Good food great pub
Have visited a few time for drink and always loved the ambiance and the staff are lovely. Are here for the first time and wasn’t disappointed. The whitebait was very well cooked along with the Asian slaw with my prawns. The pie was tasty and the mash looked amazing I wasn’t allow to try that. I had total comfort food of mac and cheese. Will be back to sample other areas of the menu. That’s for great food.
Brilliant traditional Scottish bar with great beer and tasty food! Live music on Sundays, children welcome, dog friendly. Lovely fireplace in the winter, great customer service. An all round superb place.
What a great place to grab some pub fare and a drink. Not a very extensive whisky menu, but good beer and wine. Food was great. Haggis bon bons and Camembert were fantastic! We will be back for music and/or quiz night.
Fantastic bar . Helpful and friendly staff with a nice selection of drinks.
Staff were friendly upon approach . They have dog treats and water for the dogs as well which is a huge plus .
Convenient location and child friendly for food service.
Nicely poured drinks with a quiet atmosphere .
A beautiful interior with lovely booths /stools and seating areas make this dog friendly bar a complete muse see when visiting Edinburgh or if you’re a local get yourself down here for a quick one.
Tremendous place to visit.
Amazing bar! Kids are allowed. The atmosphere is cozy because of the dim lighting. The food is delicious the best macaroni and cheese I’ve ever eaten. The chips are also very delicious!! The best pub I’ve ever been in!
A lovely bar! We went for the pub quiz and it was brilliant. Staff were friendly, the bar was clean, there was a fire and the décor is lovely.
A good and calm vibe.
Drinks are a bit expensive and drinks need to be poured a bit better -amounts are meagre. For example, a Malibu and coke (small glass) are poured half-full with coke-on-tap.
This is why it's a 4 star review not 5
Great atmosphere and food. Good drinks - if it’s not on the menu they won’t make it however. Heard some great live music here too
Cozy Pub with super service and great food.
We got 2 different bar snack scottish eggs and pork belly.
For the main course I got Steak Ale Pie with mash, it tasted really good
We were looking for an “original” Scottish pub experience, and stumbled upon this cozy place. Definitely worth a recommendation, super cozy surroundings with delicious food, and good service. The food is for the whole family we even had children with us.
This used to be a regular haunt for us after work years ago. i visited it on Friday with a few colleagues, first time in about 20 years, it's still brilliant. A great buzz in there, always welcoming.
Nice bar & friendly staff. Enjoyed the barony beer. We had mushroom arancini & the haggis balls. The arancini was great. The haggis balls were okay, friend really like them but I wasn’t really as keen. Thought they looked much better than they tasted.
The best Sunday pub lunch I’ve had in Edinburgh! Every element was delicious and the selection was excellent.
From 3pm on Sunday they have live music which is a lovely background to the meal too, not too disruptive.
The only reason I dropped a star is because as we were first into the bar, it had a clear Saturday night bar clean up smell which wasn’t nice. Helped when more people came in.
The atmosphere was great with a got mix of people and ages. I had the Korean Sesame Chicken burger. It was tasty enough but slightly overcooked enough to be on the dry side.
The gents toilet could challenge for the smallest in Edinburgh.
There was some good live music on the night we were in. The only downside was that the music drowned out any conversation.
This is a great place if you're looking for a decent drink and a nice menu
Awesome place, great atmosphere. The Food is really good and we enjoyed our evening there. Monday is Quiz night which is really fun. I hope to get back there during my next visit.
I used to drink here in the 80s and I hadn't been back in a while. It was a Wednesday evening and it was packed! The place was pretty buzzing with lots of interesting types. I could see people eating, but we just went for a quick drink. Decent selection, but the Schiehallion had just gone off. I had a Guinness instead.
Food was great and the drinks too. Service was fine, the pub has a nice atmosphere. Enjoyable all around!
