If you want to get a nice Indian food taste then go for the Indian thalis. We ordered veg, chicken and lamb thali. The taste and quantity was perfect. My only suggestion for them is to improve the service and add a little bit of professionalism in their nature.
My ratings:
Food: 5/5
Service: 3/5
Ambiance: 4/5
Price: 5/5 (fully worth)
On a rainy evening in Edinburgh, my friend's & myself stumbled upon this place, searching to eat some hot, spicy Indian food, after being drenched wet from the cold rain. Starting off with Lamb soup, it warmed me up with its delicious spicy taste. Proceeded to order some Sherpa's checha, Garlic Naan & murgh malai. Food was tasteful prepared & served swiftly.
Good food, reasonable prices and welcoming staff; not crowded even on a Sunday night too. Easily accessible as it’s within walking distance from the heart of Edinburgh (Waverley). Would highly recommend for good Indian and Nepalese food!!
Good ambience... Welcoming people.. if I have to suggest then you should try the Lamb soup it's amazing... Overall I loved the place and food from the starters to the main course was good to try...
While walking towards the Edinburgh Castle, we came across this calm and beautiful decorated restaurant, named " Namaste Kathmandu " .
It specialised in Nepalese dishes, but we still got some really delicious Indian food too .
It's a beautiful themed family restaurant. There's only one staff to take order , who is very polite and courteous.
Coming to the food , we ordered chicken tikka masala namaste special meal , tandoori chicken, chicken Momos, Prawn Malabari with some kulcha . The Special Meal was enough for 2 person . Chicken Momos were below average, which I was expecting it to be good as it was a Nepalese restaurant. Chicken tikka Masala was delicious and prawn malabari was very soft and properly cooked . Hence delicious..
Overall, I loved the place . The only thing which I didn't liked was there chicken Momos and there way to washroom. You literally have to go a floor down to wash your hands .
Despite restaurant is centrally located but we need to give effort to find this restaurant. We ordered veg and non veg foods and both were awesome. Chicken biryani was not up to mark but tandoori chicken is superb in non veg starter. Malai kofta is must try in veg curry. Garlic naan is best among all breads. Staffs are really friendly and food delivery time as well is less.
Overall it was really good experience and you should must try this restaurant once. I have attached few snaps. Last but not least don't miss to try there mint sauce.
We stopped here for an impromptu dinner. I have passed here many a time but never been in so we finally took the opportunity when it arose. We were met by friendly and welcoming staff and were seated. There was a nice choice on the menus, with it being broken down into Nepalese, Indian and Seafood and there is a decent vegetarian offering in both the Nepalese and Indian cuisines. We went for the standard poppadoms and pickle tray as a starter (I was wise and knew we would fill up on these and having a starter too would be risky). I then picked chicken acharai for my main and my dining partner went for chicken rogan josh . We had a choice of heat levels for these curries so I went for medium and my friend went for hot. We both went for an additional garlic naan.
Despite its very central location, this indian-nepalese restaurant falls far from the tourist trap. Seriously delicious curries and other kind of dishes freshly made and full of flavour and taste. Although their momos are not my fave (gotta love the ones from Yak and Yeti), they were pretty good... But if you want to make a safe bet, try any of their curries and you will be amazed.
I had a superb meal here tonight, the chilli garlic lamb was melt in the mouth gorgeous and the dumpling starters are a wee bit different but oh so tasty.
This is our favourite Nepalese and Indian restaurant. They do both incredibly well, tonights meal (Karahi) was particularly tastey the naan bread was perfect!
Excellent curry house. We had fantastic meal at Namaster Kathmundu. Excellent service and food fantastic as always. Good choice of veg and gluteen free food. This is becoming a regular eating place for us.
I had the best Samosa Chaat.
Veg momos were good too. Then on the same day I had dinner and enjoyed that as well.
Glad I stopped by.
Highly recommended place if you want to taste Indian food with food quality at a reasonable price.❤️❤️
I loved the place and food, Ordered Veg and Chicken Thali ,it was awesome...If ever I come to Edinburgh in future or recommend someone ,it is definitely going to be this.
The food is really delicious. The portions could be even smaller for me but I understand for some they might be perfect. The waitress was really nice, she helped with choosing dishes. We took mo-mo dumplings and lamb (don’t remember the exact name). I took medium spiciness and it was okay, my friend took mild and you couldn’t fell a lot of spices. The prices could be a bit smaller but we totally get it’s lab so meat is not cheap - but for tourist from poor country can be a bit expensive there. For mo-mo, 2 lamb dishes, 2 naan bread portions and 2 lemonades we paid almost £45.
One of the best Nepalese Indian restaurants in the heart of Edinburgh near Edinburgh Museum. Variety of vegetarian options available with delicious taste and quality. Very humble and polite staff.
Great location, right beside the bus stop. Perfect if you're in the mood for Indian food which is not too spicy and a place which has a lot of options. Fantastic service as well
Descent Indian food at good price.
Find the staff to be very welcoming and friendly. the Overall taste is good (few items excellent, example navratan korma) Vs few items doesn't give authentic taste (like daal makhni). I really liked sweet lassi as well.
Service is ok. I was thinking between 3 or 4 star but ended with 4 as the price is reasonable for what you get. Overall good option.
Never had Nepalese food before and really glad I now have. We had mo-mo, a lamb curry, a veg curry and some dal. It was all delicious. More savoury than Indian curry and less cream. At least in the dishes we tried. The mo-mo are particularly great if you like gyoza or similar. Staff were friendly, restaurant is unfussy and prices are good. Highly recommend.
The restaurant was lovely and clean. The staff were friendly and polite. We visited the restaurant twice, both times very enjoyable experience. The food was on point!😀
Amazing food and fantastic service right in the centre of Edinburgh. Great choice of Indian or Nepalese menu with great vegetarian choices
Friendly attentive staff, photos speak for themselves!
Delicious food, from the starter to the main course. We didn't had any place for desert but, everything we had was superb. Very friendly staff and beautiful atmosphere. We got recommendation from our Marriott Inn and was very happy. Thank you guys and great chef.
We visited Namaste Kathmandu at the request of a travel recommendation on Instagram. Absolutely loved it ❤️ Food was authentic and could enjoy the true flavours of every single dish served. Will definitely recommend to anyone travelling to Edinburgh, UK. Appreciated the great staff and perfect atmosphere, it certainly set the tone for the restaurant. Nepalese and Indian cuisine, under one roof, at its best.
Amazing food and pretty fast service! We ate it all so fast! Only complaint was that the music was some 60 second-ish track that kept repeating itself the entire 45mins we were there and it got quite annoying.
