Had a good night out in this bar and restaurant last night, the food was excellent and a very good quality. The staff are really friendly and helpful, definitely worth another visit the next time I'm in Leith.
This is a comfortable place witha central pub/bar area, and a seperate dining area . There is a board with the daily specials and the usual menu. I had the fish (sea bass) special which was delicious.
The service was a bit slow and the waitress seemed a little preoccupied and didnt seem to get the concept of customer service. But the food made up for her attitude.
I assume the waiting staff is usually a lot more professional and that was an off day, that's why they get the good review (4.5) the food was great but the service was definately a put off .
Shore chic. There are some great watering holes down on the Shore and this is one of 2 that are I regularly like to eat at (the other is the Ship on the Shore). It's small, quaint but the level of service is second to none - very professional. Sometimes, we like to eat in the bar area. And sometimes, we'll book a table in the formal dining area. Reminiscent of a proper fish restaurant; crisp white tablecloths, waiters in black aprons. A compact menu with great comfort food staples like steak and ale pie, and fish n chips. It's great quality food too. Wonderful, helpful, friendly staff who run the place like a well-oiled machine. Haven't been there on a live music night but they play good music outwith this anyway
Lovely food. Seafood excellent.... But .... Service very very slow!!!
The Shore, The Ship and The King’s Wark. So went our Saturday Leith pub crawl. These are restaurants as much as they are pubs, so they have a somewhat different feel from pubs in town that serve food.
The Shore is cozily traditional, with a family feel and cheerful and professional staff. You can eat in the bar or in the restaurant. We watched sat in the front, watching the lunch crowds come and go. It seemed that most of the visitors were regulars and everyone chatted and munched happily. The Shore is one of those places where people come in on their own for a cafe latte, or a beer, at the bar, and families go for lunch in the sunshine. It’s friendly and comfortable.
Basic, but very good apartment. All the necessities in place. Great location and no problem communication. Definitely the best neighbourhood to stay while in Edinburgh.
Lovely refurbished and well furnished apartment in an older building. Very comfortable, quiet and cosy in an extremely convenient and attractive location. No designated parking, but plenty of free spaces in a local public car-park close by the rear of the apartment block. Buses stop right outside 🙂.
Ally was a fantastic host. We were let down at the last minute by another apartment and had nowhere to stay. Within an hour of contacting him, we were in settled in The Shore apartment! It's a lovely little place, fantastic location in Leith surrounded by loads of nice restaurants, shops, cafes etc. The buses into central Edinburgh run from virtually outside the door. The apartment itself is well equipped with everything you need. The heaters warm the rooms up quickly and the beds are comfy. There were plenty of towels available and extra bedding/pillows. It was on the ground floor which was handy for my Mum who has mobility difficulties but it was also very secure with 3 locked doors to ensure you felt safe. We would definitely use this apartment again.
Great apartment in a fabulous location. Lots of great places to eat & drink near by with a bus stop across the street to take you into Edinburgh.
Owner is very helpful & friendly, would definitely recommend as a great place to stay for a visit to Edinburgh.
It is a good two bedroom ground floor flat with a small kitchen and a living room. Suitable for 4-6 friends.
Great little flat in an equally great location. The owner is lovely, he is available at all times. Would definitely recommend
