afternoon tea is a pleasant indulgence. The tower of goodies, a mixture of sandwiches and dainties, is very appealing. There is – to me – something quintessentially British about sandwiches, cake and tea. Lashings and lashings of tea. The concept is both simple and luxurious. Historically, it’s an afternoon treat, a little something to help fight off hunger before dinner, but the afternoon is not the only time of day you might be hungry or in need of tea.
Mimi’s Bakehouse in Leith is already an institution for lovers of good baking. The cafe is busy, and it’s fun watching cakes and boxes of goodies go out the door. Now, they serve Beforenoon Tea: bacon rolls, cheese scones and a selection of breakfast-themed treats. I can’t think of a better reason to defer breakfast for an hour or so. We took our seats in plush pink armchairs, smiled at the list cake-lady wall paper, nodded approvingly at the slogan on the staff’s T-shirts It’s all about the cake, and put in our orders for tea and coffee. We didn’t have to wait long before breakfast arrived.
Layer one: floury bacon rolls
I hadn’t had a bacon butty before I came to Scotland. Yes, we eat bacon in Sweden, but in my mother’s household, bacon was not a roll or sandwich filling. It was something you had with eggs, or chopped and fried with potatoes and onions. It wasn’t a snack or breakfast food but dinner. Maybe that’s why I can be quite fussy about my bacon roll. The roll is very important to me. I don’t like flimsy cotton bread, but want something with a little body to it.
Mimi’s rolls were perfect. White but sturdy, with a chewy, floury crust which set off the salty, crispy bacon perfectly. If these are the only bacon rolls I have this year, that’s fine with me because I’d be hard pressed to have better.
C, my breakfast companion, doesn’t eat bacon, but luckily the veggie option – grilled cheese and tomato – was equally delicious.
Layer two: cheese scones
The first thing I ever had at Mimi’s was a cheese scone. It was very good and very large. (It was so large I ended up calling it lunch.) So I was excited seeing cheese scones on the Beforenoon Tea menu. I had two mini cheese scones, perfectly risen and golden, with glossy flecks of cheese and dark specks of chive in the crumb. They came with cream cheese and chives, a very nice accompaniment.
A piece of advice: pace yourself. There’s a lot of food to eat. You might want a second pot of tea at this point.
Layer three: the sweets
A pot of yogurt, compote and granola was my first step into the dainty side of Beforenoon Tea. It was gorgeous: crunchy, coconut-y granola over tangy yogurt with a lovely fresh blueberry compote. It also felt virtuous and was a superior version of the breakfast I have every morning.
As I ate my granola, I eyed the rest of the goodies, trying to decide what to have next. I went for the pancake stack. Three sweet and firm pancakes, with emphasis on the cake, sandwiched together with dulce de leche. Very nice indeed!
Another piece of advice: pick up the stack and eat it as it is. Deconstructing the layers lead to very sticky fingers.
Having cleaned my hands and rested for a little while, I was ready for the mini-muffin du jour. We were there on a raspberry and Nutella day. I like Nutella. I like raspberries. The two met happily in a moist muffin that was topped with a glistening smear of hazelnut spread. Yummy!
I finished Beforenoon Tea on a cinnamon note. An extremely well-glazed cinnamon swirl disappeared down my gullet with the last of my tea. It was rich, buttery and wonderfully sticky, reminding me of American cinnamon rolls. It was a very nice note to end on.
Amazing everytime!. Firstly, wow, chill out baristano1! My first review on Urbanspoon just because I found your review so random and if I am honest slightly abusive. Anyway!
I have moved abroad and every time I come home to Edinburgh Mimi's is top of my to do list as I love it so much! Everything from the staff to the food to the decor just hits the spot with me! Personal fav aero slice has me returning every time! Do you guys deliver internationally? : ) Cant wait to come home and Christmas and check out the new extension!
