For a cupcake bakery, this deserves the full 5. Adorable china, bunting and a range of delicious cupcakes to choose from. Personal favourites are the red velvet and black bottom cupcakes. My mouth is drooling at the thought again! I've had the whole selection far too many times!! Best cupcakes in Edinburgh!

I first sampled Cuckoos bakery’s tasty cupcakes at a friends wedding last year and vowed to make a visit to their Dundas Street tea room for more sugary treats. However, as usual, time passed and I never got around to it. But when they expanded their chain and opened their Bruntsfield cake shop in April, much more my side of town, I saw this as the perfect opportunity to finanlly tick it off my list.

Divine cupcakes and far to close to home means my wallet is thinning and my waistline is growing. Favourites include black bottom and raspberry white chocolate, but make sure to try their weekly specials! Non cupcake-y things are great also, from salads and in particular the chocolate crunch bar

Cuckoo But in a Good Way. One of the best things about city grazing is the vast choice available. Cuckoo's Bakery is a good example and their culinary weapon of choice is the humble cupcake. Their daily range takes pride of place in a quaint wood and glass display cabinet at the counter. The café is beautifully finished and even has a chandelier ! Hats off to them for their boldness. The little cakes are exquisite and both they and the bakery put a smile on my face.

Love it. I love this little place, it's a sweet little tea room of calm and deliciousness. The cupcakes are wonderful and I would eat one everyday if I didn't have to worry about my waistline. The lunches are great; huge delicious salads and homemade soups. The staff are super friendly and the they've also started a stall at the Stockbridge market on a Sunday.

The best cupcakes ever!. I have been to Cuckoo's probably at least once a week since they opened, sounds extreme but they're cupcakes are amazing, compared to other cupcake shops they don't taste artificial at all and aren't sickly sweet either. I go regularly for lunches as well which are all really good, I love the smoked salmon croissant! They also did the cupcakes for my birthday last month, they were amazing! And of course the owners are literally the friendliest people ever, so definitely go there!

The Cuckoo Bakery has a great, ever-changing selection of gourmet cupcake recipes. The ambience is pleasant - I like the blue and cream themed decor, with a a cute cuckoo clock on the wall. There's no counter for staff to hide behind, just a large free-standing display case for the cupcakes, which gives the cafe an open feeling. It can get very busy at lunchtime. I used to get a takeaway toasted sandwich from here, but it does take a long time. Best to stick with cupcakes, they'll serve them up quickly and efficiently in a box for you to take back to the office. Better still, if you bring the box back to refill, you get a discount.

Cuckoo’s fairly new on the Edinburgh scene. Tucked away at the bottom of Dundas Street, a small and bright space offers a few lucky people seating. Here, you can have all kind of teas – from the expected ones to more exotic flavours such as hazelnut – and your choice of 12 types of cup cakes most days. The peanut butter is my favourite. It is pretty as well as tasty. They used to do a dairy and gluten-free cherry that was lovely but there’s not that big a demand for dairy and gluten-free cakes so they don’t carry it anymore.

Every day, they have a couple of specials. They list them on their Facebook page which I rather like. (OK, I “Like” it – I have pressed that button.)

If you can’t chose, you can take a couple home with you. You get 10% if you reuse the box so hold on to it!

Visited the Grindle St bakery yesterday and had a very tasty lunch, delicious leek & potato soup with a super tasty cheese scone (loved the peppery flavour) and then the most heavenly carrot cake cupcake which had a twist of orange zest in it, so good…sweet but this zestiness offset it perfectly. Will definitely be coming back to try more of the menu. Staff were very friendly and efficient too. Great value for money in a stylish setting. 🥰

These cupcakes are a MUST. If you're in the area or if you're not, still make time to check this bakery: you'll find the kindest staff, a warm set-up and a great choice of delicious sweets.

We had one of their special cappuccino and hot coffee which were the bomb! The scone was also great, loved it! The staff was very nice and friendly. Must stop on the way to the botanic gardens.

Had a nice time visiting today. Relaxing ambience with ample space between tables. Had a cappuccino and dark hot chocolate along with a birthday cookie and a strawberry cheesecake cupcake. The cupcake was absolutely delicious. The cookie was a mix of white choc with fruity bits, that was enjoyable as well.

Delicious chocolate cake for 40th birthday - very smooth ordering process online, good visuals for choosing what you want, helpful on the phone and in the shop. Recommend highly for all your cake buying needs. Only sad that all the guests ate so much cake, so not much left to enjoy at home!

I have gone to his bakery on many occasions because their cakes and brownies are the best in Edinburgh (in my humble opinion). The flavours are creative, thoughtful and unique. There is always something for everyone - cake flavours, cookies, brownies and scones. You get a lot for your money in terms of portion size, flavour and decoration. The staff are always very friendly, appear happy at work and authentically engage with customers. We hired Cuckoos to do our wedding cakes in June 2019 and the whole experience was fun (and delicious!). The wedding coordinator, Sophie, was so enthusiastic and actively helped us hone our flavours and designs. We had full creative control and Sophie let us get very creative. So much so, we went for 3 cakes, 2 sets of traybakes and 6 gluten free cupcakes (and 6 cupcakes for ourselves incase we were dancing too much to eat!). At the tasting they mocked up 6 cupcakes (some with flavours we'd chosen and some inspired by our flavour choices). The tasting was fun and we had undivided attention in the store. We could feel Sophie's excitement when they came out and it was infectious! The cakes were STUNNING. People still bring them up and talk about how delicious they were. I'm no Mary Berry so I won't describe the taste/consistency but I will say that everyone at the wedding tucked in and I was getting messages days, weeks and months after about them. Cuckoo's did all the delivery, set up and provided stands, etc. They did such an amazing job, I can't sing their praises high enough. Plus the value for money in terms of wedding cakes was better than anywhere else we had seen - and that was based on ALL our cakes versus one tiered cake form elsewhere.

Very friendly staff. The food was good and the hot chocolate I had was great. I had one of their cupcakes afterwards, you have to try one of them, they're great. Would recommend stopping by here.

Ordered their Highland Coo cupcakes, they were so accommodating in swapping out the filling for a non-alcoholic option and the cupcake delivery was seamless. Cupcakes were absolutely delicious!

Picked up some cupcakes and a cookie on my way home from town, they were very tasty. Was told if I brought the cardboard takeaway box back I could get 10% off a future purchase which I thought was nice. One star off because I was standing waiting at the till to order for a good 5-10 minutes with no staff visible or checking if there was someone waiting to order.

Sweet little spot for a tea and cupcake! The staff was lovely and the service was quite quick. Definitely a nice spot to sit in and enjoy your drink. I had the red velvet cupcake, and saw they offer a couple of gluten free options as well. Nice to be able to invite friends who aren't able to take part at most spots. Would certainly reccomend.
