Reviews Henrick's Bar

A welcoming atmosphere, friendly but not intrusive service, and an excellent pre-theatre menu with a good selection of dishes. We chose the ‘starter and main’ version but you could do main + pudding or even, as one couple near us did, starter + pudding. The skink was so good I wished it had been available as a main course [hint hint] and the stroganoff and fish and chips were both delicious. The wine was excellent, too! Henrick’s is just up the hill from the King’s theatre, which makes it an ideal place to eat before a show: but it would also be a good place to have a leisurely meal - and there’s a very good selection of single malts with which to finish your meal...

I have to give 5 stars, we happened to stop in on our way back to the hotel, we needed something close and family friendly, we were just praying the food was decent, and we were blown away! Absolutely delicious food, incredible service. Do yourself a favour, choose this place for dinner, get the haggis bonbons, finish off with the rhubarb crumble, enjoy an evening here because we certainly did. We’re told it’s recently under new management, the new owners are doing a fantastic job.

This is a nice restaurant. Some of the tables are a little squished in and it makes it uncomfortable when you’re basically on top of each other. The food is good, haggis balls are delicious. The portion size is also pretty decent. They do a good pre-theatre dinner menu but be careful on timings - last time we had to cancel our desserts as we ran out of time due to the wait. Book in advance to make sure you’re sorted.

The food is lovely and very reasonably priced but what I really appreciated was the extra effort the staff put in to assist a wheelchair user in our party. The restaurant was easy to access and the disabled toilet was easily accessible. Well done guys, we always enjoy our time there

Family of 8 went for meal for my birthday. Food and wine lovely. Good choice of drinks at bar. Choice of pre theatre or main menu. Staff really friendly and helpful. Owner Chris was talking to all the customers coming in. Very welcoming. Also has disabled access with no stairs to negotiate.

Visiting from the states and thought everything was excellent. Clearly the kitchen knows what they’re doing along with the wait staff. Things very fairly priced given the quality. Closer to fine dining than “pub grub” as the name might imply.

Despite many years living in central Edinburgh I'd never been here until visiting relatives booked dinner here. Great dinner options including good value pre theatre menu. Great drink options and the wine tastings sounded tempting! Lovely staff and would return.

Very chilled and welcoming. It's great to head here for a drink after having dinner at The Apartment next door. It has a strong Scottish theme running through their menus, which is always great, especially being in the capital city!

Amazing food and service. Very cosy atmosphere. We were able to have dinner there late on Saturday (just before 10pm) which was very handy and was a nice surprise.

A great find. We had the pre-theatre menu and the place was buzzing. Despite this, we got served very quickly by the attentive staff. We were able to try the latest beer on tap. Can recommend the haggis bon bons (stuffed with brie) to start. Delicious lightly beer-battered fish, with decent enough chips for the main.

Got the 2 courses for £12.95. Excellent food, smaller portions than normal I guess as it is a set price menu. However, I would definitely go back and try the full menu.

Great food and great staff! When we told the waiter we were from out of town he made some amazing suggestions on what to see and do. If your traveling thru Edinburgh I definitely recommend stopping here!

A very popular bar come restaurant out of the centre of Edinburgh, worth the taxis journey for the great selection of gins and whiskeys. A very small bar so if you want food it may worth booking in advance. Food is the normal run of the mill pub grub but not bad for that.

Great new owners. Jamie has made great advances after taking ownership and Ross is a great Head Chef. Don't pass them by without giving them a try.

Without doubt the nicest bar in edinburgh. family owned and friendly staff. I struggle to find any issues with it. Henricks hosts a wine soceity on the first monday of every month. amazing , and words cant describe the value for money of the food and the fine wines