Well when I seen The Scottish Bakers Association had awarded Mimi's Bakehouse second runner up for the best bakery in Scotland I had to try it. I wasn't dissapointed. We were surprised to find Mimis did not only do cakes and offered a Menu packed with 'belly busting breakfasts and Lavish lunches' we went for fish cakes and French toast with maple syrup. The fish cakes were fantastic the french toast was Devine!! When i decided to add the canadian maple syrup to my french toast it sparked a debate with my wife whether my lunch was a sweet or savoury dish! The cake selection is fantastic a whole array of cake and tray baked which you can watch getting made in the open plan bakery. We decided to share a fresh cream pavlova and to get some cookie dough cupcakes to takeaway. I have to say I have Never in my 40 years tasted such an amazing cupcake! caramel sponge with a filled cookie dough centre and a light icing and decorated with cookie crumbs. Fantastic. I have to say what really makes this place is the staff you are really made to feel welcome when you arrive and the next time you are greeted like a friend! Brilliant I will be back!
I cannot understand the negative reviews contained within this website which are in stark contrast to everything I have heard and more importantly to my own experiences in Mimis.
Every time I have visited all aspects of the food on offer have been first class with a friendly, efficient and warm level of service. The scones are among the best I have ever tasted and the savoury food is extremely fresh and what is on offer changes daily.
I can only imagine that the poor reviews stem from competitors, jealousy or a combination of both.
This place is truly unique! It is not trying to be a patisserie style cafe, the cakes are original and taste like cake should taste- amazing! I was in yesterday and had the best battenburg cake ever! Something you very rarely get in a cake shop now. They also had just won various awards at the Scottish Bakers awards, which I'm sure can't be easy. Keep up the amazing work Mimi's, it must be so disheartening when people are not getting what you are about.
Absolutely devine food - their made to order birthday cakes are to die for! Definitely a guilty pleasure!
Gorgeous yummy food! French toast, crispy bacon and maple syrup best I've ever had! Loved it.
That was Braw!. I went to Mimi's for the first visit today -
and the title of my review says it all.
The wee man coming out as I went in - who smiled, patted his stomach and said to me'that was braw' got it absolutely right.
I had avoided a visit before Xmas because it was so busy and I couldn't see any free tables.
It was much quieter today - but with 5 tables occupied wasn't empty.
There is a lovely couch at the back - but we opted for one of the smaller bistro tables at the window, overlooking the Water of Leith so we could watch the world go by.
They were comfortable and we both felt quite relaxed.
That is very important to me when eating out.
I had wonderful mushroom and leek soup with the tastiest bread ever.
My partner opted for the black pudding roll - which was enormous and delicious. What more could you ask for?
The large submarine roll had been lightly toasted and was crispy on the outside but soft inside - and the black pudding was best quality and three very generous slices.
Tasty as everything was -
as we ate- we couldn't stop eyeing up all the cakes trying to pick one for afters.
They all looked so delicious and - traditional.
I mean that in the best sense of the word.
Nothing quite like a huge Victoria Sponge to tempt you -
although we didn't choose it this time (next time, though).
I had wonderful sticky and flavourful banana bread with butterscotch and nut topping - partner had the lemon cheesecake.
We of course tasted each other's cakes - and couldn't decide who had made the best choice. Both were fantastic.
The cakes taste like the best homemade ones (which they are) you would make if you were making them at home.
As the bus from my house stops right in front of Mimi's door - I will be back rather regularly I think...
A slice of heaven. Full review on www.edinburghspotlight.com
Their flyer says "open for scrumptious cakes, heavenly breakfasts, freshly ground coffees, lavish lnches and awe-inspiring afternoon tea" which pretty much sums this place up.
Before entering, I thought it would be a cake-based cafe, but it's so much more than that. You have to walk past a glass-stand full of cakes before you take a seat, but then there's the cakes at the counter that simply scream "eat me" as you sit down.
Having already eaten lunch before popping in, I only had room for tea and cake this visit. Had I known that I could have picked some luxury homemade stovies (£7.95) or Mimi's marvellous hotpot (£8.95) I would have eaten here.
