Located just outside of the most photographed street in Scotland , lies this unique, very French café. Upon entering, I was greeted with a warm smile and a “Bonjour”. I ordered a flat white, which came out perfectly. It’s hard to find a good cup of coffee in the UK, this was the first good discovery and an exception. Definitely will come back!

It’s a very tiny tight cafe but cozy. I’ve had their vanilla flan framboise and it was amazing! I’ve visited other stores of them as well and would say all their stores have a good authentic taste of French pastries. Would definitely recommend !

Very good french pastries and tarts (especially the Citron Tart). A must stop for pastry lovers. Their prices are reasonable. Would definitely come back again!

Lovely little place for breakfast; get there early though, as I arrived at opening and seats were all filled within 20 minutes. Great pastry selection, I recommend the suisse pastry.

Such a sweet café. The espresso was delicious and the chocolate eclair was to die for - totally worth breaking the diet.

Sweet french bakery. Can get quite busy. Door always open so if sitting in - can get cold - still need a coat. We thought the cacaotine was a cake - it is bread with chocolate bits - this would have been nice with a little cream. It was huge and a bit stodgy on its own and we had to leave it. The pastries were nice though as was the coffee.

One of the best places to grab a coffee and pastry close to the Castle. A brilliant classic French bakery with great coffee. Definitely recommend the pain Suisse. They have a selection of beautiful classic cakes in the window too! Very limited seats inside but if you’ve got some time definitely give this place a go.

Really cute cafe, with yummy pastries and drinks. I took off one star because the barista working seemed very irritated with every little thing, and was also moving slower. We ordered drinks to go, and she gave us our cups with no lids. When I started talking asking for lids she walked away and said nothing. I then had to wait for the cashier to get them for us, and the barista looked annoyed with her as well. The inside is very cozy, but there isn't much room to stand or move, so it was difficult with our kids even placing a takeaway order. They didn't allow us to wait at a table for our items, which is understandable for other guests needing a table, and instead moved us in front of the door so we were in the way of every single person trying to get in and out, for closer to 10 minutes, for two small lattes. It is a bit expensive, compared to cafes selling the same items.

Clearly the go to place in this area. Very nice. Staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. Best Pain au Raisin ive ever had. Amazing. Very fairly priced too. Everyone was clearly enjoying it and your products all looked amazing.

A nice spot to grab a quick bite to eat, I got the smoke salmon croissant which was really good. Their pastries which look very good from the windows for me was a bit of disappointment, I only got a vanilla eclair and it was not good. Their macaroons were also crunchy though they should be soft.

We had a wonderful breakfast at this small but cute coffee shop! Tasty quiche lorraine and salmon sandwich. The tarts are delicious! Special thanks to Dylan for the excellent service. Definitely gonna revisit when in Edinburgh x
