Cool place to hangout the royal McGregor had been their with my friends tried their food. In starter we tried goat cheese and grilled pepper salad, bacon cheese burger is also too yumm and delicious, and in dessert chocolate brownie was mind-blowing and fantabulous
Had to come back to this lovely whisky bar during my stay in Edinburgh. Once again the food was great and the staff could have not been more friendly... this is becoming one of my favourite spot in the city! ... specially for the Haggis
Good place to have quick grabs of the food at early as possible and as tastiest as possible. The place has really good sitting arrangements and salads are really fantabulous.
Food here was excellent and service was friendly and accommodating (Linda was a great server!). Prices were just right and you get plenty of food. Chicken stuffed with haggis was awesome, and my friend had the haggis tower which was fantastic as well. Great place to stop and eat while strolling the Royal Mile.
A relative newcomer to Edinburgh’s Old Town dining scene, The Royal McGregor is a whisky bar and restaurant set along the Royal Mile. The offering here is traditional Scottish cuisine supported by local indie beers and a lengthy list of whiskies served with friendly appreciation to a mostly tourists clientele.
Happened in around lunchtime. Got the steak & onion panini. Delicious! Staff was very friendly. Warm and cozy atmosphere. Would definitely recommend!

The place was suggested to us by one of the locals. Its a small place, not to crowded with a lovely warm ambiance.
I wanted to try a local ale or cider and the waitress was very well informed about the varieties they had. Extremely helpful for someone who is visiting the city for the first time.
For starters we ordered the Pork Ribs which were just divine. It could have been a bit more meaty but the taste was super with just the right amount of saucy-ness !
We decided to share a main between the two of and ordered the Crofter's Chicken, not wanting to dive head first into the haggis. It was fabulous! For a first timer trying Haggis its just the perfect dish because you get to taste the meat - which is absolutely delicious by the way, and you have the chicken as your safety net! The two are combined beautifully with neither overpowering the taste of the other served with a lovely lite cheesy sauce.
Our folks on the other table did order Haggis, which is not just a treat to the eyes but also to the taste buds.
The service is prompt, the servers perpetually smiling and extremely helpful.
It's very reasonably priced as well, as opposed to most of the places along the road.
Had a lovely experience. I'll definitely go back here if i visit again.
We entered this place because it seemed more open and welcoming and less crowded that others in the vicinity.
After ordering a Dalmore 15 at the bar we perused the menu, and found they had some interesting Single malt sampling sets.
We moved to a table and ordered the Speyside Flight which was made up of - Macallan 10, Cragganmore 12, Benromach 10, and Strathisla 12.
Now having built up an appetite we ordered the Haggis, neeps, and tatties, which was a perfect meal under the circumstances. It was well presented in layers and was delicious.
We next ordered the Queen Islay which consisted of - Smokehead 10, c.c.Caol Ila, Bruichladdic 10, and Laphroaig 10.
Having sampled to our hearts content, we left the place happy, satisfied and with an elevated blood alcohol content. Hic !
Great pub with one of the best Haggis in Edinburgh. A bit small, that's cozy but 4 people with food don't really fit at the table for 4.
