Fabulous food! Every shop says they have the “best Haggis.” By far this is the best Haggis I’ve experienced. Generous quantity of meat, probably 5x times more than most places.
The staff is really helpful. The manager made great suggestions for my drinks, while giving me a very kind explanation despite they were so busy. The service was fantastic!
Decent medium sized quiet place, almost like a library.
Local and mainly tourist crowds.
What a joy in the centre of Edinburgh, reasonable prices, fresh food. I had quiche, hubby had haggis .. both were delicious. A proper mug of tea .. please visit, it’s independent not a huge corporation, a really friendly owner that I would guess works her socks off to provide delicious food 🥰🥰🥰
The Haggis Box is so lovely!
My husband and I had tried Haggis elsewhere prior to having a casual little lunch here and this place is a clear winner for us! Ordered Haggis with the whisky and mustard sauce - was absolutely scrumptious and tasted really homely. Staff were also plenty friendly and helpful. A must-visit if you’d like to try the popular dish 🤩
Got my first haggis here, and it was a very pleasant experience. Got the traditional haggis with the whisky mustard sauce, and it blended well with haggis, neeps and tatties. The texture of the stuffing is pretty soft and smooth, imagine mesh potatoes but with more flavor and more grainy (because it is haggis on top of swede on top of potatoes, I think). The slight kick of the mustard definite helps is connecting different parts of the plates together. Definitely recommend getting the haggis with the mustard sauce.
Aside from the food, the restaurant is located inside the storytelling center, and it as this open space where they can hold event. There was this quartet event going when I was there (didn't know ahead of time), and I was pleasantly surprised. The whole place has a very chill and comfortable vibe. Highly recommended.
I wanted to eat here but all tables seemed to be occupied, so I asked if it was possible to have a takeaway, and even though they don't normally offer takeaway, they kindly offered it. The haggis was excellent. I will definitely come again.
I loved this place! Went here to try Haggis for the first time and was not disappointed. Service was warm and friendly and the food was excellent. Fresh shortbread was also the best I have ever had.
A nice quiet spot (at least when we went), absolutely lovely staff, and delicious food. We got one traditional Haggis and one vegetarian
The veggie haggis (which was also gluten free) was delicious. Really liked the whiskey and mustard sauce. Excellent gluten free shortbread as well. Service was amazing
Randomly came across this place, tried it and Holy leopards on the moon this is good! Had the traditional Haggis, neeps and tatties with the whiskey mustard sauce. Unbelievably satisfying. Will have to visit again before I leave Edinburgh.
Edit: tried the Haggis with the red wine gravy. Very nice flavor, but must say I prefer the sauce the first time round :)
Edit 20th May 2023.
Tried it again. My taste buds are in heaven. I wish I lived somewhere in Scotland so I could pop by this place every once in awhile. Anyways I had the haggis neeps and tatties with the Auchentoshan Whisky and Mustard sauce. 9/10. Can't give them a higher score on the off chance they blow me away even more next time
Really loved this place. The staff are really nice and attentive, and the atmosphere is very relaxed and cozy.
We ordered two portions of haggis (one with the whiskey sauce and the other red wine). Both were superb! Great texture to the haggis and the mash was smooth and a great base for the sauce.
We actually ended up coming back a second time just before our train home as we couldn’t stop thinking about it!
