great food, minimalistic packaging (aluminum foil), long queue, crowded shop. Slightly disappointed but the food was excellent, really really good.
Big portion of pork sandwich. You could choose white or brown bread, then several types of sauces. The meat was tender and heaps. One portion is good to share while walking around the Canongate, Royal Miles.
We went here a few times during our vacation because the pork sandwiches were so very good! I opted for sage and onion with apple on my sandwich(I got the small size). All 3 times. My husband got sage and onion w mustard/mayo all 3 times (large sandwich). Beware...Once they run out of meat that’s it. First time we got there about 5pm on a Wednesday, they were out of meat. The other 2 times it was about 4:30pm and almost out of meat. They close at 6pm.
We stopped to this unusual quickbite shop Oink. They serve shredded pork in a bun. The service was not that friendly because the server who attended to us didn't answered all we asked and only answered "it's a matter of personal preference". Yet the food was great and tasty.

I have visited Oink Edinburgh a few times since it has opened so when my partner visited from America, I just had to let her experience this little gem. We went for a walk around Arthur Seat so by the time we reached Oink near the Parliament, we were starving! I had the biggest of rolls they had to offer with apple sauce and haggis, on wholemeal bread, just to be healthy of course and a bottle of Bundaberg ginger beer.
The Oink on Victoria Street is, as I said in my last review of that location, the big hog of the hogroast kingdom of Edinburgh. The Cannongate location is great new venture for Oink, and it brings a delicious quick lunch choice to the Holyrood area!
Although the location is small, it has more seating than the original location on Victoria Street. It has the hog roast in one window and a great big table by the other window, and fresh new decor. My oink sandwich with crackling, sage and onion stuffing and apple chutney was delicious as always. The staff are super friendly and welcoming, too. As always with Oink, when the hog roast is gone it's gone for the day! I'm thrilled to see they have this new convenient location and the same great food as the other location.
Perfect dog friendly quick bite!
Just we were looking for!
They were really helpful and friendly!
Our two Cockapoos also really enjoyed the meet! Lasted few seconds already! 😊
We will be back once in Edinburgh again!
Had seen this recommended a few times by bloggers and it didn't disappoint.
Simply a hog-roast bun with different sauces and stuffing options. The pork could have been more flavoursome, but with the addition of the sage and onion stuffing and apple sauce, was fine.
Portion size was also fair. The shortbread was a particular highlight.
This branch was quite spacious and convenient for a quick lunch at the end of the royal mile.
Tasty pull pork sandwich and lunch box. A great place for quick and simple lunch if you are at the Old Town area. The pork is tender and not oily. Staff is helpful and friendly.
We, a group of 10 people, dropped by at a busy time of the day and expected a long waiting time but that wasn't the case. The service was quick, the staff was really nice, helpful, and the food was amazing for a "fast-food" chain. Was better than what I expected. The pork, which is the star of the show, was tender and tasty.
What's not to love? The meat is juicy and plentiful. Choice of extras (stuffing and sauce) is tough because there are so many great options.
Absolutely loved it. There isnt much variety to choose from. Its only pulled roast pork. But what they have is amazing.
Adding to that the prices are very reasonable. Would definitely go there again when i visit Edinburgh
We recently bought a leg of pork for friends and family coming around instead of the usual bbq. Arrived at the shop and served promptly by pleasant and polite staff. The advice on the website states it feeds up to 25. It feeds way more than that. It was amazing. Lovely pork with gravy, apple sauce and stuffing. Rolls provided too. Everybody loved it. Great staff great food great value. Definitely doing this again.
I visited Oink Cannongate during my trip to Edinburgh and was impressed by the quality of the food. The shredded pulled pork in a bun was delicious and flavorful, and the variety of toppings and sauces available allowed for a truly customized sandwich. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant had a great atmosphere. I do wish there were more vegetarian options available on the menu, but overall I would definitely recommend Oink Cannongate for anyone looking for a tasty pork sandwich in Edinburgh. However, I gave it a 4 star as the Hot Chocolate I ordered had a bit too much milk in it.
It's worth the hype!!! They only have a couple of tables, so you can grab something for take away, or if you are a bit patience, just wait a bit cause people have a quick bite and they leave. You get different rolls sizes and you can choose your stuffing and your sauce. I definetely recommend the apple and the mustard mayo ones! Pork is so tender and full of flavor. They serve you super quick, so it's perfect if you just want to get something fast but good quality. Although it is a quick meal, I recommend to take your time and enjoy every bite! We went there on our first day on Edinburgh, as we wanted something small and fast, and we decided to come back the last day to have lunch before our flight. Good for the price as well. You must visit this or any of the other places they have if you are in Edinburgh!!
Old restaurant specialised in pulled pork Burger. Its soo good I have to admit. Highly recommended for visitors who want something of a differences in Edinburgh. So good.
This was the best thing I had in Edinburgh… so happy we stumbled across this on our way from Holyrood Palace. The pork was so good, the crackling yummy and omg the sauces. I had the sage stuffing with apples and the mustard sauce (which by the way is so creamy and not a strong mustard taste) but that combo!!! So delicious. I also got a side of the chili cheese sauce and used that to dip my crackling in and that was amazingly delicious!! I will say I love spice and this had a bit of a kick to it!! I highly recommend this place and will definitely make it a place to eat on any future visits to Edinburgh. The ladies working were also so sweet and helpful.
Had a pulled pork roll, which was delicious. It definitely set us up for our walk-up Arthur's Seat.
Would definitely recommend.
Tasty pulledpork with different options, for the next time I would opt for the onion and sage instead of the haggis. Can be very crowded but this is speaking for their food.
Best pork bap I've ever tasted! Meat so tender, moist and flavourful! Definitely worth a visit if in the area! Not one to be missed!
Amazing hog roast sandwich and a beer. Only minor downside is too few table inside for you to sit and eat at. Which is in no fault of the owners it's just down to space available.
The food was delicious and pork in particular was amazing. However, I was missing some vege in the sandwitch ( personal preference ), the small roll was ridiculously small ( I would be ashaped to serve this size to my friends at gome ) and the prices are steep. But if you fancy a nice pork experience - this will not disappoint.
Without doubt, the best pork roll I have ever eaten. The meat was tender, crackling crispy and the roll soft. The staff were very helpful too, having failed to notice the meal deal, they allowed us to add it afterwards. Recommended 😁
Delicious roll (perfect texture and sturdy enough to support the innards), the pork is very flavourful and the additions of stuffing and sauce excellent. Crackling on the side was incredible. The "Oink" is the perfect sweetspot for size too.
The chilli jam is highly recommended sauce option.