We took a seat at the rear of the cafe on the luxurious couch and kick backed with the (free) papers and awaited our orders..
I opted for lemongrass tea, £1.95 (they do numerous choices of teapigs tea here) and my partner chose a flat white, also £1.95. The stars of Mimi's are no doubt the cakes, which are all lovingly made on the premises.
I chose a fruit scone with homemade preserve, butter and clotted cream, £1.95 and my friend chose a slab of strawberry pie and cream, £3.95.
My scone was warmed in the oven (not the microwave) and the strawberry pie was also served warm with the cream on the side. There was no other option but to dive in and the pie was nothing short of heavenly with pastry perfection. The scone had been perfectly baked, just like my granny used to make.
A lot of thought has gone into this place, from the cute utensil decorations on the walls to the personalised crockery. Run by a family (mum, dad, kids and extended family who work there) Mimi's has hit the nail on the head as a great cafe.
every little detail in the café was perfect, Mimi had clearly put a great deal of thought into the look and feel of the place.
Of late this blog mostly seems to have been about cake….OK OK, I hear you, it's been ALL about cake - so I thought I'd finish the 'ongoing theme' off nicely (for a while) with a review of Mimis Bakehouse , the new 'cake kid on the block' down in lovely sunny Leith. What better way to spend a lazy sunday afternoon than with a pot of tea or two……. a slice of cake (or two?) and a good old chinwag with the ladies? We sure know how to 'act ourselves' as the lovely lancashire lad Mr Predictable describes our leisurely (read 'cake chomping') activities…. I've now visited Mimis a couple of times with different cake-eating-partners and all have agreed that it's 'up there with the best of them' in terms of service (Mum, aka Mimi creating the cake masterpieces as well as other delectable delights, Dad and daughters working front of house), the quality of the baking (high on my agenda) and the value for money. A pot of tea and a slice of the finest Victoria sponge will set you back around
Perfect Sunday afternoon with my best friend here at Mimi's???? We ordered afternoon tea between the 2 of us and so glad we did because it was plenty for us both!
There was no plan to come here, in fact it was more of a surprise! We just turned up and am so glad we did! We were taken to our table for 2 by a friendly member of staff who also gave us our menus. We opted for afternoon tea because well why not ???? The mini cakes, sandwiches and omg the scone...were all so fabulous and delicious! I do have a soft spot for scone with jam and cream but was taken by a sweet surprise when I tasted the coconut mixed with the jam, hellooo there!????
Overall a cute lovely cafe with a great view! Ocean Terminal shopping centre also is not that far away( we both walked there) so shopping there would round of a great day! X
Mimi's is a pretty pastel cafe by The Shore in Leith offering breakfast, brunch, lunch and afternoon tea.
The food is excellent with massive, sugary tray bakes, huge traditional breakfasts (though sadly no Lorne), tasty French toast and a cracking range of stovies.
I sometimes find the cake too sweet for my taste but thankfully you can take home your leftovers in a pretty pastel box.
I think the service has massively improved over the last year, as it seems there are no more waiting staff meaning you get served a lot quicker than I have experienced in the past.
I'd certainly recommend booking in for an afternoon tea using the effective online booking system but possibly make no plans to eat anything else that day!
Mimi’s Bakehouse is a fantastic place for brunch, lunch and afternoon tea. It has fantastic home baking and lots of choices on all of their menus.
Their afternoon tea is splendid and very affordable at about £14.50 per person. You get a selection of sandwiches including egg and chive, gammon and smoked salmon but if you don’t like one of the fillings they will be happy to swap it for you. It also comes with a selection of cakes and fresh scones. You can also choose which kind of tea you would like to have with you delicious treats.
For brunch my favourite brunch is French toast with banana and salted caramel – this is delicious and very sweet! It’s also very reasonable at about £7.
I love this place and with great prices and friendly staff I’ll definitely be back.
