Was recommended from friends and was not disappointed! Food fabulous! Staff very friendly and attentive!! Lovely relaxed meal. Will visit again next time in Edinburgh!! Oh please try dark chocolate banana bread pudding, best pudding I’ve had for years!! Thank you for making it lovely night for myself and my husband!
The hunger had set in and we were desperate for somewhere good for brunch. I do love Broughton Street for its variety of places to eat but was on the hunt for a first time visit; and so the Olive Branch Bistro won us over. I drive past this place most days and it is always busy, which to me is a good sign. People always seem to be eating, laughing and having a good time.

We were greeted by lovely friendly staff and shown to our seats. The place was quite bustling and had a lovely buzz about it.
The menu was very tempting with delicious sounding dishes on the menu and the specials board such as OB breakfast (with a veggie option), Club sandwiches, King Prawns with pineapple salsa and Haggis bon bons. I love that they have Gluten Free options and a healthier option.
Simply Superb. Finally got around to trying this well regarded bistro on Broughton Street today. I was directed to a free table at the window and a complimentary glass of iced water was provided with the menus. A nice touch. I opted for the jerk chicken salad and the braised shin of beef. The salad was quite exquisite and not the token effort I was expecting. Charred strips of chicken breast with a wonderful mango salsa and perfectly judged dressing. Even more impressive was the shin of beef. The meat was so tender and the tomato ragout balanced the richness perfectly. Even the buttered mash was superb. Add in the prompt and friendly service and I can't recommend this place highly enough. A well deserved addition to my favourites list.

Amazing food! Went there for my birthday and had 3 amazing meals. Some prices are a bit high but the quality of food is great. Plus we had a very friendly waiter. Really recommend the salmon with pineapple salsa and cheesecake to die for :)
Best breakfast in the 'burgh! Went for my birthday brunch on may 23rd Loved it, French toast with bacon was Delish! And service was excellent :)
Good value local cuisine.. Thoroughly enjoyed the lunch special that offered a delicious bowl of soup made with seasonal vegetables, followed by a mutton stew with creamy mashed potatoes. Excellent value at under £10. The setting is relaxed and the service friendly. Recommended.
Burger and wine. May be not the best thing to highlight on what is a great menu - but I love the cheeseburger, fries, coleslaw - with a glass of red. Usually busy and welcoming and with a nice buzz
If looking for relaxed, friendly bistro that is excellent value for money, look no further.
This place has THE best Bloody Mary in town. Be aware if you ask it spicy it will be spicy! Love it! I have been here several times for breakfast and always been exceptional. You get a normal sliced bread not cheap toast bread, scrambled egg is just perfect not the cream loaded version. Service is casual and cool. Never had any other food though but if they are as good as breakfast they are the winners.
I met up with some friends recently at The Olive Branch on Broughton Street. We’ve eaten here on a number of occasions and the foods always been great apart from the last time we visited. Not one to be out off by one bad experience we met here again and weren’t disappointed.

Just what we wanted for lunch. Delicious soup of the day with plenty of bread. We also had fantastic tempura broccoli and a decent bowl of chips. Glass of red wine on a cold day. Lovely service too. Lots of choice on the menu and the Scottish breakfasts looked huge!
Very nice place for brunch. All the food was very good, definitely recommend the potato rosti. The poach eggs were perfectly cooked as well. Definitely a must go for some food. Not a massive place though but waiting a bit is good.
We went here for a office lunch party from Lloyds Bank. We enjoyed the food and ambience. It was a great fun.
We stopped at the Olive Branch for a late lunch. The staff were lovely, very welcoming. We had a club sandwich and a steak sandwich both beautifully presented and very filling needless to say dinner was late that night. It is definitely worth a visit for very good simple food. We will definitely be visiting again
Absolutely fantastic. Best meal in a long time. Had calamari (which was absolutely perfect) and venison (also perfect). Will def be back.
Great find, we had the small plates and wow, they were amazing! Worth trying 4 or 5 for a couple, a lovely range to choose from. Each was cooked beautifully and very tasty. Other choices on main menu looked interesting and suit all ages (teens and over)
Service was great and friendly, and altogether very good value for the money considering how great the food was .
I try to visit the Olive branch on a monthly basis because their menu for breakfast and brunch is completely gorgeous. I'm super fan of the Rosti, but I have also tried the French toasts, pacifico eggs and the porridge. Everything is delicious! Good coffee as well. I have been also recommended to try their menu for dinner, well noted. This last time there was a Spanish waitress that was absolutely lovely, but I can say that all the staff are great!
It was our first gastronomic stop on Edinburgh, so we went for the classic fish and chips, it was delicious, fish was very crunch outside and soft inside. We tried the dark chocolate cheesecake and I have no words to how delicious it was.
Maybe it was just too busy for the two front-of-house staff, but this was a poor visit. Table wasn't cleared after main meals; not asked if we wanted more drinks; had to go to the counter to request dessert; ice cream had melted by the time we received said desserts.
Hopefully a one-off, as we regularly eat there, but certainly not a guaranteed stop-off next time.
Walked right in as a tourist on a Thursday. Quaint and cozy. Food was very good and tasty.
Water for dog provided. Nice and polite staff. For 3 mains and 2 drinks paid almost £70. The mayo was out of date and informed staff before paying but never got any discount
The food is good but it was very busy and noisy when we went for lunch on a Saturday.
Excellent weekend brunch! This is the best meal in the week that I have been in Scotland.
Very nice restaurant, good food, great wine and lovely staff. I'll start with desert, I had a chocolate bread and butter pudding. I thought there was too much sauce but it was just the right amount. Wine was lovely.
This delightful bistro is just wonderful. The staff were friendly and professional.
We were led to a cosy table for two, tucked away at the back and brought water while we perused the menu.
Ordered drinks which arrived very quickly then our beautiful main courses arrived.
We both had the venison, which was perfectly cooked. The accompanying dauphinoise potato , celeriac puree and tenderstem broccoli was delicious.
We also ordered dessert (wow! That cheesecake!) And cocktails which were lovely.
Couldn't fault the food or the service. Left feeling satisfied and charmed.
Our only regret is that we live 4 hours away and can't visit again soon!
