Haggis on a pizza!?!? Don’t knock till you’ve tried it. And if you’re trying it in Edinburgh, head to Dough Pizza for the especially tasty and haggis-enhanced Scozia pizza. This isn’t the first time I’ve mentioned Dough on the blog. But, I thought the friendly little New Town pizzeria deserved a mention in my Haggis Hunt series. Back in the autumn when I was last in Edinburgh, I was so pleased to have happened upon Dough’s Rose Street outlet and had its wood-fire bked pizza made with seawater dough. The Scozia (handmade passata, fior di latte, Mcsweens Haggis, Stornaway Black Pudding, smoked pancetta, topped with a cracked egg, £13.95 for a 15” pie) kinda blew my pizza-loving mind.

Pizza is basically a hot circular open sandwich. Now that you’re up to speed on the nature of the dish let us dive in and take a slice of one of Edinburgh’s best hot circular open sandwiches (spoiler alert). We entered Dough when the rain was falling and hunger was rising. The idea was to enjoy a wee slice, wait for the rain to pass and then head off somewhere else for additional sustenance. All this changed when we saw the selection on offer behind the counter. A whole half-and-half pizza was our only option, suddenly our wee slice had gone full circle.

I’d visited Dough back during the Festival and been impressed with their large, well-crafted pizzas. I’ve popped in a couple of times since then, sometimes for a quick slice, other times for a full pie. I’ve been pleased on all occasions, but feel I haven’t quite found the killer dish on their menu.

On a constant quest to find great places for lunch in the New Town, I was delighted to read about a new place that has recently appeared on the Edinburgh pizzeria scene: Dough on Rose Street. Now, you could argue that pizzas in Edinburgh are pretty much sorted, with the likes of La Favorita and Origano taking care of that front very nicely, thank you very much. But, having tried this place a couple of times now, I believe that Dough really could become a legitimate competitor to these old Edinburgh favourites.

Pizza was ready in 5 mins. The tastiest pizza I've had in the UK and the best hospitality. Thanks for the tea and the chat! If you’re ever in Edinburgh grab a pizza from Dough in Rose Street. You won’t regret it.

The pizza was ready quickly and was great. We had pepperoni with Italian sausage. True Neapolitan pizza with San Marzano tomatoes. Also the owner is a cheerful guy with a great sense of humor. Really glad we decided to go to Dough Pizza.

Great pizza! As the name suggests, the dough was really good, thin in the center, and fluffy at the outside. I got a half and half pizza and ate in the restaurant. There is not much space indoors, but we talked with the owner who is very nice! I would absolitely recommend this place!

Best Pizza place in Edinburgh. Go in, don't get a delivery, as lukewarm pizza is not good. It must come hot from the oven and is wonderfully delicious. The chefs are friendly and good to talk to and enthusiastic about their craft.

This is my first review I've ever left and it's for a good reason. This pizza might have been one of the best I've had. But, while I was sitting in the restaurant, I was admiring the owner, who offered to deliver a pizza personally to a customer when their delivery driver picked up the wrong order. He was telling me that he got a 1 star review the other day because a delivery driver delivered a hamburger to a customer instead of one of his pizzas. Not fair to him, but if I was supposed to get a pizza from him and I didn't I might be upset too. Thanks for the unbelievable meal given to somebody that was just visiting, but if I'm in Edinburgh and want pizza again, I know where I'm coming. 6/5

Nice little shop with some seating indoors and out, quite a bit of variation on the menu including multiple vegan options and some nice sides as well. We got some mushroom arincini and a vegan parmigiana, getting the food was really fast and we sat outside to eat and it was quite a chilled atmosphere and great way to end the day.

Legit Neopolitan wood fired style pizza. Absolutely delicious. Not a single reason to complain. Mainly take out, but a few seats available in & out.

This place was amazing! The dough was perfect- it had just the right amount of bite to it, and was perfectly chewy. The staff and the atmosphere tied a bow on the experience altogether. You should eat here.