I don't rate above 4 but Mimis deserve 4.5! Favourite coffee and cake place! Three main reasons 1- best cakes in Edinburgh 2- the chic vintage decor 3- Mimi's bakehouse inspired my first ever blog post!
I love this place! Perfect place to go for a catchup with my wee blogging buddy Shakira Rahman before heading to a beauty event. Got myself a jasmine Pearl tea which smelled AMAZING! And a chocolate coconut cupcake, I thought I'd try something different than my favourite red velvet. Shakira got Quesadillas which looked delicious! Highlight recommended and free time parking :D
One of my favourite places in Edinburgh. The decor inside is really fun and quirky. The cakes are just do die for and the food is really tasty. Highly recommended the French toast with bacon. They also do gluten free options which is fantastic.
This place is so cute! And you get food as well as cakes!! They have an awesome range of cakes and teas. I decided to get this fajita looking thing [no idea what it's called] it tasted great it came along side nachos. It most definitely filled me up! I went with my blogger buddy whom got a wee chocolate and coconut cake and a Jasmin tea Sultana Malik Defo enjoyed hers!
Mimi's lives up to everything you expect and more. It is full of tasty cakes, cup cakes and lovely food. Each time I visit it's hard not to have a cake there and then take one for home.
The times that we have been we have tried their sandwiches, french toast with bacon and far too many of their cakes. Everytime it tasty and we leave feeling like we've had far too much to eat and hyper on the amount of sugar we have just consumed. It's an excellent spot for Sunday brunch, although I would advise booking a table as it fills up very quickly!
A very family-friendly cafe offering delicious cakes and treats; I recommend their pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, their red velvet cake, or just a yummy scone with all the cream and jam you can eat. The staff are great and are very used to adding extra chairs, moving things for buggies and will add a little candle I too of a cupcake for birthday celebrations.
I came to Mimi's bakehouse because it had been strongly recommended to me by a few people.
It lived up to the hype, with their extensive range of creative baked goods and extensive drinks menu I found it difficult to choose just one thing. In the end, upon my lovely waitresses recommendation, I opted for a slice of the red velvet cake and a 'luxury hot chocolate' both were exquisite. The red velvet cake was moist and the frosting plentiful while the hot chocolate came was the closest a hot chocolate has ever been to luxurious, adorned with a mountain of whipped cream and plenty of marshmallows on the side.
If I had a faster metabolism and bikini season wasn't round the corner I would be a Mimi's bakehouse regular.

I went to Mimi's Bakehouse for several tea times and cakes. The place is really cosy and it's a place where you want to go with your friends and family. You will always feel good. The design of the place is really original with sugary colours.
- The cakes I have tried so far were all delicious and I have to say that my favourite is the Oreo cake.
- Tea times are great and huge! But the good thing is that you don't have to prepare diner afterward and if you have to much cakes and sandwiches, you can ask to take them home. The regular teatime is always great but I was a little disappointed by the Christmas Tea Time which was more expensive (£17,5 for the Christmas/£14,5 for the Classic) and some of the items were not up to what they usually do.
- They offer all kind of coffees and teas. I am a tea drinker and I appreciate that they offer Tea Pig teas.
Overall a great experience! Don't forget to book your table if you want to try their cakes during the weekend!
We visited Mimi's for a couple of cakes to take home, whilst waiting for the cakes to be boxed up I took a little look around, every little detail in the café was perfect, Mimi had clearly put a great deal of thought into the look and feel of the place. There were also a few non edible items for sale, these would no doubt make perfect gifts for any baking enthusiast. Even the box for our cakes was cool, a really unusual design that tied in nicely with the cafe’s decor.
After what seemed like a lifetime to get home and tuck in we found that there was a slight mix up with our order, whilst the cheesecake was present we’d been given the wrong chocolate cake (no red velvet with white chocolate frosting, just plain milk chocolate). This was disappointing as we had made it clear which chocolate cake we wanted when ordering, we got over this mild frustration soon after our first taste of the cheesecake…
It was amazing, so smooth, not too rich and a buttery biscuit base that would satisfy even Gregg Wallace. Whilst the chocolate cake was tasty and incredibly moist it just couldn’t live up to the standard of the cheesecake. I’ve eaten my fair share cheesecakes in my time and can say without a doubt that this is the best.
