Enjoyed a tasting here via the Scotch whiskey experience platinum tour + taste of Scotland. Food for the tasting was pretty good, you get to try many iconic Scottish dishes/flavors which have been upscaled. But it's not a lot of food and you will probably leave wanting more and hungry.

Wonderful place to eat and drink! We did the whisky tour and then went down to this restaurant to have a meal. They have an extensive drink booklet (Yes! Not a menu but a booklet!). The food and desserts were delicious and the drinks were amazing! We loved it! Thank you, Amber Restaurant!

We went here on a freezing day, after spending hours exploring the castle! They have a phenomenal selection of whiskeys, the food is mouth watering and flavoursome! We got to try a lot of things- The trout, stovies, chef’s selection of Tapas and the soup of the day! I recommend reserving a table in advance online, it’s a busy place and they often donot have walk-ins available! It was such a heart warming meal, the service was great we ordered some hot water for the table and we were given a pot free of charge! We also ordered some winter warmers and the bar obliged to make us some even when they were not lister on the menu!

We went for a whiskey tasting experience. The staff were very kind and polite. We also ordered a chef's selection of Scottish tapas. It was amazing. The tasting flight was really good. Actually bought one of them from the duty free. If you want a lovely (and classy) tasting experience, highly recommended.

Decent food and excellent service at a restaurant right below the entrance to Edinburgh Castle. We went during lunch hours expecting higher prices considering the increased foot traffic of this location, but we were pleasantly by the overall moderate prices and variety on the menu. Our food was decent; the beef in our beef casserole was extremely tough, but the flavour was there, and dishes like the salmon and chive cream cheese sandwich left something to be desired. Overall, a good experience, although there are better places for moderate prices outside this touristy zone of Edinburgh.

We bought the most expensive tour on its website for 90 pounds. It was worthwhile. The guide taught us how to distinguish whiskey’s flavor, color, smell, and taste. At the end of the tour, we had a dinner at Amber Restaurant. The food is delicious! Overall, we had a pleasant night at Scottish whiskey experience in Edinburgh.

I went for my lunch in this restaurant and I must say what a delicious food I had here. From the soup of the day to the Lamb stovies, all were so yummy. I was recommended to try a Scottish beer called Fraoch and it was nice too. This restaurant is very next to the Edinburgh castle. This restaurant remains busy.

Scotch and good food, staff really know how to help, and I'm glad we did this on our first night. Truly a great way to start a holiday and a great experience.

A true whisky experience and culinary delight! They have it all - 100+ whiskeys from all over Scotland and an impressive yet small menu that is sure to please both adventurous and tame palettes. Try a flight of regoinal whiskys! They have the experts who can steer you to something wonderful. I tried the chicken wrapped haggis and it was rich and scrumptous! If you are anywhere near the top of the "Royal Mile", it's a must stop occasion.

The actual whiskey tour was completely separate. Went on tour for 90 minutes, then we were directed to the restaurant. The only link between your and food was a drink paired with dessert. Plate of 3 apps followed by 3 entres. Good way to try several things at one meal. Dessert was wonderful!

The place is beautiful, just next to the castle. I've been here in january and can't wait to be back. I've been kidnapped by their vegan haggis, literally the best food i've had in years and the cheese selection was high quality. Loved how both waitress were nice to me, all the food was high quality and perfectly cooked. Will visit again next time I'll be in Edinburgh

A nice dinning experience especially if youbare wanting to try different whiskey. The staff was friendly and the food was very flavorful. The only unfortunate part is that they close so early. Our reservation were at 630pm and the restaurant was very quite. They turned several people away while we were there because they close at 730p. Would be great if they considered extending their hours.

Had the Taste of Scotland tour at the Scotch Whisky Experience, which culminated in the Amber Restaurant. It consisted of a trio of starters, a trio of mains and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Everything was cooked to perfection.

Absolutely delicious place with amazing food! We really enjoyed the chefs selection of meats and canapés. The mains of the goulash-type beef was very tender and soft with a bright taste of flavor. Another traditional Scottish food haggis was also perfect and delicious, melting in the mouth. Coffee latte was nice , the one with the alcohol cream. The only upsetting thing is that they only had soya and cows milk , no other alternatives. Staff was friendly, but slightly like a robot, but very helpful and explained everything. Recommend to eat here for sure.

A rotating menu of quality dishes, everything we ordered was amazing and Ben was kind enough to take the time to help us pick some drams of whiskey to suit our tastes. The bacon wrapped, haggis stuffed chicken I had was amazing and my wife got the sticky toffee pudding which is as good a pudding as Gordon Ramsay makes it out to be!

As a novice to Scotch, I appreciate the bar tenders approach. He asked what flavors I liked, and he didn't miss a beat when I told him I didn't know. He suggested one of each and then confirmed the price range that I was comfortable with. He walked me through the drip process, and his suggestions were fantastic. Thank you for the great introduction to Scotch!

Ideal luncheon venue after a tour of the castle or a walk up the Royal Mile. Haggis wrapped in chicken for lunch earlier this week and haggis today. Both fabulous. Interesting wine list, a sincere day 1 and a pinot grigio today. Service was excellent although a tad slow to start. Huge selection of whiskies available!

There should be more than 5 stars available as a score because this was not only the best meal we have had in Scotland, it was the best meal out we have had in absolutely ages. We originally tried to book but they were full, however they made room for us as it was a birthday meal. Everything was perfect - the staff were lovely, friendly, knowledgeable (salsify is an athletic parsnip, a phrase I will be using myself!) - particularly Billy (who was amazing), Tamara and Katelyn. The food was incredible - as a veggie and a non veggie it is often hard to find somewhere we both love but this was it! The Soup and Salsify as starters, the Venison and Mushroom Wellington for main courses, the Chocolate Mousse and Toffee Apple Cake were all delicious as was the wine and the whisky for a post dinner liqueur. This was way beyond a 10/10 and sadly, the only problem is that we live 320 miles away! Definitely made my birthday, and our break in Scotland, thank you