At first the price seemed a bit steep, it was around £8 for the two slices, however the portions were very generously sized.
Mimi’s motto is “it’s all about the cake!” and with cake this good you don’t need anything else.

Excellent location near the Shore. Easy access by bus, 16/35 stops right in front. Breakfast chips are amazing. The breakfast sandwich had a copious amount of ooey gooey cheese. Scones are the size of my hand with smooth cream.

Such a lovely place to have a break from everything. We just have a flat white, cappuccino and scottish Rocky Road, but the feeling of this place is superb. Lovely service, variety of items to choose from and the location.
Keep it up. Great place, check yourself.
Went for Halloween tea! Savory treats were amazing!
Breakfast at Mimi's which was superb.
Service and food was excellent. This is the fourth time we have been to Mimi's and it gets better with each visit.
Lovely place, very good sandwiches (tried the one with Milano salami) as well as good cakes and scones. I was expecting a little bit more for the cake and the coffees but overall a great place to have a brunch or a scone!
Lovely stay in this bakery. I remember being here 9 years prior for my first visit to Edinburgh. It was a pleasure to come back again for the second, it was just as delicious as I had remembered. Would strongly recommend their Mimi’s Scottish Blend and Oreo cupcakes, but honestly, any pick will be beyond your expectations. It was lovely to stop here after our walk toward Lieth, alongside the Water Lieth.
Visited Mimi’s at Leith this morning, the avocado toast was phenomenal! The cafè looked very clean and with really nice decor.
The hostess at the door was so nice with us and took the time to go over the cakes they sell.
The service was also impeccable, the blonde waitress was polite and helpful.
The coffee was very good too and the barista was nice and chatty.
Thank’s Mimi’s for the positive experience!
First class food and service, not surprised they have won so many awards. We visited on a Friday lunchtime, looked like a mother and toddler group had turned out so it a bit loud!! Highly recommended. Visited a couple of times since, still good. Table booking via website recommended at busy times, weekends etc.. No designated parking.
So worth the drive from the center. The scones are delicious! Make sure to ask for the scones since they are not on the menu(found the place in a few top scones places for Edinburgh). The clotted cream and jam are delicious and all together is just so so yummy! Also, the place is really pretty and the staff is friendly!
Booked online for 1 o’clock but they managed to squeeze us in earlier at 11 which was nice. Probably the best scones we have ever tasted with fresh jam and clotted cream. Also the poached egg with salmon was lovely as the salmon tasted really fresh. The cafe was all social distanced and the staff wore plastic face coverings and gloves. Felt very safe.
I went here with my mum and got some afternoon tea.Cakes are delicious ,so were the sandwiches. Cosy atmosphere. Staff are very friendly .Nice location down at the shore
A great find in Leith, great atmosphere, fab staff and food fantastic. First time having a pumpkin spiced scone, delicious.
Many awards won for cakes etc. A must if in the area.
We had the afternoon tea at Mimi's bakehouse. The sweets and sandwiches were delicious. The only downside here is the interior, of cause it depends on personal taste as well, but we had the impression that it is not really taken care of. There are spots on the chairs and sofas and our table was a bit damaged. Maybe we are a bit picky but unfortunatley it was on of the first things we saw. But due to the good reputations we wanted to give it a try...
We ordered a wedding cake from Mimi's Bakehouse for our wedding in Dunfermline. They could not have done a better job, the cake was beautiful and absolutely delicious! They were so helpful and communicative throughout the entire process. We were even able to taste all the cake flavours at home as cup cakes before choosing what we wanted. Thank you so much Mimi's, can't recommend highly enough.
Soup was lovely, if a little spicy for me personally. Scones were lovely and the cakes looked divine! Staff were extremely helpful too.
